There is a small murloc village north of the house where the guy asks you to find 40 spider eyes. The drop rate is 20% there, all other murlocs in the region have an 8% drop rate (check the thottbot stats).

With only 20% (or less) murlocs having heads it's no wonder neither the hoarde or the alliance recruited them... -)

You get the quest from Mudcrush Durtfeet at 34,38(A bit south of Brackenwall)
You can find a small tribe of the murlocs at 56,22 but there's a much larger bunch on this peninsula at 58,15.

Ok I finaly figured this quest out. The orge wants fish.. don't sit and fish like I did at first. The fish are a drop off of the murlocks NE of quest giver at tloc 36,38 level 35 - 36 or if you want the safe way go to the beach. I did it at level 34 and the murlocs ( on beach / islands just off beach ) are levels 36-38. Take a friend or go slow. Took me about 1 hour in travel and kill time Exp was 2800. If you need any extra info message me on medivh server "mysticalmage"

There are no longer murlocs in the area, there are ghosts and such.

To complete this quest go to the beach just over the mountains (straight over) and kill them on the coast and islands.

For my level 37 Shaman, the droprate wasn't that bad at all. It wasn't 1:1, but at least one out of every five or six would drop a head.

There's a nice little group of murlocs a smidge Northwest of "Swamp Eye" Jarl. They walk around a lot but they're spread out. They also respawn very quickly so you never have to pick off the tethered ones nearest the huts. I didn't notice if the head dropped faster from one kind of murloc than another.

57, 21 Only problem about this place is that you can aggro more than one (2-3) Since they're so close together.

As a Warlock, Im glad I have my Voidwalker to take *most* of the hits, I tank the other 2 while he takes on two. Oh, make sure you use Curse of Recklessness too, these guys run around and aggro the rest of the mobs. =_=

I was on the shore waiting, taking a look at the murlocks...suddenly: "Entering Combat". "- What was that?" I thought millions of things: allys, murlocks under the water, tortoises...but no. It was a Coral Shark level 46 Elite. If I had entered the water, I would have been killed. So watch out before entering.

I tried killing every type of murloc for quite some time. There is no way the drop rate was higher than 10% from any of them. It was rather frustrating. Eventually, I decided it wasn't worth it.

The actual coordinates of Mudcrush Durtfeet are [35.1, 38.2] I'm standing in front of him right now. As for the droprate of the Mirefin Heads, I would say it's about 30% but you can check obviously. The Mirefin Murlocs are along the coast, I killed most of mine around [54, 15] I did this quest as a level 35 Warlock, I only died once, thank god for my Soulstone. I actually got level 36 during this quest so I was happy. Hope this helps.

Bear in mind that the drop rate stats on Anonymous include people who may not have the quest.&nbsp If you don't have the quest, or you are done with the quest but stick around grinding murlocs for some reason (maybe because you like their death chortles?), that reduces the drop rate-- more kills, but no drops, rate goes down.

A small pond and camp at 56, 22 was a marvelous place to be during this quest. On your map, it will look like a tiny pond, just north of Jarl, on Witch Hill.

The spawn rate is great, and two people could easily grind here with little to no conflict.

The Mulocs here gave me a drop rate of about 1:5.

I finished with all 12 heads within 25 minutes.

The post by HelloSonya below was spot on and if anything, understated just how thickly populated this small area (56.22) is with Murlocs. That can be a good thing or a bad thing. I went late at night so there had been virtually no thinning of the herd and since I had missed everything but the Tabetha quest in Dustwallow, my 42 Lock was catching up on some of the lower level quests as well as the +40 quests out of Brackenwall. My character was a bit over-powered for this quest, but in a way, it was all for the best.

Take the road north from Brackenwall to get to this location unless you want to get all turned around and unnecessarily bitten and snapped at all the way through the swamp. You will have to pass a couple of small enemy camps along the road which are easy to bypass and fun to wipe out too. After that the road makes a big loop when it goes by North Point tower. That's a quest you can combine this quest with, which comes from a stranded sailor in Brackenwall. You can rescue a woman and retrieve the sailor's lost cargo on the way to the Murlocs for a quick two quests.

I hate Murlocs, so slaughtering them was a lot of fun, but things can easily get out of control since they're so concentrated in such a small area. My minion and I were taking them on in pairs and threes but then I started losing control of them and runners were getting away and my Voidwalker was bringing half the village down on us by chasing them down for the kill. We were knee deep in murlocs and within a hair's breadth of getting wiped out a couple of times, so my advice is to take it easy and play the edges because, as most of you know, murlocs are runners and are good at coming to the aid of their buddies.
