The screenshot here does not do this mini pet justice. If you see one in game, get up real close and look at it. Its a floating head with glowing eyes and a series of spinning yellow orbs with blue light trails moving around it. And it pulses with a red burst every half second or so.

Really neat looking mini pet. Glad I got this one.

This little guy is exactly the same as a Night Elf's ghost but red instead of blue. If you look very closely you'll see a face.

In patch 2.4.3, numerous flying non-combat pets have had their flight height modified to no longer skim along the ground. This includes captured firefly, dragonhawk hatchlings, moths, owls, parrots, phoenix hatchling, spirit of summer, sprite darter, and tiny sporebat.

Its a pet from the Midsummer fire festival quest "A light in Dark Places." Supposedly looks like a mini-fire elemental.

Actually it looks like a pink wisp. There were screenshots on the official WoW forums earlier today.
