Hi Guys and girls.&nbsp For anyone who is on the Sunscorched Shells q - this was a right pain in the asss as i covered all of the barrens entering it from the north all the way down to the south.&nbsp Then after covering all the map i noticed on the left hand side /West.&nbsp There is like a little archive u can enter - Cords are 13.34 Highperch. Enter there and u will notice egg shells on the floor to loot.&nbsp All monstors are lvl 29... I hope this helps :)

Ok so this is my first post and just so that everyone knows, First this quest is simple it is in thousand needles not anywhere else. Second i just finished this quest and as long as you get by the lvl 29-31 wyvern guys your fine i only found 2 spots in the are to get the scorched shells so i waited for them to respawn and got all 20 i Need. Third you are looking for Sunscorched shells NOT eggs.....HINT HINT HINT

As a warrior if you know how to play your TANK then this quest is do able for at least lvl27-whatever i was lvl25 and did it so it aint that damn hard eh ... good hunting .......

The thing about this quest is that is a red quest for me (im lvl 25).
First off the rewards is fire hardened leggings wich have 171 armor and increase stamina and strength by 7. You need to get inside a horde area... kill lvl 30 mobs if im not mistaken and the chance of finding the shells is low... Cureently as a lvl 25 i have the Chausses of Westfall wich have 173 armor increase stamina by 5 and strength by 11... And i got this pants at lvl 18...
IMO i rather have less 20 health and 4 more strength points... And it has more armor... Just aint worth it )

So I am confused,&nbsp I have read that this is both in the barrens and in 1k needles.&nbsp So which is it?&nbsp I am lvl 37, so I'll be fine whereever, but quest is still green so Ill go grab it real quick. Barrens or 1k Needles ladies and gentlemen?

Just completed this as level 30 warrior and it works just fine. (At level 30 it's quite easy since it's mostly 1v1, but every now and then they gang up and 3v1 gets a little hairy...)

You can find the canyon with the shells in at 12,32 as already stated (and it works with all UI's on). BUT, it does take quite a while to find them all, although once you've found one the others are a little easier.

You'll probably need to kill in the region of 30-40 mobs by the time you've found all the shells so plenty of xp - also plenty of good mining opportunities.... I would advise trying to do the quest when the canyon is empty - other players looking for shells at the same time as you would be a real pain since there are so few of them.

BEWARE, there is a footpath in the canyon which leads to a horde quest giver. He will attack you (he's only level 30 so you should kill him easily) BUT, he will trigger your PvP setting and you're in the middle of a horde area........

The eggs required for this quest are lying around on the ground in Highperch of Thousand Needles. They look like hatched eggs.

The ramp to get to the plateau starts at 14,33. There's a big Tauren totem pole where it is.

As a lvl 30 fury/arms spec with several blues, the wyverns (lvl 28-29) prooved to put up a decent fight. And doing this quest without killing them is impossible, as they aggro far enough away that charging them is really difficult. On top of that, the shells you need are far apart and there's not that many of them, so you get to run around the place a couple times, killing a whole bunch of the wyverns.

As of patch 2.3, the shells shimmer, making them a lot easier to find, and thanks to the lowered amount of XP needed to level, you may just gain a level or two killing your way through all the wyverns.

Overall, soloable at lvl 30, but bring plenty of food and/or bandages. And be very careful taking on more than one wyvern at the time, they hit a lot harder than you'd think, and they poison you which slows down your attacks.

Completion of this quest leads to Mathiel's Armor and its reward, the Fire Hardened Leggings.

sure, there are some pridewing wyverns in stonetalon mountains, but you dont get shells from them:)

i am going to thousand needles if i complete will tell how about wyverns there.

I have been to Thousand needles and can not click on the eggs or anything else.&nbsp Can someone give me some insight on how to finish or where I need to be.

can someone tell me what quests i need to do before i can to the quest to get the whirl wind axe because im lvl 35 and still cant get the whirlwin axe quest

&nbsp &nbsp I hear you all loud and clear, but the thing that is still cloudy is....Whats the pay off? What does this quest give you? and What does it do? I only ask because this quest sounds time consuming and it would be nice to know before going in to it...thanx all!

I'm level 21 and can't loot the eggs. I think there's a level requirement for looting them. A bit odd :P

Anyway, if you go to the egg place, be sure to catch the Flight Path at the border of Feralas and Thousand Needles.

edit: No level requirement. Some of the shells can't be picked up. The Sunscorched Shells are deeper in the gorge.

It's even wrong in the game. The Pridewing Wyverns are in Stone Talon Mountains and are around lvl 22.

It is 1000 needles.
Also the same location as highperch venom quest.

the sunscorched shells quest is broken so dont even bother going to thousand needles.&nbsp i dont know what moron over at blizzard hates warriors so much to send them to horde zones that are higher level than them but i hope they die.

Hardly worth it - not even as good as the Deadmines/VC quest reward...which I got at 19!&nbsp Now almost 10 levels later they give us a quest for this....

on my warrior i couldnt loot the shells is it bugged?

I guess the prerequisite information (=Mathiel) is not entirely correct.

Even if Furen Longbeard didn't send you to Darnassus to get this quest, as long as the Fire Hardened Mail quest is completed, warriors would be able to accept this quest directly from Mathiel.

By the way, a rather hazordous but nevertheless recommended route (admittedly not the safest ... that would be to pass through Ashenvale and the Barrens) to Highperch is to go back to Menthil Harbor & hop on to the boat to Theramore Isle.

This route involves a (extremely) risky run through Dustwallow Marsh but has two merits.

1) You can pick up a flight path at Theramore Isle, then after picking up the flight path in Thousand Needles (at the Feralas border) you can fly back to Theramore Isle.

2) Also, you can accept the quest "Highperch Venom" from Fiora Longears in the Theramore Isle's inn. Completing "Sunscorched Shells" inevitably involves killing many Wyverns, so why not complete this quest simultaneously.

The best way to enter Thousand Needles is to approach the Great Lift from the left hand side and watch the lift coming up. When you see lift coming up (probably half way through or so), run past the Tauren guard. The Horde guard will chase & smack you, but will not pursue once you hop onto the descending lift (need a little bit of luck, though).

Did anyone actually get the quest Mathiel from Furen Longbeard? I got the one to deliver the note to Grimand Elmore, but for the other two quests, I just went to the guys and got them. Hm. A lot of the warrior quests seem to be insufficiently reported on here.

Ok, today they are all over the highperch.

Well, I have 6/20 shells. So far, I have only found them at the upper part of the highperch.

Location:

* bear left when you reach the opening in the highperch

* Go to the back end and there should be a small path leading up and to the left (take it)

* At the top there should be eggs scattared about

* Since there is only a few, I think you have to wait for them to respawn.

If you are getting scorched shells go to the high perch on the west southwest side of thousand needles. There are a lot of the just lieing around up at the top or just run around killing wyverns at the clover looking part and the shells will keep respawning around the edges.

The reward is usless since killing Termaplug (big boss in gnomergan) you will get blue mail leggings with 300+ armor

If you've done the deadmines quest (specifically killing Van Cleef) and takne the pants as your reward, than this will be pointless. Chausses of Westfall have +2 armor, +6 strenght, -1 stam on the fire hardened pants you get.

Where u get sent is determined by the race of your warrior.
