Monstrous Crawler Leg (10)

Description

There's a high demand for the succulent taste of crawler meat among my customers; especially the meat from the monstrous crawlers.

If you plan on heading to the coast, then I could easily make it worth your while to bring me back some of their legs to have transported back to Orgrimmar.

The coast is to the east from here, and you should have no problem finding the creatures scurrying along the beaches and under the sea.

The drop rate isn't the best for these guys, but make sure you're only killing Monstrous Crawlers and NOT Silt Crawlers.

I had trouble finding Monstrous Crawlers along the beach, but found plenty of them under water on the ocean floor.

95,71 is a good area. Just swim up and kill along the way.

Okay, so I spent 45 minutes up at 90,12 and waited and waited for respawning.&nbsp Then on my way south, I discover the monstrous ones are all over the coast around 92, 35.

Get some breathing water from the AH if you do 90,12 all underwater, killed 20 for 10 legs.

Highly recommend 92,35 instead, most on the beach.

Here are my findings on this quest at level 42:

Killing location:
Misty Reed Strand
90,23 - 94,45 on land
100,23 - 100,45 in water

Target:
Monstrous Crawler (lvl 43-44)
(approximately 7~9 in the given location)

Drop rate:
42% (22 kills for 10 legs)

Rewards:
~281 XP per kill, 3750 XP Quest Reward, 250 Orgrimmar Reputation and the material quest rewards - at 45,57.

Comments:
Simply walk up and down on the beach between the given location and / or swim between the given location until you have all the needed legs - fairly easy.

Not too tough quest for the XP (3k+), the Monster Crawlers are lvl43-44. Drop rate seems to be about 20-25%. Forget about the crabs on shore, unless you're prepared to kill Murlocks (they're 43-45, and annoying as always). There are far more crabs in the water. Go through the southern area of the Swamp, kill the spiders in the way, collect some Spider Silk. Get in the water, swim out to the drop off, and make your way north. All you have watch out for is the occasional croc, and a lvl47 Elite Coral Shark. The northernmost area, almost right by Red Mountains, has an underwater plateau, and there are a ton of crabs there.

If you have the apothecary quest from Darkwoods, you can also find the Shadow Panthers (lvl43) all the way up and down along the shore. There's no other mob in the way, but the drop rate on the Panther Hearts is low. So when you're done with crabs, that's your route back.

As usual, Undead will find this quest easy, as we can spend unlimited amounts of time underwater... something about being already dead?

You HAVE to go north for this quest. The drop rate in the south side of the coast was around 1:15 for me but up north around 90,10 it was 1 out of 3 or 4. There are fewer crawlers up there but the quest is MUCH quicker. Just keeping going around that area with the 2 islands up north and waiting for respawns. I would go crazy looking for these things down on the south coast. Good luck.

I don't know about this quest. I've killed 30 of these things so far and have only collected 4 legs. The drop rate is pretty bad.

First: be sure you are hunting after Monstrous Crawlers, not the Silt Crawlers (as mentioned several times earlier). Monstrous Crawlers are 41-43, Silt are lower level.

Second: They mostly spawn in the deep water (I have seen some on the shore), my best drop-rate actually occured as far away from the shore as you can get (within visual distance of the black water "fatigue" zone), watch out for 40 Elite Coral Sharks however. I found them from the far south of the zone all the way to the north of the zone. You won't even be on the zone map anymore if you are out far enough.

Third: Be smart, pull them close to the surface if you aren't able to breath underwater (Forsaken, Warlocks, Druids, etc). That's a long ways to run for a corpse run.

Lastly: the drop-rate isn't great, but that seems to be true of the majority of WoW fetch quests.

Ignore the doomsayers. As noted here on wowhead, the drop rate is around 38%. Not great, but not horrible.

The good: these crabs don't hit hard and drop Zesty Clam Meat which is needed for the 300 cooking skill quest: http://classicdb.ch/?quest=6610 - they also have a regular loot table. I picked up a couple greens along the way and you most likely will, too. It's also good to do the Lack of Surplus quest, http://classicdb.ch/?quest=698 while you're at it if you're Horde. The croc's in the water drop the quest item as well as the lower ones inland by Stonard.

The bad: aside from a few spots, they aren't on the beach, but are out at sea, interspersed among sawtooths that are aggressive. You will most likely spend a lot of time swimming just to get them.

The ugly: they're often around murlocs. fkin murlocs.

If you have a Murloc quest, then definitely skim the shores at first, particularly the middle and northern shores (they seem more populous there).

If you don't need to kill Murlocs, then swim out by the islands off the southern portion of the coast, and hunt around the deep waters.&nbsp They're more numerous, and the drop rate seems a lot better (at least it does to me).

As was said just before, if you're not a waterbreathing character (undead, druid, etc) then stay close to shallow water.&nbsp Personally I'm a feral druid and I had no problems with drowning, but I did cut it close a few times (shifting to cat form to fight and then back to aquatic form as soon as I could).

Wether spiral's nor Croustique's coords helped alot. I just farmed the whole beach and even the single crawlers between the murlock camps...took years to finish. If you can skip that quest do it...it's just not worth it. The low drop rate just shows what this game is all about -> grinding mobs...this is no quest Blizzard!

I found this quest to be somewhat annoying. There are a lot of silt crawlers which are little lvl 40-42 crabs along the beach, however they do not drop the leg for the quest. You need the monsterous crawlers which are 44 crabs. The best place i found to get them is about midway up the coast, or around 94,44 on the cosmos map. There are a few that spawn along the beach as well as spawns out in the sea. The drop seems somewhat uncommon.

I think people have really lost touch with this game. Instead of taking the time and enjoying playin, its all about xp and how fast you can do a quest. I did the quest. The Full quest. It took me 1 full swim from the bottom of the beach to the top of the beach to achieve all 10. Maybe 30-45 min AT TOPS. There are lots worse quests than this out there. Got 2100xp at lvl 51 and didnt have to kill 1 murloc!

Pretty easy. Look around 90.90 - If you're not Undead or Druid, be prepared to spend a lot of time underwater, so plan accordingly... The crabs are 41-44, but hardly a thread really. The drop rate wasn't as bad as the long swim it was to findthe next one.

Make sure you look for Monstrous Crawlers. Just those. They're yellow and won't attack you first, unlike the crocs and murlocs.

i was having quite a bit of trouble with this quest til i figured out that I'd been killing a lot of the wrong thing. The Silt Crawlers won't drop the legs, only the Monstrous Crawlers will. Once you're killing the right mob, I think that the drop rate is just about the same as every other quest. People complaining about it probably were killing the wrong thing half the time.

I found the best place to find Monstrous Crawlers was just off the coast, in the water. It worked well to do this quest along with the basilisk drops quests. Kind of annoying since the drop rate is low, but I'm still using the belt :/

I think this may be one of the most annoying quests. These mobs are spread thinly. And, drop a claw infrequently. I spent a couple hours before finding a decent area. I found a decent route circling the rocks out in the water. And, the quest reward is WEAK for time spent...

Underwater quests as a whole are unpleasant, but when your mob is orange to you, hits pretty hard, is spread thinly down a whole coast, and drops your quest item hardly ever, it's simply as the subject says... AWFUL!

The one pro to this quest is that they don't swim away at low health

for several days ive been working this quest and the drop rate is very very low. I know the underwate redrock (sp) area is a better place for this. Not all drop, so be prepared to wait awhile. Someone was helping who didnt have quest, this had no advantage. Seemed to take even longer. I have spents hours on this quest. Seems like 2 hours each time i go down there
I only have 5/10. So be aware. No need to go down by the murlocs just yet, so recommend against this. Stay North and just hold out. Hoping to get the other 5 before the server goes down, lol

Yes, the drop rate is terrible and murlocs are always annoying, but here's a tip for hunters who want to stick it out. For crawlers out in the open ocean and that are deep down, keep as close to the surface as possible while still being in range, then take a shot at them and let them come to you before letting your pet attack them. Chances are that if you're around the same level as the mobs (I did it at 43) then they'll go to your pet anyway, allowing you to back up and shoot them. This way, when they die you don't have to go way deep down to loot them. And that, I found, greatly decreases the chance of taking damage because you can't get to the surface fast enough.

If you are one of those people who is powerlvling, dont pick up this quest. spawn rate is low, and drop rate isnt great either. I spent an hour and a half combing the beach. your not even grinding s you do so, just a total lack of exp per hour. you spend most of your time swimming or just riding around on the shore .... avoid.
