In the Name of the Light

Kill High Inquisitor Whitemane, Scarlet Commander Mograine, Herod, the Scarlet Champion and Houndmaster Loksey and then report back to Raleigh the Devout in Southshore.
  •
High Inquisitor Whitemane slain
  •
Scarlet Commander Mograine slain
  •
Herod slain
  •
Houndmaster Loksey slain

Description

I once served the Scarlet Crusade with honor, loyalty and pride. I believed their cause to be a noble one: to rid Azeroth of the undead.

But as I spent time at the Monastery in Tirisfal Glades I realized that their grasp on reality was slipping. They now think everyone is plagued who doesn't wear the tabard of the Crusade. Innocent men and women were tortured because they were supposedly plagued.

The Scarlet Crusade must be crushed in the name of the Light. You, <name>, must destroy the deranged regime.

High Inquisitor Whitemane (https://classicdb.ch/?npc=3977) & Scarlet Commander Mograine (https://classicdb.ch/?npc=3976) can be found in the cathedral.

Blades of Light! Herod (https://classicdb.ch/?npc=3975) is located in the armory wing.

Houndmaster Loksey (https://classicdb.ch/?npc=3974) is located in the library wing. He's in the 1st little alcove off of the courtyard.

Hound Master Loksey
-------------------
Library (Portal to the right)

Loksey is in a room off the courtyard near the beginning of the library.&nbsp Also in the library (though not needed in this quest) are the Mythology of the Titans and the scarlet key.&nbsp Doan is the final boss here.

Herod
-----
Armory (Righthand door)

Herod is the final boss.&nbsp At one time the whipping boy of mages the world over, he is now immune to movement imparing effects (frost) and has a charge in case you happen to get too far out in front (blink).&nbsp Mages beware of aggro =).&nbsp When Herod dies a mob of low health followers storms into his room.

High Inquisitor Whitemane
Scarlet Commander Mograine
--------------------------
Cathedral (Lefthand door)

Mograine stands at the head of the cathedral proper.&nbsp Be careful to clear all followers inside before engaging, because he calls them to battle if you don't.&nbsp When Mograine dies his *ahem* inquisitor, Whitemane, rushes out of the large door behind the altar.&nbsp At 50% health she will sleep your whole party, resurrect Mograine, and fully heal herself.&nbsp Twink parties beware, it is possible to kill her before she completes this event - at which point no one will get kill credits for either of them and no loot is dropped.

The portal to the left is the undead wing.&nbsp To my knowledge there are no quest objectives for the Alliance there, but there are several rare spawn bosses with interesting loot.

Good luck!

Come on, it's stated over and over above:

1. Talk to the Scarlet Emissary in the basement of the Cathedral of Light in Stormwind OR head straight to Nijel's Point in Desolace and talk to Brother Anton - the guy in SW only sends you to find the guy in Desolace anyway

2. Anton gives you a *mandatory* pre-quest, you need to head to south-east Desolace and kill 30 undead ravagers these are lv37-38 mobs, easy to solo, watch out for the roaming lv40 necromancers though (soloed it on my lv36 priest, no problem). Head back to Nijel's Point to turn the quest in.

3. Head to Southshore in Hillbrad, talk to the guy on the second floor of the inn after a little speech and burning a letter, he gives you this quest (In the name of the light) head to Scarlet Monastery, kill Houndmaster Loksey (Library wing), Herod (Armory wing), Mograine and Whitemane (Cathedral wing), head back to Southshore to turn this quest in and collect your blue reward.

This is not a difficult quest, but does require you to go through most of the sections of Scarlet Monastary, save for the graveyard. With a group of 5 38-40+ players, it is easily done in two to three hours, if you can move quickly. The rewards for this quest are very nice for rogues and warriors especially, as the Black Menace is a very nice dagger for rogues and the Bonebiter is a very good 2H Axe for warriors. The Sword isn't too bad, but not that great, while the Orb is pretty nice for mages I would think. So definitely a worthwhile quest and you can gain a decent amount of XP while doing it.

The hardest part is the Cathedral where Mograine and Whitemane hangs out. But all of the instances can be 3manned if you have a group of level 40-43 people, and doing it like that is a great way to get some exp around that level.

Ok, great instructions on how to obtain the quest but... WHY THE HELL ISN'T THIS SHOWN ON THOTTBOT AS A CHAIN?

For all who are wondering, the quest chain is:

1. Down The Scarlet Path (kill Undead Ravagers)
2. Down The Scarlet Path (Letter of Commendation to Raleigh in Hillsbrad)
3. In The Name of The Light (Scarlet Monastery quest)

You need a full group of at least level 38 to pull this off, and then its sketchy.
The monastery is all the way to the NE of Trisfal Glades, and once you enter the monastery then instances are to your left.

The chain of quests to get this one are, go to desloace, talk to the guy on the landing of the hotel.. kill 30 undead ravagers.. find raliegh the devout in the hotel of southshore.. go to trisfal and kill kill kill

Also the final boss gets resurrected, then you have two very powerful very angry level 42 bosses on you.

You need to do the following before you can pick-up this quest.

At level 34, you can go to the Cathedral of Light (in Stormwind), into the basement (down the ramp in the northeast corner), and speak with Brother Crowley to get the quest "Brother Anton".

That quest sends you to Desolace to talk to Brother Anton, who gives the "Down the Scarlet Path" quest. (Kill 30 Undead Ravagers.)

Brother Anton then gives you a Letter of Commendation to take to Raleigh the Devout (for the next stage of "Down the Scarlet Path"), in Southshore, at which point you can pick up the "In the Name of the Light" quest.

By Anonymous on 10/06/2005 (Patch 1.7.1)
There are many ways to start a quest line.&nbsp You might stumble over an NPC that'll send you to another NPC that'll give you the real quest.&nbsp For example, at high lvl 20s, if you talk to one of the Bishops in the Cathedral of Light, he'll send you to talk to the gnome who gives the Techbot quest.&nbsp Likewise, Shoni the Shilent will sent you to talk to some quest NPC for Gnomeregan as well.&nbsp You can still get the quest without talking to these intermediates, but they just give simple exps.

So Down the Scarlet Path can start in SW or Desolace, but it officially starts in Desolace with Brother Anton.

Visit a fellow in the basement of the Cathedral of Light in SW. He gives you a quest to go for Desolace and catch up with a friend of his. This friend asks you to go kill a couple of undead fellows in southern Desolace. The rest pretty much talks for it self hand in Q, talk to him, kill a couple of SM-bosses and so on. Happy hunting.

(I started from Wetlands, Menthil Harbor)

Take the right boat to Auberdine (take the FP) then walk south to Ashenvale.

Go to Tallondeep path (42,57 Ashenvale)follow the tunnel.
(dont forget ASHENVALE FP 36,50- not 100% sure)

Exit the tunnel and go to (60,71) then follow the north road to (45,41). There u follow the west road which will lead u south to Desolace.
*''''''''''''''''''''''*

2: In Desolace, go to (62,14) till u see a Nijel Guard. Follow the little path north to Nijel's Path.
Take the FP and then go to the Inn, there on the baclcony is Brother Anthon. He will give u the quest where u have to kill 30 Skelletons (lvl 37-39)

3: Now u have to go South to (65,81)
There u will find the skelletons.
Kill 30 of them and return to Brother Anton.

4:Now take the follow-up and go to Hillsbrad and go to the Inn.

5:Take the new Quest and go to SM.

To low-30s toons who want one of these rewards "early on", you need to complete the first quest in southern Desolace killing 30 ~lv39 skellies first. Either wait til you're about lv36-37 and solo it (perfectly doable for any class, I did so on my priest at lv36), or have a higher-lv help you (ie. do all the work for you). Then go to SM and run the 3 major wings where the mobs you need to kill are (Loksey in the Library, Herod in the Armory, Mograine & Whitemane in the Cathedral).

for those of you that think you cant use the orb... think twice....

Illussionary Rod
+7 Stamina
+15 Intellect
+10 Spirit

Orb of Lorcia + Sorcerous Dagger (the more common drop off Doan)

+14 Intellect
+14 Spirit
+9 damange and healing

If you dont mind sacrificing that 70 health and 15 mana, then the extra spirit isnt half bad, along with the +9 damage to spells. though it is more of an alternative for those that run the library many times and still cant find the dagger... at least you can have somthing.

You will need a full group of people to do this quest just becasue there are so many mobs you would be there all night otherwise. The 4 people you need to kill are split up between 3 of the instances inside SM.

High Inquisitor Whitemane & Scarlet Commander Mograine
are in the DOOR instance to the left. You will want to carefully kill all mobs in the room he is in to avoid extra agro during the fight. After you kill the guy the first time the priest runs out to rez him, kill her then and him again. Those 2 are done.

Herod is inside the right DOOR instance at the very end. After he is dead a bunch of his people will run into the room to attack be careful. Easy way to kill is have a mage drop a Aoe after they are frozen in place.

Houndmaster Loksey is inside the right regular instance, he is not the boss at the end. He is in a small room off of the garden/courtyard area with the dogs. He isnt too bad just has a few dogs you have to kill at same time as him. He also sometimes drops a dog whistle that you use to summon a dog to walk by your side and attack for awhile.

Hope this helps someone out i know it took me until i found a group that had done it before to figure it out.
