Centaur Ear (15)

Description

Many clans make up the centaur race. Each has its own leader and agenda, but all the clans have one thing in common. Cruelty.

If we are to ever find peace, then the centaurs must be removed. And so I put you on the task to do just that.

While wandering Desolace, hunt centaur and take their ears. Bring me many, many ears.

Do this in service of the Alliance, <name>, and we will be one step closer to war's end.

Might I suggest doing this quest along with Brutal Politics/Strange Alliance. The ears drop off of them as well and you will probably finish the ears before you've gotten friendly with the faction of your choice. Also the mobs won't attack you seeing as how you will be neutral with them.

Good luck!

If you go to the Magram village, Warug is on the hillside to the east of it.&nbsp There is a torch behind him. It is east and slightly north. Unfortunately I do not have his coordinates at this time.

How do we add quests, there is no "Brutal Politics" or "Alliance" (whatever the full name is) quest on Anonymous

Very low indeed ..... the 18% drop rate of the kolkars is slightly off ........ more like 10% if not lower. Killed about 50 of these so far and only got 3 ears.

Why can't you get an ear off every centaur you kill? Are centaurs that can hear, that rare?

By Anonymous on 09/29/2005 (Patch 1.7.1)
If you do either one of the faction quests first, the opposite faction will have a 100% droprate on the ears (at least it was for me). Otherwise the droprate will take exactly as long as the faction quest.

I have killed enough Gelkis to up my reputation with the Magram to good (grren) but I can't find Warug to complete the quest. When I look at the quest in my quest log, "Complete" is next to the quest -I just need to talk to Warug to get credit. I have been around the entire camp many times, but no Warug?

Any advice?

I would do this quest while doing the "brutal politics" quest. Kill centaurs in the Gelkis Village to gain reputation and they also drop the centaur ears. You are going to be grinding for a long time anyways so might as well get 2 quests done at once.
Gelkis Village is around 33,88 i believe.

I chose to kill the ghelkis, and I timed it. It took me 59 minutes to kill enough to get faction. The cool thing was i got the last centaur ear at the same time i got the faction. So really, didn't matter to me, was not a waste of time but admittedly it was boring.

I finished this at level 32. The reward was awesome in terms of XP, having the whole XP bar rested till level 33.

It came as a sort of revelation to me that I only had to kill the centaurs and not the others, which was good, could have finished it earlier at level 30-31

I'm not sure how a previous poster got adds so easily.. They're rather spread out most of the time. There are a few easily avoided groups, but otherwise the only real problem with the quest is the horrendous drop rate.

Not as hard a grind as everyone makes it out to be. Did it with my level 33 lock in about 45 minutes. Had to kill about 100 of them but drop rate was about 15 percent.
I don't know if anyone else may be confused by this but even though you are looking for centaur ears, all of the similar looking guys drop them: windchasers, scouts, etc.
There is where the supposed low drop rate is. My drop rate (as mentioned above) was 10-20%.

It seemed to go alot faster for me when i focused on only the centaurs that had centaur in there name, that excludes scouts, tramplers, and windchasers. just focus on the centaurs and it will be quick and painless.

Just ran this on my GF's druid today, and would put the drop rate on them closer to 50% to me. Not sure if they've buffed the rate, or if I just got really lucky. Never pulled more than one at a time, either, but you have to make sure to keep them from running at low health if you can.
