Incendia Agave (10)

Description

Arikara is a deadly creature that must be dealt with swiftly. In order to hunt her down you will need to light the sacred fire of life - this will summon Arikara.

Go now and harvest the rare Incendia agave plant. Once you have harvested enough agave, seek council with Magatha Grimtotem on Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff. She is a powerful shaman that can enchant the agave plant to create a powder that will light the fire.

Travel northeast to the Boiling Pool and gather Incendia Agave.

Coords are roughly 36,36. The area is a big lake on your map, it is pretty hard to miss it.

I soloed this very easily with my level 29 priest, never got below half health once. These mobs do have a spell that cuts your accuracy in half, so I can see how that could cripple some melee classes.

The objectives for this quest are stationed all around the area, some underwater and some on the coast. I'm fairly sure you could complete this quest without stepping foot in the water or fighting any elementals, but it would take much longer.

Its worth noting that the elementals in this area drop Bubbling Water in great quantity, which is an excellent mana healing drink for casters.

If you have herbalism and you turn on Find Herbs, the objectives for this quest will appear on your minimap.

You can find the lake at 35,35. Most of the plants needed are underwater. The elementals are immune to ice.

This quest sucks as a frost mage. As in, every talent point you have is basically useless, and the traditional frost mage methods of snare and kite are impossible as this is immune to frost. However, after several tries, I came up with a strategy that works well to solo this, even as a 0/0/x pure frost mage (for all the good those talents do you here, you might as well be 0/0/0...).

This is of course just my opinion, but this worked very well for me and I completed the quest with little difficulty after adopting these methods:

1. First, you must use Dampen Magic. It reduces all damage dealt by the elementals.

2. Second, before you pull, cast Fire Ward on yourself. This will absorb the damage, and Dampen Magic's effect will cause this to last longer. If you want to be extra safe, you can cast this 15 seconds before the pull, so the 30 second cooldown will be up at about the time your ward collapses.

3. When you fight the elemental, make sure you're facing a direction that's clear. The reason being, you can and should Blink out of its stun, but as you're stunned, you can't change direction. Make sure you're facing a good direction to Blink into. Don't burn Blink before it stuns.

4. Always pull with Fireball (or pyroblast if you have it). After this, you're using Arcane Missiles or Arcane Explosion only -- it's fire resist is high enough that you don't want to cast fire spells, at the same time, being as you can cast fireball/pyroblast before it aggros you, it just acts as a little bonus opening damage. Always open at max range to get as much DPS in before it reaches you.

5. Don't try to use Mana Shield, it really doesn't work very well; these things hit hard enough that you'll deplete your mana pool very rapidly.

I found the mobs hard to kill in close combat.
Fist of all, they DPS is crasy. Everytime they hit me, they damage around 90. And when they critt they damage is on 130. Sometimes the mobs uses a stun that last 3 sec. They even uses a curse or something that gives you 30% chans to miss. For casters they are not so hard but look out rogue, warrior, pala and drood, you wont take 2 at the same time.

Doable as a 24 druid at 33,33.

With decent to good gear you can take one of the elementals at a time with perfect tactics and execution, there's two spawn spots for the agave that you can stealth to with just one elemental kill.

The best location to collect these agave is at: 36,38. A couple of the plants are on land and the rest are in the water. Solo'd this one at 29 with a 28 pet. Easy enough to do but you need the watch the aggro range on the elementals. It's a bit hard to see underwater already with there is the added effect of steam and haze in this water.

My results:
You gain 2200 experience.
Received 22 Silver.

Mob called Scalding Elemental is one of the most ridiculous mobs Ive every seen.&nbsp I tried to kill him at lv29 and I gave up (Fire Mage) I can solo lv34 elite but not this lv29 normal elemental. :( Even though I'm a mage, all my gears are concentrated for stamina, so I have about 1000 HP at lv29, ok, so I tried to kill scalding elemental and I laughed so many times.&nbsp This is not even funny.&nbsp Immune to ice, (Ice mages gg) nova doesn't work and it runs fast, uses a firespell that does about 150dmg+3sec stun (can't break stun w/ blink).&nbsp And hits around 80 per hit.&nbsp That means, For each firespell he can do about 200+dmg w/o him getting hit.&nbsp Fireball? My fireball usually does like 190dmg but it takes down his HP only about 10% (high resist to fire) And you don't have enough time to cast third one.&nbsp Or not even second one, cuz he casts that stun spell on you.&nbsp No nova, no blink, immune to ice.&nbsp Scalding Elemental is not soloable by mages... I have no idea why blizzard designed mob like this.&nbsp I already have a lv60 character and Ive never seen any normal mobs unsoloable by any kind of classes. (Yes, I tried to run away from this scalding elemental and it followed me all the way to the elevators of Freewind Post. GG)

This, as already stated, is a very hard quest for fire/frost mages.&nbsp I soloed it as lvl 27 fire mage, died twice.

Resist: ALL frost spells, and 50% dmg from fire

Technique:
stay 30yards from mob.&nbsp hit with arc missile x2&nbsp by this stage it will be upon you, hit Fire Ward, keep pumping arc missiles into it, using your Fire Blast each cool down.&nbsp

this will allow you to kill lvl 27 and 28 with about 1cm health and mana left.

try to dodge as many mobs as possible, collecting the plant around the edges and just in the water.&nbsp multiple pulls = death, so dont swim far into the pool, you'll die.&nbsp Herbalists get handy advantage, can see them on minimap

I did this by myself at lvl28 warlock. It may be harder for those who do not have a pet with tanking capabilities.
There's a lake east of The Great Lift, east of Freewind Post. Right click on the plants in and some that are around the lake. There are some lvl 28-29(maybe a 30) Boilingwater Elementals in and around the water. A lot of the plants are under the water so you'll have to fight, go under&get plant, then go up for air.
Coordinates are 35,35

Being a 28 Magethat uses Elemental magic, I had alot of trouble with these Elementals. They were Immune to Frost Bolt and Frost Nova, Fireball and Fire Blast only did 1/2 to 1/3 of it's normal damage. Arcane Missle was the only answer, but it uses up alot of mana. Luckily enough I'm spec'd so that Arcane Missle doesn't get interrupted by damage, but still it takes so long to kill them with Arcane Missle and they hit pretty hard, plus mages have low health to begin with. I could solo the 27's easily, 28's with some difficulty, but I couldn't kill the 29's. If you read my other posts I can kill anything my own levelor a few levels higher than me, I killed Rok'Alim, the lvl 30 elite at only 29, but I couldn't kill the lvl 29 elementals here. I died 5 or 6 times trying different things and I finally found the answer. Dampen Magic. Mana Shield doesn't do anything, don't cast it. The Elementals don't use physical attacks, it took me awhile to figure it out, even though they are hitting you, it's magic based damage. Dampen Magic, helped immensely, taking 20 damage off every single hit. Once Dampen Magic was used, I was able to kill the level 29's pretty easily, having 30-50% of my health and 20-40% of my mana still intact. This was by far the hardest quest I've done so far.

These guys are viscious, a level 31 mage shouldn't have any trouble killing 18's and 17's, they might as well be elites. None of my fire spells do over 150 dmg unless crit. They are also completely immune to frost. Wtf! I handled the quest fine, but I think these guys are very overpowered.

Thist quest is pain in the butt for fire and especially frost mage. The elementals that hover in and around the pool are immune to frost spells and have very high resist rate on fire spells. So most of the time the only option is to spam AE or Arcane Missiles, and without the talents in Arcane tree Arcane Missiles gets interrupted very easily.

I did this quest as a level 31 Hunter. It's not that hard. The Incendia Agave can be found around the lake, which is your first and best bet for collecting it. You'll encounter fewer elementals that way and you won't have to worry about drowning if you can't last underwater for a long time.

The elementals there give awesome XP as well.

this quest is really hard for warriors. You seem as though your owning them then they put steam jet on you.(chance to hit reduced by 51%). That really kills a warrior. You get it down to just about killing them and then...miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss. Its useless. Once that spell is on you your gone, not to mention scald to stun you and how they respawn at lvl 29 not 27.

QQ more plz. The coords have been repeated 100x times, do you really need to $%^&* about people talking about what level they were and stuff? You can get the coords way up at the top, this stuff doesn't matter. So stop #$%^&ing.

I was a lvl 29 druid, did it alright. Only problem was I had been fighting a while before this and my dura was really low by the end. Just put any dots you have on them, keep your hp up (I hope you have a heal), and put out as much dps as you can. Also don't fight 2 at once. >_< I took out even the lvl29 hard ones (the ones with the stun are tougher).

Only other thing was there was a group of like 3 people doing it at the same time (lvl27, 28, 28), so I had to try ot beat them to the loot, and sometimes they'd take one I was going for while I was fighting the enemy near it. I did the same thing to them a few times, so it evened out.

Since the mobs are immune to all frost spells, you cant lock them using frost nova, slow them down with cone of cold or anything like that. You start of the fight using arcane missiles, do not use Fireball since they have heavy resistance against fire. Fire Blast sometimes comes in hand if you'r low on mana, however, after using Arcane Missiles just spam Arcane Explosions all over the place. Use "Fire Ward", since even their normal hits count as fire dmg. Then it'll be quiet easy, gl!

Was doing this as a 29 rogue solo, was going ok, had one close call, was like, "whew close one" then suddenly I was shot by one of those snakes that shoot lightning in the area. Ok, so I go back to finish up and guess what, snake is shooting at me again, but I cant see him anywhere, I proceed to try and leave the area as I figure the mob must be under the ground. Even though I was out of combat this thing was still shooting me repeatedly. Went all the way to the great lift and left the area as I'm getting pretty sick of these bugs.

Good luck
