You have to do the Berserker Stance quests first: https://classicdb.ch/?quest=1718, https://classicdb.ch/?quest=1719

Then you get this quest for the weapons: https://classicdb.ch/?quest=1791

By Anonymous on 12/22/2004 (Patch 1.2.0)
This quest begins with one of the warrior trainers in Ironforge as a level 30 quest. He instructs you to go to Fray Island, an island to the South East of Ratchet. Once you speak with the quest NPC on that island, he has you run a veritable gauntlet on that island. You will need to take on roughly 7 level 26 and 27 mobs one at a time. Once you make it through those, a level 33 non-elite challenges you. You will have some time to rest before initiating the fight, however, the entire gauntlet is timed at 10 minutes. Once you make it through this quest, you are given your berzerker stance and the intercept, a Fury ability only usable in Berzerker stance.

The NPC on Fray Island then gives you a level 40 quest to seek out a Troll Shaman in the Alterac Mountains. The Troll gives you the "Cyclonian" quest for the Whirlwind weapons. You must collect 8 burning charms, 8 cresting charms, and 8 thundering charms from the Elementals at the Circles of Binding in the Arathi Highlands as well as collect 8 liferoot and 30 Bloodscalp Tusks from the trolls in Stranglethorn Valley. The Elementals are level 38 and 39, and the Bloodscalps can range from level 32 to 37.

After bringing all the items back to the Troll Shaman's camp, click on the cauldron near him to combine the elemental charms into an elemental elixir, then complete the quest with the shaman. The next quest is the quest to kill the summoned "Cyclonian", a level 40 elite wind elemental. Nothing special about the fight, he acts exactly like the elementals you kill in Arathi. Personally, I killed this mob with myself, being a 37 warrior, and a 39 Mage. He went down like a bag of bricks.

Turn in the Whirlwind Heart to the Troll Shaman and he will make your weapon. The turn-in for the heart gives 2350 XP, and the completion of accepting the weapon will give 4700 XP at level 37 (which is the level I completed this).

Whirlwind Axe: If you want huge burst damage
Whirlwind Sword : If you want pure speed
Whirlwind Hammer: If you want a tiny bit better DPS than the rest

DPS stands for damage per second, its the primary damage averaging both the speed of a weapon and the damage of the weapon, the only difference is by 0.1; sword has 35.5, axe has 35.6, and hammer has 35.7. But if you want the one that looks cool then get the axe, but any of the 3 works, they're almost all the same, so don't get consfused and choose whatever you think is right for you.
If you plan on selling the weapon, just get the sword, it sells highest by 1 silver :P

In case you worry about your low weapon skill in the item of your choise , dont worry , since gaining the weapon skill will not take you more than 10-15mins.

Something i found out while killing the nearby turtles is that using an ability like rend has a very high chance of increasing your weapon skill.

At level 30, a fury warrior should have improved slam. Near-instant attack, combined w the high damage of this axe is quite formiddable.

Arms warriors get improved overpower, which is less dependable overall, but provides a HUGE crit bonus..

either way you cut it, the axe is the best option. BTW, if you REALLY want to rock out on arms, use a shield and a fast dagger pre-40... You will be surprised how little downtime you have that way.&nbsp

The poblem with trying to do it at a lower level is not the main quest but the second part when you have to fight the Cyclonian. I did it at level 31 with the help of a 45 and it was still very hard to do.

WTF.... how do they expect you to be able to do this at lvl 30?.... its impossible... i for one am not part of a guild and as such cannot ask for help on this.. or the warrior quest for the armor that requires a rediculous amount of stuff.....

cmon blizz.. i realize that the wepon is kickazz but... gimme a break here... it seems like they are penalizing people who are NOT part of a guild with high lvl people they can ask for help from.

1. The sword is both ugly and it sucks.. Gay weapon.
2. It is lot better to get the axe, since you can raise crit chance with it in arms. I mean, i got 21.14 crit chance as my level 36 gnome warrior, i crit almost always. and i crit about 500 aswell, one mob goes down in 4 hits +)
3. The mace is good aswell, but it's still better to get +5% crit cho the axe.

The slowest weapon is the best arms weapon. And since the axe is the slowest aswell, well, jsut take the axe, will ya? :)

I know, the Mace looks best, tho, the axe still looks a bit awesome, it roxx :)

I cant give an idea of how tough cyclonian is.. I had a 46 warrior and 57 warlock for backup. I think he was level 040 though, maybe level 40 elite.. I cant remember.

Just a few bits of advice:

- Bloodscalp Tusks. There are at least 3 otehr quests involoving collecting bloodscalp tusks, ears and all other stuff they drop... If you want to get the msot out of it, make sure you have as many as possible when you go to Stranglethorn.
- Liferoot. buy at the auction house. Even if your a herbalist it's not worth wasting time trying to find the liferoots. Unless of course you have alot or all of them.
-Essense of Exile. To avoid confusion, you need to kill the elementals in The Circle of West, East and Outer binding. NOT INNER. Dont waste valauble time there like I did (doh). Each elemental there drops a charm (occasionly, it's not a bonified quest item so tell any party members to leave it) You need 8 charms of each of the 3 elements. When you ahve that, you boil it in the cauldron at the blokey's place. That creates the essensce of exile you so sorely need.

About the weapon, the axe rocks. After getting it, I then went on in that same night to collect 51 honourable kills, not on a BG. For the Horde.

If someone needs the guide how to do the whole quest here it is:
Firts of all u need to do the berserk stance quest you can easyly complete it if you know what you are doing next step is to take the first part of the quest for this weapon. It`s really easy after you take it you need to find a lvl 60 friend beacuse you really need help from him.The troll you are searching is located behind tarren mill you just need to cross the river and go up to alterac untill you find a few trollish ruins and a troll hut with the quest giver in it.You deliver the quest and take the next part. Here`s where the lvl 60 comes in the hearb is bought easyly from the Auction House usually in 10 you need 8 than you need to kill some trolls near grom gol the things don`t drop easyly so it may take about 20-30mins to collect all(atleast it did to me) after you collect all of them you need to go to Arathi there you need to kill the all kinds of elementals fire, wind, water you need to collect 8 esences from each the water drop easyly but fire and wind are harder. After you do this head back to the troll u will need to deliver the quest. After that is the summoning part which isnt very good because you need to kill a lvl 40 elite on lvl 30 after you do this loot him and take the quest item and deliver the quest to the troll and theres youre weapon i did this on lvl 32 so dont worry its not hard on lvl 30 too if u have someone to help you

The axe is good for orc , Because orcs got passive abilty for axies also if you choosed the talent point in Arms for axespecialization it will really be cool for orc . For human you better choose the mace , Because human Have passive abilty for maces which increases it's skills and also you can take the talent in arms . The diffrent between the axe , Mace and the sword is the speed and the Damage , But the damage per second is the same .You can take the axe and Enchant it + 3 % attack speed it will be cool :P:P . And if you choosed the sword Enchant it + 9 Damage . For the mace you can Enchant + 3% attack speed or 9 damage

I did this quest as a lvl 35 warrior with a 45 warlock as backup.

If Cyclonian kills you the first time, you just need to abandon the quest and speak with the troll again. He will summon Cyclonian again for you.

When it comes to the stuff you need to collect for the summoning, (bloodscalp tusks and so on) It all says in the note he gives you. It says where you find all the things and what to do with them. Its only 4 pages so read it you lazy ppl :)

I got the quest from a warrior trainer in ironforge, called "The Islander". Go to fray Island and complete the quests there, then the NPC will give you a quest to speak with this troll in alterac.

And when it comes to choosing weapon, I'd say just go for the Axe. Its overall best for the warrior, great damage combined with cleave, whirlwind, and Especially with Retaliation! Also, if you are arms specced and the target dodges, Its just great to see when the overpower crits for like 500dmg+ and gives the target a deep wound. Love it.

Dont bother about that it is slow, and ppl who say "you get that final strike with the sword as its faster". But hell people, what's the point in execute if not for using it as a final strike?

This quest is real hard to solo if you are under 38 or so, especially the exiles, that are lvl 38-39 are a real hard part. Get a friend to help you.

And for the liferoot, just buy them at the AH.

tip: for the bloodscalp tusks, i got most of them from Bloodscalp Shamans. They seem to have the highest drop rate on them. The hardest part on this quest is not to loose your nerves over horde **sholes who keep ganking in STV.The quest takes about 5-6 hours to complete, just be patient.. It's worth it when you finally have the axe in your hand, Trust me.

I finished this quest a week or so ago with a lvl 60 friend. I got the Warhammer, for a few reasons. I don't care very much about the looks of my weapons, so I didn't really take that into consideration. I didn't really like the sword very much, because I am an Arms warrior, and it sucks for Arms. I have 0 skill in axes, and I'm not even trained in them, so the axe would've cost me more money, and time to level it up. So obviously, I chose the Hammer. Yes, mace specialization is not as good as axe and sword, but by the time I get there, I will probably get Bonebiter from SM. That is the main reason people usually get the Axe, because its specialization is considered the best. Hope this helps!
