The Coastal Menace

Bring a scale of Old Murk-Eye to Captain Grayson at the Westfall Lighthouse.
Scale of Old Murk-Eye

Description

When my life was ended upon the rocks, I had no clue what the afterlife held for me. The Lighthouse was black that night because Old Murk-Eye had scared the keeper's family off. They returned and re-lit the flame but Old Murk-Eye coerced the weaker minded murlocs to raid the Lighthouse with him once again. The second time the family was not so lucky and before my eyes they perished helplessly.

Slay Old Murk-Eye if you see him along the shore and bring me one of his scales and I shall reward you.

he's located just east of the lighthouse where the quest starts, there is a camp of murlocs, and he'll appear and fade at that camp.&nbsp

Saw someone holding the torch in XR one day and knew I needed it for myself, a level 40 troll hunter. :p

So I dressed up in my swanky farmer outfit (Crochet Hat, Blue Overalls, Farmer's Broom) and raptored over to Westfall. Found the lighthouse near the bottom of the map and got the quest from the ghost guy. As soon as I swam back from the coast onto the Murloc beach I saw Murk-Eye right in front of me. Regular level 20 mob.

All in all, took me only a few seconds once I reached the lighthouse.

For those not being able to decide between the splendid-lookin shield and the torch, there is another shield looking exactly the same available in Desolace. https://classicdb.ch/?item=16788

I had just finished reading the comments on this and went back into the game to find myself being attacked by him. very easy to kill as a level 21 warlock. Then again he's only level 20. Found him...or he found me almost directly south of the light house.

I was 16 paladin with a 17 priest, we had some trouble. barely causing him any hurt. luckily someone around 21 was nearby and he helped to kill Murk-eye.

So don't try it too early unless you have more people.

The buckler is nice though, for anyone using a shield. It has the same buckler graphics here but when you wear it, it is actually a boat's steering wheel graphic. Very nice.

Murk-Eye is usually standing in the water near camps. Run up and down the coast, he's kinda hard and kinda easy to find.

he's at the southwest shore of Westfall, and he is lvl 19 elite (not 15), so he is hard to kill alone

Soloed him as an 18 pally - not very hard.&nbsp Need to separate him from the other murlocs though.

Also found the Murloc Oracles hard to kill - they tend to draw the other murlocs into a big bloody mob on you.

Old Murk-Eye is a pushover for an "elite" quest. Duo-ed him with my lev 17 paladin and a 19 mage companion, and he fell within seconds. Later that same evening, after the mage logged out, I ran into him again while heading back to the lighthouse and soloed him with no trouble at all. It was a longer fight than the first time, and I had to heal myself once, but still surprisingly easy.

Of course, in both instances it was Old Murk-Eye by himself. If we'd aggroed a handful of the surrounding murlocs and had them join the fight, it might have been a different story.

Got a neat shield out of it, anyhoo! :^)

Watch out - there are at least 2 more elite Murlocs wandering the shore, and it's not hard to aggro multiples if they happen to converge at just the right (wrong!) moment. They do not look significantly different than their "regular" bretheren, so look carefully before wading in...

This didnt seem that hard.

Did him duo at 18 with Mage/ Hunter.

Keep him tanked and then lay into him with some range damage.
