I solo'ed the whole tower as a lvl 33 beast mastery hunter.  Kill the elite mage and his minion. Took awhile but easy kill. And no not lootable.

He's a regular level 30 mage, so not elite, but has more than 21000 hitpoints! That makes him virtually impossible to kill..... solo'ed the morganth quest as a level 36 warrior, which is very easy, but killing him? No way!

Spawns from Morganth after engaging him in combat for long enough.

It also doesn't spawn until you bring Morganth below 50%.

Concerning 'This NPC has not been seen in some time and may no longer exist' :)
We've killed him just yesterday. He may not be seen by players too often because he is not a regular spawn - he pops only after death of Morganth (mage at the upper floor of the tower).

Looks like Stitches, an abomination, dunno if he is lootable, probably not.
