I Think the item will only drop after you have completed another quest. Once me and my partner finished all quests in redridge, we helped joined a group to kill some gnolls, and it droped for me, and then the next kill droped for my partner, that is after we have killed around 50 of them that day allready.

There are NO prerequisites to get the pendant to drop. Mine dropped randomly while out questing, and I was nowhere near completing all quests in Redridge lol.

is there a prerequisite?...cause i just killed like 200 shadowhide gnolls, warriors, brutes, shadowcasters and assassins and didn't find one of these pendants...i'm a lvl 23 dwarf preist.

but i never did this quest, my guess is that it's a "go talk to this guy" kind of quest, I got the string directly from the Tower of Azora. hope this helps.
