The Crone of the Kraul

Bring Razorflank's Medallion to Falfindel Waywarder in Thalanaar.
Razorflank's Medallion

Description

Poor Heralath! And this dwarf... Lonebrow. What a brave soul he was.

We must not let their valiance go for naught. This crone... Charlga Razorflank ... must be stopped.

Surely, infiltrating the Kraul will be perilous. There isn't time to send word to Darnassus. <name>, assemble a party to slay the crone.

Bring me Razorflank's Medallion as proof of demise.

I, lvl 40 Priest, did this quest with a 40 Hunter last night. The best way to find her is when you enter the cave stay to your right. You can bypass all the boss mobs (ie. Overlord, Deathspeaker). Keep on going until you hit serveral bridges. Be careful because there are a lot of mobs, including mobs that will hide. Eventually you'll find a cave with bats. In this cave go left until you see the bats. Then stay to your right. IGNORE THE FORCEFIELD. The crone is NOT there and the fight was quite tough. All that is there is a huge boar which dropped some lame pants. Keep on going right until you see a camp with some totemics. Patience, you're almost there. Kill those and walk out and keep going until you see the top of a tower. Buff up and prepare for battle. She wasn't to tough. She casts a lot of magic, never healed herself while we killed her though. She dropped the shield and the medallion.

The quest give is in Thalanaar - which is on the edge of 1k needles and Feralas (near the Flight Path)

You must get the journal from the corpse at the bottom of the great lift in 1k needles before you can get this quest.

to aquire the medallion you'll need to kill razerflank, she is the last boss in RFK - and yes she does talk alot :p

She is located at 40,88 in Razorfen Kraul in barrens, when u enter the instance go to the right side, its a long way,I spend like an hour to find her, but u can get there, I do it with my lv44 hunter, piece of cake...lol yeah she talks too much... I hope it helps

And by the way, the instance is in the Barrens, not in Thousand Needles. When you face the lift, it's to your right.

The shield you get from the quest has an iLvL of 35+, as such you can get +18 Stamina on it, making it the best Twink shield to date.

mage solo guide for charlga

i did this quest at lvl 47 by myself just to get the shoulderpads cuz mine were really crappy. i went through killing stuff and ended up dying when i aggroed like 8 mobs. i went in again another time with everything respawned, and i walked past everything (the aggro radius is small cuz the mobs are 'grey' color) i didnt kill a single mob until i reached charlga. use blink to bypass mobs and especially patrols on bridge. blink has a 15s cooldown but if you time it right you can blink right past the patrols twice. worst comes to worst you might have to kill a few if you aggro by accident.

while fighting charlga, you'll notice she casts some shield on herself. dont use any mana just use your dagger and hit her 2-3 times until it doesnt say 'immune' anymore. i guess the shield nullifies 2-3 of your attacks. its pretty easy. you might have to use a mana pot/jade and maybe a health pot too.

keep in mind, this is for solo. if you have a group its pretty straightforward :)

Leatherworkers, the bats were awesome. They drop 1-2 pieces of medium and heavy each.

She talks smack through the whole fight, can instantly refill her mana at any point, constantly casts regen and shield on herself, chain lightning spams ... fun fight. Beat her solo with a 40 Druid with no hassles.

You only need to do the Lonebrow's Journal quest first. You must be level 29 to initiate it. See vttale's post above for details.

Razorfen Kraul's meeting stone is located at coords 31,17 in the southern Barrens.

I was also able to find the crone and the directions above are quite good.&nbsp There is a long way to go through there in order to get to her, but if you find the cave with the bats, you're on the right track.&nbsp I attempted the crone as lvl 37 druid alone.&nbsp Didn't quite happen.&nbsp If you're going in you better be good at dps, cause there is a lot of healing that will go on and mana seems to replenish whenever the crone wills it to.&nbsp I think i had the crone down to half health 2x and 3/4 hp another 2x and each resulted in a full heal and me watching my mana disappear as i'm trying to keep alive.

Difficult part may have been that the crone was receiving heals from below... Tried to pull her outta the hut and onto the ledge, but she was very difficult to move.&nbsp Every time i backed out she immediately went to magic.&nbsp Gonna go back at lvl 39/40 or with a rogue and try again.

I solo'd this last night as a 44 hunter. Not too difficult at all, although my poor pet snuffed it 12 times. Sometimes you try to pull 1 and 5 come to the party ! Oops ! Time to 'Feign Death' and let the pet take one for the team.

I only died once - the bats surprised me and I let my guard down. Other than that, as long as you keep your pet happy (i.e. fed) it's very do-able. All it takes is some patience. Make sure you always set traps before you let loose with the pet and the arrows ! This is critical if the pet loses aggro and you have to melee.

The crone herself was surprisingly easy to take down, as I caught her all alone. Amazing ! Got some decent loot, including a decent mail helm off of one of the lesser bosses. As soon as I turn lvl 45 I plan to do the instance 'accross the street', Razorfen Downs, solo. Should take a bunch of hours, but I'll be packing tons of meat for the owl and health/mana potions for moi.

I've run this instance a few times as Horde, and while it's fun and I plan to go back, it's reasonably hard with a good level-appropriate group. I wouldn't count on soloing it like a couple posts above.

Easier to find if you've played the other side and know the Barrens, but directions above are great. It really is easy to walk into the much-harder Razorfen Downs instead of Razorfen Kraul, right across the road from each other, if you don't already know the way. A bit hard getting an Alliance group to go in here, though. It's not a bad walk from Ratchet or even Theramore compared to getting to Scarlet Monastery from Southsore, but folks aren't as excited about going.

There are two Razorfen areas before the lift.&nbsp The one the Crone is Razorfen Kraul (to the west of the path). There are level 22 - 23 elites out the front (rather than level 32 - 33's out the front of the other Razorfen area).&nbsp

Also, when fighting the mistriss herself - note that she can regen ALL (yes all) her mana in one spell, so trying to keep her drained doesn't work too well.&nbsp She will also throw up a shield at the worst possible time.&nbsp

basically a 4 person grp of level 32+ will be able to do this.&nbsp keep to the right, and u will pass a few mini bosses who u can avoid or fight for the loot.&nbsp u cannot go too far wrong.&nbsp

i tried this in a grp of 3, lvl 32-36 and we didnt get very far.&nbsp its really hard to make a group too, because nobody is in that area - it took me 3 hours to make a group.&nbsp worth it for those shoulder pads though.

The crone drops 3 very nice items, a Spirit ring, a nice shield (buckler size) and possibly an axe, although I have yet to see the 1h axe after 10 tries.&nbsp The shield is roughly the same stats as the quest one, but less in stat bonusses.&nbsp You can look it up in the items section for exact stats.&nbsp The axe is roughly 24 dps, and pretty fast, and 1h.&nbsp The spirit ring is very nice for any mana user, and it is also listed.&nbsp I think it was +9 spi.&nbsp Just FYI.&nbsp The shield is called Agamamnan or somethign like that.

You probably went into Razorfen Downs, because that place has level 36-40 mobs, and should be done by people level 38+ (unless ur a priest =P). I did it easily with one (1) poorly equipped 60 warrior lol.

Yeah, guess who had to clear the entire RFK zone because I couldnt find a way up out of the pit to get to Razorflank? Yep, me.... lol, horrible. thought the quest was going to take 10 minutes tops and I was in there forever. Not too big of a deal cause it gave me a chance to DE a lot of drops.... still a pita tho.

Why would I skip a boss that drops and AWESOME dagger that I can use? I'm a rogue. it's not like I even get anything from that quest anyway (Cloth,Mail,Shield) rogues don't use any of those. I'd rather have a AWESOME dagger than an item I can't use.

While the shield would be a tempting reward for mail wearers they should also consider going for the girdle, especially if Razorflank drops the similar-quality shield himself.
