Satyr Horns (16)

Description

I can't believe that Anilia is gone... We used to play together in the forests all the time. I almost feel... sad.

I know something that might make me feel better. Please, slay the satyrs that took Anilia from me! Bring me their horns as proof of your actions and you will forever have my gratitude.

Went to Satyr first, two circuits of the camp and got half to 3/4th's of the horns, but drops seem to dry up after spawn, so moved to Xav and got the remainder.

As mentioned, Satyrs at Xavian will heal themselves to full if they are not interrupted in some way. The mobs there also range in level from 28-30.

Satyrs at Satyrnaar will frequently cast curse of the Bleakheart on you (http://classicdb.ch/?spell=6946). This curse is a pain in the ass due to the occasional stun, which always seems to proc when you get an add on you.

The ideal Stayrs to grind on to complete this quest are found in Night Run, just east of Raynewood Retreat. The mobs here range in level from 25-27 and respawn quickly. Their only special ability is a short duration silence.

After the latest patch, Illiyana is no longer located at the Shrine of Aessina. She can be found near the Draenei at Forest Song.

The Satyrs right in Satrnaar drop them regularly, i only had to make two circuits to get all 16.

I went to both Satyrnaar and Xavian and Xavian was MUCH better for drop rate. I got it done in two rounds around the camp.

Drop rate around 20%
16 Horns needed
80 kills needed
no followup
not worth your time

I really hate when Blizzard throws in these time wasting quests.&nbsp It makes more sense to me to just skip it and move on to your other quests.&nbsp You could do 3 or 4 others in the time it takes to do this one.

Hi folks!

Why fight Horde? You must be talking about PvP server.

I had a really nice drop rate at Xavian. In Satyrnaar it didn't drop at all for me.

Good Luck!

I did this and the previous quest line in about 40 minutes as a lvl 32\33 frost mage.
i had a great drop rate and nice drops from the satyr's.
i even got to get the rare prince. :)
not counting all the silk from them, i got 5 green items including 2 wands (Fire and shadow for lvl 21\25), two handed lvl 26 sword, a +4 sta, +4 spi off hand and a 46 armor +9int +9spi cloth chest.

plus, it's Really close to the quest giver if you take the path from forest song straight into xavian.

just try to kill\stun them before they finish casting their healing.

Ok so I spent about 10 minutes killing stuff in Satyranaar...got 1 drop...decided to move over to Xavian, got maybe 1 drop per 3-4 kills. So basically for me at least drop rate was a bit better pluss you don't have to deal with that annoying Bleakheart Curse that the Satyr in Satyranaar cast on you.

the drop rate on Xavian is lower than Santa claus chance of existence... ;p

I used to remember the drop rate being brutally low, but it looks like that since patch 2.3, the drop rate has been improved.

I went 0 for 6 at Xayvian before I moved over to Night Run.

At Night Run I got 16 horns in 49 kills = ~33%.

Do yourself a favour and go to Night Run to complete this quest.

I think this is a great example of what in my opinion is blizzard's mistake in the design of some quests.

The necessary ingredients:

1) A Quest Giving NPC.
2) Mobs, which must be killed and a site upon which something must happen
3) A long, boring zone with nothing to do in between that takes 10 minutes to run across.

Unfortunately, in combination these three things can make for frustrating times. The problem with this quest is that you get given the quest, need to run across the zone and do it (And it's quick) and then you must run back (the running is 15-20 minutes) to get your XP... and then you are asked to run back to the exact place you were before, to do something else.

Boring! Frustrating! Tedious!

If for no other reason this quest is good for the xp, because even if it is a low drop rate, you are killing massive amounts of mobs, and the point of the quest is for xp anyway, so i personally enjoy the quest.

P.S. Night Run is by far the best place for this quest due to the very simple racial (brief silence) in comparison to Satyrnaar and Xavian.

This is a follow-up to Dryads in Danger! Vile Satyr! and the Branch of Cenarius. I received the 1st quest at lvl 30, and received this quest at lvl 30 also.

for those of you such as illovich who are frustrated with the long trip between the quest giving NPC and the quest drop area, on this and so many other quests just like this one in this zone, remember if you continue past forest song just a little further there is a flight path first thing as you enter Azshara that will literally save you hours of running back and forth.

Another vote for Xavian - didn't try Satyrnaar. I'd say the ratio of drops is more like 1 in 5. They also drop a lot of silk - got about 40 doing this and the respawn is fast.

I farmed Xavian for these horns and what i noticed was burst drops.
When they dropped they dropped severa at a time for a while (4-5 horns on 4-5 kills) and then a long brake before it started once again. took about 30 minuttes i think

Xavian kills give more xp and gives you better items + more money, just doing the first part of this quest chain gave me 3 greens and at least 10s :-)

Don't know where they got that from, but killing them in Satyrnaar takes MUCH longer than Xavian. The drops are about 1 horn in 3 (compared to 1 in 10 at Satyrnaar), which only took about 45 min, and work the xp and money

The horns had a terribly low drop rate for me. The XP reward really isn't all that spectacular, and you could probably make more cash doing other quests. So, not really worth it in my opinion.
