To Kill With Purpose

Travel to Corin's Crossing to the east and slaughter the Scourge that inhabit the town. Collect 7 pieces of Living Rot in under 10 minutes. Use the Mortar and Pestle to grind the Living Rot into Coagulated Rot.
Coagulated Rot
Provided Item:
Mortar and Pestle

Description

You kill with purpose while you remain on my stead.

Your first task is to feed my hounds.

Take this mortar and pestle and travel to Corin's Crossing. Once there, you will find a robust selection of Scourge to slaughter. From their fresh carcasses I need living rot. Take that living rot and grind it up in the mortar, then let it sit to coagulate. Bring the coagulated rot back here.

And imbecile, realize that living rot from the undead doesn't remain 'living' for very long. You must kill quickly!

If you happen to be a class that kills rather slowly, here's a little trick to do this easily...

Instead of immedietly looting the corpses of the monsters, kill a few but don't loot their corpses yet. The timer on the rot doesn't start until you pick it up. I managed to get 5 pieces of rot and barely start the 10 minute timer.

Also, the rot seems to drop from any creep at Corin's Crossing, they don't necessarily have to bef fleshy monsters to drop the rot. (i.e. Stitched Horror vs Wraith)

Hope those tips help.

Go to Corins Crossing and kill the Scourge. Nearly all the mobs outside the city drop the Living Rot.

The Living rot expires after 10 min, so the best way is to kill 5-7 monsters try to draw them to the same place and then loot the bodies all at the same time, as the timer does not start till after you pick up the living rot. This also means that you can look at the body, and loot everything but the living rot, so then you know which bodies and how much living rot you have.

Corin's Crossing 59.69
Kill any mobs there, they drop Living Rot randomly, get 7 of them, then click on your Mortar and Pestle in your inventory.
You'll receive Coagulate Blood.

Tips for soloing this quest:

Stay around the edges. The fastest kills are the gibbering ghouls and the stitched horrors. If you get a Hidden Servant, get outside the aggro range of town quick. If one of those "calls for help" inside the town limits, you're screwed.

Basically just keep killing until you have 7 of the things at once.. it took me about 40 kills to do this. The living rot does not drop on every kill, and I had to rest for mana about every 3 kills.

Soloed at 57.

Also, just a small warning, there are invisible mobs around the town so watch out! You might be killing one mob and a few seconds later you can have 3 mobs on you.

Warlocks have Detect Invisibility on

7 Kills, 7 drops. Drop from every mob in the city limits, I got some from each flavor of undead there (ghost, skeleton, & abomination).

... no need for "tactics". It seems the rot will always drop, from any mob in Corin, when you have the Q. At least, I got my 7 drops on 7 kills ...

Stitched Horrors seem to be the way to go for this one, pretty good drop rate. Finished the quest with exactly 9 seconds left before my first piece expired so the timelimit is definately tight!

As a 57 Shaman, this quest was pretty tough. I must have had 4 or 5 pieces of Living Rot die before I got enough in time to put it all together. Just make sure you crack out your 2 hand weapon or DPS buff, carry lots of conjured food and drink so you can go all out mana-burning on each mob that drops the rot and quickly drink/eat afterwards. Also, don't even try fighting any adds you get, you'll only waste time as your rot dies and expires.

L56 frost mage. No problem with this. Got my bits of rot in about ten kills. Took maybe ten minutes total from arrival to turn-in. I never went more than a couple of feet into the Crossing. I stood near the west side entrance and just killed what was around there.

dont loot the rot right away, you have some time before the corpse expires. I think it is like 5 min but i am unsure. But if you dont loot the rot off the corpse right away and let it sit there for say 4 min then that will give you a little more leeway in getting this quest done.

Just farm mobs there, no particular kind. Coordinates between 57:71 and 61:67.

Oh, and very easy quest. Don't let the timer issue intimidate you. Solo'ed this as lvl 54 frost mage, and got back with more than 3 minutes to spare.
