To reach the swamp as alliance (horde has a flight path in) get to Darkshire, then take the road out of town to the east. Keep looking to go east and you wil reach the swamp.

Once in the swamp, take the road down the hill. When the road turns east, immediately exit it on the south side. You will find an area with a small pool, around which are a number of flying dragon whelps. These were level 34-36, and dropped the dust with reasonable frequency.

Go to bootybay, run to Grom'gol or take the windrider..

follow the path up north.. then you come in Duskwood..

follow to road to the east and you will end up in Deadwind Pass.. keep heading east, watch out for the birds they're nasty.. )

and you'll see where Swamp of Shadows is then. the first co-ords are the right one to go to. (1st post)

The first time I did this I thought I'd follow the roads. - Mistake

If you do that, you'll end up in Darkshire (bad move).

Once you get to Duskwood from STV (assuming you don't want to fight your way through), just hug the mountainside to your right (east) all the way around until you spot the first road (you may have to fight a few low level mobs, but they're easy).

Hang a right on that road and that should lead you into Deadwind Pass...Continue on into Swamp of Sarrows.&nbsp

From there, the coords and hints listed previously work fine.

This was among the easiest kill quests I've done.
Great for a Level 38 Night Elf Druid!

Why?

1. The Green Whelps attack with Nature - Night Elf Druid's have +15 resistance, which means even 3 at a time, these guys are notthing to be worried about

2. In Cat form, these guys take about 10 second to slaughter. Tiger's Fury + Ravage, followed by Rake and they're history

3. Drop rate isn't that bad at all

4. As a leatherworker, the Green Whelp Scales these guys produce sell well at AH.

5. Very easy to get to for Alliance with Darkshire fp (head east) and for Horde who already have Stonard fp (head west).

6. XP and Gold gained in 20 minutes of completing this quest was roughly 15,000XP and about 15 gold after sales at AH

This quest was worth every moment it the time it took.

10/10 from me!

12,60 are the right coords, for anyone who doesn't have cosmos once you enter the swamp just go right and you should be in that area. I was a lvl 35 hunter when I did this, but I think I could have done it if I was lvl 34. Anyways, the drop is alright, I spent like maybe around twenty minutes farming for the dream dust. Just be careful when you are fighting the Dreaming Whelps. They can put you to sleep for about 20 seconds, anytime I fought one I was always put to sleep so my pet had to do most of the work. But beside from that this area is perfect for people grinding around lvls 34 and 35. You will make a lot of dough out of it, I kept on getting money from like every other kill and by the end I had 25g since I had 24g before I started farming. You can get a lot for the vender trash that they drop.

I got the 10 dusts in 26 kills, so not too bad.

For Alliance, if you haven't yet, you might as well establish the flight path to Nethergarde Keep in The Blasted Lands. Just be careful on your way over for the Stonard Horde keep, but once you get out of Swamp of Sorrows, it's an aggro-free run. Quick way to get back to Darkshire or SW.

There is also a string of Alliance quests you can pick up in this area, from Watcher Biggs just off the path to the East of where you fight the Whelplings. The first quest in the sucession is:

(Quest #1396) luck!

While some have said the drop rate is terrible, it is possible I got lucky. About 1/4 dropped for me, it seemed. These little guys are located just east after you enter the Swamp. Also, if you're really lucky, you could get a Tiny Emerald Whelping (very rare pet) to drop off of one of the Dreaming Whelps. I did this at 35 with no problems. Be careful to aggro only one at a time or you can get swarmed.

Anyone else feel bad for the little dragons when they die? They sound so sad.:)

The place to be is around a pond just south of the main road in.&nbsp Middle of pond is at 14,60.&nbsp The area is called Itharius's Cave due to the night elf in a cave at the bottom of the valley (he is green for horde but has nothing to say to you, he is a high-end alliance questgiver it would appear).

The adolescents and the dreamers both drop dream dust at about the same rate from what I could tell.&nbsp They are both powderpuff caster mobs that go down fast in melee.&nbsp I grinded there as a lvl36 druid and when I would crit on my catform opener, the fight was over in less than 5 seconds.&nbsp At ~200xp per kill, this is a great grinding spot.&nbsp

There are two swamp jaguars you have to contend with, one on each side of the pond, but they are lvl36-37 and are no big thing.&nbsp Respawn for everything is fast and this is also a good herbalism spot with liferoot, fadeleaf, blindroot and so on.

The mobs also drop small flame sacs about 1 in 10-15, which sell well at AH and are also useful for a number of things (including Dragonbreath Chili).&nbsp These are the lowest level mobs in the game that drop these if I am not mistaken.

I have to agree that the quest can be very easy, Though the quest is in a contested, (and horde heavy,) area. Most of the high levels are on their way to Duskwood to Gank, and don't bother to stop and look around for alliance in the swamp itself. You will be bothered by little, if any, gank pvp. If you look around a little, the dragons respawn quicker than one person can kill them all. The drop rate, I admit, is pretty bad. But if you go at a time when server traffic is low (aka Not Prime Time) you should have no compitition for this quest and the drops will seem more frequent.

I don't have any Horde toons high enough to enter the swamp yet, but from what I have seen Alliance traffic is pretty much Ziltch. You shouldn't have to look over your sholder much.

If you follow Komani's excellent directions above to reach the Swamp of Sorrows, go to the south-west corner of the province.

The drop rate isn't wonderful but the way the creatures spawn is good, in that it's quick enough that you don't have to spend time searching for them, but slow enough that you seldom have to fight more than one at a time.

12.60, that is an accurate coord. in and around there, they drop just fine. killed both dreaming AND adolescent whelps, pretty sure i was getting the dust off both. but the drop rate isn't half bad. took me maybe half an hour and in that time also found random vendor trash, one jade, and what looks to be a decent pair of level 29 leather boots. not to mention 1-2 silver per kill. not bad at all.

the swamp jaguars i had to kill cause they were biting my minion, by the way, do not drop dream dust :P

Completely soloable for a bored level 30 Paladin. Judge and Seal Light and do whatever while you're beating on them. Lots of good mining opportunities... and if you're whining about the gankage, whyTF are you playing on a PVP server? That's what PVP server *is*.

This quest is SO annoying. The drop rate is pretty pitiful on the whelps, and to top it off you have to compete with people farming the whelps for whelplings! At lvl 39 I am WAY to little to go hunt the elite dragonkin near the sunken temple. Their drop rate is lower anyway. Stupid farmers :p
