Compendium of the Fallen

Retrieve the Compendium of the Fallen from the Monastery in Tirisfal Glades and return to Sage Truthseeker in Thunder Bluff.
Compendium of the Fallen

Description

The Earthen Ring had pure intentions towards our plagued brethren. But who is to know the motivations of those whispering in the ears of the Elder Council?

The Forsaken whom we have allied with have a history wrought with deceit. Too hasty was our pact. Perhaps Cairne would have been wise to heed the warnings from Orgrimmar.

Deep within the Scarlet Monastery lies the Compendium of the Fallen, guarded by crazed human zealots. Their method is forged from insanity but their research might prove useful.

Library...
You will find the book, as said, right as you enter the Athenaeum.

In case you are one of those that never really pay attention to, or read the text that tells you when you enter a new area...

It's last corner before the hallway leads straight into the room with the boss. (Circular room on the map)

On the bookshelf, immediately to the left, at waist height (for an orc/tauren anyhow) the book will be sticking out of the bookshelf.

It's a black book, and you only see the back of it. It's not laying on the bookshelf, its standing with only the back of it visible. And it's the huge bookshelfs that kinda acts like background, or as the walls if you like, along either side of the hallways. Book is on the left though.

Kinda pain the (***) to find if you don't know how it looks.

Side Note...This quest is unavailable to the Undead race, since the Tauren asks the person to spy on the undeads history or some. Would be kinda stupid to ask an undead, dont you think?

As has been said before, this is not available for anyone who is undead, but can be picked up by all othe horde characters without any prerequisite.

Blizzard has confirmed in the forums that this is indeed because of the lore reasons.

fraid at the moment this quest is unavailible to undead, with no word on if/when it would be. These are the words straight from the GM, to all other races though, the book that you need is in the right side instance zone its sticking out from the bookshelves about half-2/3 of the way into the instance.

the best part about this quest is that sheild wearers can get a shield in the 29 bracket (the quest requires 28) that is item lvl 36, so you can put 18 stam on it. there are a few others like this, so I'll have to look into that

He is on the lowest level of Thunder Bluff in the inn-shaped building that leads to the bridge to Spirit Rise. Just look for a building with a totem that says "Bridge to Spirit Rise" when you mouseover it.

to find the book (also the book for mages) is easy: just go into the last room, then leave it (^^). move back throw the room, but dont turn left or right! at the end of this way, you will find yourself at a bookshelf, where both book are in. taking them is like taking things from a box...
sry, my english is no very well^^

There doesnt seem to be much correct info on where the book is so -

Its in the Libaray section of the Scarlet Mon.

As you get nearer to the end boss, there will be some hallways with lots of books on shelves. The book spawns randomly in one of those book cases.

So, its at the hallways near the end...and if one party member takes the book, it will respawn in a different spot nearby after about 5mins or so.

The person you get the quest from is Sage Truthseeker, he is on the lower rise, in the building that leads to spirit rise. He obviously has a big yellow question mark above him, so you cant miss him. And yes this quest is unavailable to undead, sry :(

When you're at the last boss, the moron in the circle room, it's at the far end of the hall. I killed the boss and ran back (watch out for respawns) but the book is at the far end of the hall. If you were to back up to it you'd be looking down into the room with the boss.

As an Undead-Mage-level 35, with a friendly reputation (3236/6000) with Thunderbluff, I stood in front of the Tauren Sage, and no golden exclamation was protruding from his head for me.
No previous quest is demanded by him (according to this mostly genial website) and no specific classes are required. But alas! Still no quest for me.
In regard of the 38 level mentioned in the quest, I read in one of these posts that someone got it as low as level 28.
So I leave you to ponder on the situation with this information. Better luck for all of you that have similar characteristics to my mage.
