Southsea Pirate Hat (20)

Description

You're the help the Cartel sent? I suppose you'll do. Listen carefully <class>. As you know, I am a procurer of fashionable apparel for the elite of Azerothian society. Kings and Queens, Warchiefs and, well whatever the Horde calls their queens, all wear what I choose is in style. And they pay through the nose for it, which is the best part.

So here's what's going to happen. You head down to Lost Rigger Cove and acquire a lot of pirate hats by whatever means. Do you think you can handle that?

If the drop rate is around 50%, I must be very unlucky. I completed the Southsea Shakedown quest and only had ten hats to show for it. Twenty kills later, I'm sitting at thirteen total hats. I believe I've seen the hats drop off all four types of mobs and definitely more than just the pirates. The drop rate seems slightly higher off of the actual Southsea Pirates in my case so far.

I have done this quest now on 5 different characters and the drop rate has been terrible every time. My mobinfo mod has the drop rate for all my characters combined at 19% so be prepared to kill and kill and kill for this quest

Remember with a 20%ish drop rate you are looking at about a hundred kills, give or take.

It's not so bad if you do the Southsea Shakedown at same time. You have to kill 40 of them anyway. took me about 50 kills total.

As for the guy complaining about right coords. 68,41 worked perfectly for me. First poster had it right.

Now with the patch 1.10 XP to GOLD stuff , the reward is 88S each time !

So 20 hats = 88S
400 hats = 20G ! And if ur level 60 those pirates are a peace of cake ! 6 Hits and thy are dead for a warrior (like myself).

Grind away !

This drop rate is completely Horrible. I did it with the Southsea Shakedown, and still like 2 hours after completeing "Shakedown" (granted im 42 and have to be careful) I still only have 14/20 hats =|

43 lock and solod easily. You will find a greater drop rate like 2/3 if you kill the pirates/freebooters/ etc.. if you kill them outside of the camp just as you pass through the cove. i had 20 hats in about 20-25min.

I was able to collect all the hats in combination with the Southsea Shakedown quest. After the 40, i think i had to kill about 15 more to get my final drops. The last 3 hats were the worst, but i leveled from all the grinding :D

Just a quick note, i've completed the quest where you need to kill like 40 of these pirates, and i've only gotten 10 hats. So if you are a mana user like me, remember to take a whole lot of water with ya, cause you are gonna be farming the hats for a while! ;D

I somehow got this quest a second time... I completed it once and I came back a few days later and saw a yellow "!" over the guy and he gave the quest to me again for 20 more hats.&nbsp It wasn't blue so it made me wonder what happened since I haven't seen anything indicating it's a repeatable quest.&nbsp I'll take it, though.

Yes, this is a heavy grinding quest.&nbsp Good xp for the mid 40 levels though and even better for rogues who can pickpocket for junkboxes and once you get I think 225 lockpick you can pick the footlockers of which there are many.

I've found that the drop rate is much higher if you solely kill Southsea Pirates and nothing else.&nbsp They have a much better drop rate than any other "pirate" in that area.

It's a female goblin, first of all and she's on the left side of the port near her little hut.

This quest is completely irritating but it gives a VERY nice amount of xp and you'll need as much xp as you can get because it gets very nasty once you hit lvl 45 and run out of quests to complete.

I just finished with another person to get these damn hats, think we cleared the place about 5 times. Took 3 or so hours. Heh, I remember we planned out the our first attack on Andre firebeard or w/e his name is but after we found all 20 hats we realized we killed him about 10 times :P Oh and respawn rate is crazy on these guys...CRAZY O_O

I've spent almost 2 hours doing this quest and so far have only got 9 hats. The drop rate is definitely below 10%, so it's a quest worth putting aside a lot of time for. The other drops are ok, Volatile Rum drops more often than the hats by the looks of it, along with lock boxes and theres some good chest respawns around.

Went with a 48 Pally and we finished off both quests in about 20 minutes. Hats drop fairly well and they drop the foot locker that is an easy turn in you can do after you complete the Pirate Hats. So all in all 3 quests complete in very little time.

I just finished this quest in about an hour. I solo'd lvl 45 hunter. Nothing that I couldn't handle. Cove is south of town, go inside a tunnel, and you end up in the cove. I did not get a chance to do this quest a second time.

Quest is easy, the drop rate of the hats is DEFINITELY above 10%, more like 40 or 50%, but the pirates do drop some good loot, just watch out for respawns while you're fighting, especially the freebooters, who for some reason always seem to respawn behind me while im fighting.

I solo'ed this as a 43 Tauren Shammy. It took a while but it was fun. Just pay attention to possible adds/repops. Also, the Freebooters (sp) have a large range. Good XP. If you are going to do this make sure you grab the "Wanted: Andre Firebeard" quest as it is in the same area and he is pretty easily solo'ed if you can get him single. You get Gadgetzan rep and xp for the wanted quest.
