Twitching Antenna (5)

Description

To pass this trial, you must travel south to the Field of Giants. There you will find a host of crawling, insect creatures. They are new to the Barrens and I do not like what they herald.

Bring me their still-twitching antennae, and waste no time, <name>, for harvested antennae will not twitch for long. Bring me the antennae in the time allowed, and you will pass the trial.

I was somewhat alarmed by the timer, but this quest is pretty easy.&nbsp Just run south along the road from Taurajo, dodging aggro till you get the message "Entering Field of Giants."&nbsp To your left and right are Silithid mounds, and all of them drop the antennae you need, even the grubs.&nbsp BEWARE the Silithid Swarmers though, they come with several adds which will eat your lunch if you're solo.

Kill the creepers on the east side (48,70) rather than swarmers. Swarmers suck to kill.

Easy soloable at lvl 20 when you obtain the quest, just be carefull of the critter adds, all you have to do is cleave or thunder clap from time to time, and do not panic because of the timer.&nbsp You have all the time in the world.

Silithid Creepers, Swarmers and Grubs all dropped the Twitching Antenna - one dropped every kill, so this only took about 15 min, including the run.

You could probably gather the eggs as well in your time slot It is true that I had a better shield (using the Seedcloud Bucklet that drops off the Everliving in WC) but this leads to a good Hauberk as well as decent gauntlets, legs and helm if you do the whole sequence.

Go to 48.24,69.71...Kill everything around the bug mounds. Be careful or they will sworm and kill you.
No Coordinates:
Go down the south road from the camp. When you get to where big lizards start veering off the road to the East. There are bug mounds with green tops, around them are scorpions & grubs(some other bugs as well).

People need to put coordinates with their comments. Just makes things faster.

Its a 100% drop rate or so it would seem for me
watch out for the mobs because most of them lay eggs or another type of spawning adds i was just using thunder clap and killed them np
i wish the quest reward would of been better tho because my old shield [ lvl 14 ] was slightly better than this one

As someone said earlier, USE Thunderclap. I try to hit bloodrage before the fight, then put the clap on the babies.

Even better than Thunderclap, get Razorhide from the captured Quilboar.&nbsp It does 9 damage to attackers, which kills the swarmer adds first hit.&nbsp If you have even more bloodshards stacked up, just buff all the way and grab the speed boost to help with time.

Even though you have 30 minutes on the quest timer, the antennae themselves expire faster than that. As it took only four minutes from Camp T to the spawn area I thought I'd take care of the silithid egg digging quest there as well. On the way out I got mobbed by a slew of links, decided to take a GY resurrect - checked my pack and I had only four antennae left with the rest having less than 30 seconds to live. Bah )

Unless taking the graveyard sped up the antennae's expiration - I suppose that might have happened. Oh well .. at least I got my eggs p

Can do it simultaneously with the Crossroads quest Egg Hunt (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=868). If you do, set your hearth in Taurajo, finish Egg Hunt first, throw out all the Antennae you have collected, collect a fresh set of 5 Antennae, then hearth back to Taurajo. The first time I did it, I didn't throw out the old Antennae, hearthed back only to find some had expired and I couldn't complete the quest. Had to abandon and restart the quest to reset the timer, run back and do it again, then hoof it back to Taurajo. PITA.

Swarmers are easy for a warrior, just take out the Swarmer, then Thunderclap and all his swarm dies.

Some will lay eggs, if they do, just back or strafe out of aggro range while still fighting, and when they hatch they won't attack you.

The Swarmers are easy to deal with - a Level 2 Thunder Clap will get rid of any of their little buddies (not certain if a level 1 one will). I just thunder clap any time their are two of the little adds to clear them.

Its approximately a 3 minute walk on foot to get to the first nest. The antannae have like a 15 min. decay timer. At level 24 it took me 6 minutes to walk and 4 minutes to kill the bugs. I second the recommendation to kill all 5 in a pile and loot them all @ the same time.

about to do this for the chain. its a shame that the shield is a peice of crap. theres no reason for any horde to use it, at lvl20, you either have or have access to shield from wailing caverns off turtle near door, which is far better, with +4 def mod. there is also an even better shield from the elemental boss, it has int/spi instead, but over 500armor to more then make up for it.(its also extremely easy to farm if you have the help, turtle boss is inches away from zone in, kill, reset, repeat till he drops it)

If you don't want to set your hearthstone location for Camp Taurajo -- for example because it's currently set to Shattrath for easier travelling -- then simply suicide after you've got your 5 antennae. This will bring your ghost to the graveyard right next to Camp Taurajo where you can resurrect at the Spirit Healer.

Remember to remove all gear with durability if you want to save some repair money.

The quest is fairly easy to complete, only kill the Creepers, and you will be fine.

However, the shield that drops off Kresh the Turtle in Wailing Caverns has been recently buffed, and is much better than this one.

This is an easy quest, any of the mobs are easy for warriors and the time limit is generous. The ones you should be a bit careful about are the swarmers who spawn little scarabs, easy to kill with a thunderclap but if you don't they'll take you down. For me it was no problem to do the Egg Hunt- quest at the same time, also you can look for a rare mob called Silithid Harvester who drops a this-item-begins-a-quest thing . Good luck with the slimy buggars =)

Easy quest, did it in under 8 mins at level 20.

Hint: If you've leveled in the barrens and did the quest for the quillboar prisoner you can get the speed buff, it lasts 5 mins.
