Culling the Threat

Bring Dal Bloodclaw's Skull to Raene Wolfrunner in Astranaar.
Dal Bloodclaw's Skull

Description

Directly to the north of Astranaar are the Thistlefur furbolg. My scouts report that their numbers have grown greatly over the past few months. If they grow too great, they may find the courage to attack Astranaar directly.

Kill as many of their kind as you can, but bring me their chieftain's skull as proof that their efforts have been stifled... for now.

I shall remain here in Astranaar and await word from you. Elune be with you.

For those that want a more exact location: wanders in a small area at 38,35.

You must go thru the large wooden gate but not into the underground hold. I found him at roughly 38,34 but when I disturbed him without killing him he roamed about the general area quite a bit but eventually returned to the fire he was originally huddled around. Be prepared - it seems that you will draw about 3 - 4 adds no matter how careful once you pull him. Hes only a level higher than the others at 25.

OMG... I too had been running around inside the cave for an eternity. It just seemed like the place he'd be. I ran around in cat stealth for a while and counted 28 furbolgs in only about half the cave (so there's probably around 50 of them in there).

Finally I read this, and went back outside to hunt amongst the camps... found him outside!

Thanks!

Once you follow the directions to get to the camp from the previous poster and pass under/through the wooden gate to the main part of their village, the road forks north and east.
To the east, next to an uphill trail, is a small village with about 5 or 6 Furbolg. This is the best place to wait for Dal. While waiting, keep the area clear of Furbolg. I usually wait on the south side of the east fork with my back to the hills, so nothing sneaks up behind me.
Dal is easy to spot because he's about a head taller than the other Furbolgs.

20 seconds run north of Ash bridge is a path east/right, easiest to stay on the left after entering.&nbsp You must use this path, no other entrance it seems.&nbsp After about 4 fights you will see the large wooden gates to the village where he is located. Go through the gates, again staying on the left.&nbsp You will see a camp of many on the left.&nbsp He will be in that camp or wandering close by.&nbsp He is larger and different color.&nbsp Cross over to the other side/right side and just wait for him to come out. Watch and be careful others wander also.&nbsp As he starts north after his east move, tag him for a pull all the way to you at the base of the hill.&nbsp He will stay alone if you do it correct. Heal first, then loot him and retreat to hill base again.&nbsp Go out similar to entry.

I did this as a level 25 druid. After you get to his camp at 38,32, be a cat and prowl down the hill past the first camp on your right. You'll see another little camp. You want to kill the guys between and ONLY between there. You don't want to agro everything. The trick is that this guy walks between the two camps every few minutes, so if you've killed the few guys in between you just have to wait for this guy to walk there.

head southeast out of Astranaar and then take a left towards Iris Lake. Follow the path towards Greenpaw. You will kill a lot of bears and stalkers on the way. Once there, kill a few warriors and shamans, but the chief if hanging right there. Good luck!

Just west of Astranaar is a road going north. As you move up the road there are various Furbolg camps. Past these you see a wood stockade -- go through that and you are in Thistlefur village.

The part of the village you are in is the lower half. Back in the middle of the village the road turns left and runs uphill to another set of huts. Dal spawns up in this upper set of huts.

In between the two sets of huts there are only one are two mobs, and nothing else wanders in. So it's safe to kill them and then you have plenty of time to sit there and pull the mobs from Dal's camp and kill them safely until you can get Dal single.

They have a camp right behind Astranaar at (34,35), There is a trail that leads there at (31,46) right outside the left side of Astranaar.

Dal Bloodclaw: 31.35 you will see him and he comes with two adds.
They do heal him.

He is pretty easy especially for a rogue and they said the location so i will talk about the adds. THERE ARE NONE IF YOU KILLED THEM BEFORE THE FIGHT! Look at his path and kill the ones close to you. Don't just try to aggro him, kill the others before you do. Make a space for the fight and take him there.

Just wait for him to roam to a place where you can aggro only him.&nbsp

It didn't take me long to finish this.&nbsp The quest rewards aren't great, but the furbolgs are good experience and have decent loot.

Found a few dropped lockboxes on the Furlongs. Its the first chance I've had to skill up on lockpicking. With stealth 2 I pickpocketed 2 of them. Fun quest with level 23 and 24 beasts. Boss is 25, an easy kill but runs like h*ll towards his buds when almost dead. I drew him over to the corner opposite the first camp after the gates and popped out of stealth to draw just him. I made sure to clear out a retreat path first lol. It was a one on one battle until he ran away after I'd almost finished him. When he turns his back on you , pounce on him quick.

I thought this was going to be an agonizing quest at first considering the location of the boss, but really as a 25 Druid it was quite enjoyable. While most people would advise you to prowl in, you miss out on some very nice stuff if you don't kill at least a few Avengers/Shamans. They often drop Wool Cloth for profit and cheap as well as green items that you can sell or AH. I think I may actually use this area as a grinding spot for a level with all of its close mobs in plentiful numbers.

The guy's a real pushover though. There's an elite Furbolg in one part of the village that's a 25 Elite and is much harder than him (but still not bad), and it still doesn't get bad. Just don't attract a ton of adds and you should be fine. It will look like he stands in a camp only, but just be patient and he'll begin to move on to the next group.

Soloed as lvl 22 warrior

The hard part was to get past the shamans and avengers without aggroing more than one at a time.
Once i put sunder armor and demoralizing shout on him, it was a walkover

found him in a camp left to the path leading to the hold. Was thinking on how to aggro, when suddenly he started walking.

After that, it's just the matter of aggroing him when he's walking (which was quite easy)

I did it at level 23 with my NE druid just a few minutes ago. He was originally with his buddies, but after a bit of watching he walked away from some of them.

Then I pulled him with Starfire (risky because of the charge time...>.>)and then commenced to beat the ever-loving crap out of him. Really easy battle. Didn't even have to deal with more than just him.

Did this at level 28 so the quest just turned green to me. Pretty straight forward quest- kick Dal's ass, rob him of his skull, return to Raene.

To Find Dal, head west out of Ashenvale following the paved road. Not too far after crossing the bridge is a path near a totem pole on the right side of the road, the path heads north. Dal will be wandering up and down that path. Simple.

I was able to drop him with 1 Pyroblast and 2 Fireballs. Dal is NOT an elite MOB, just a named.

At level 28 i got 2000 exp and 110 reputation points with Darnassus, 18 silver and Restoring Balm.

He doesn't stay in the same camp. He wanders around patrolling the other camps. So you have to check in the immediate area for a black-grey haired furbolg from 33,40 to 40,33 on the little black road they made.

100 Rep with Darnassus.

Dal will come out stop at each of the little log hut things, have a brew with his buds and move on to the next after a minute or two. It's like a bar crawl. Just hit him like a mugger would: when he's all alone. 'Course, instead of his wallet, you're taking his skull, but whatever...

Very easy quest for getting nice exp. Did it at lvl 25 (on my druid) without any problem. Like OverlordQ said, be a little patient and pull it. In the worse, you can just clean the area a bit before you pull him. He's a simple lvl 25 teddy bear easy to kill :)
