Dalaran Status Report

Description

The wizards of the Kirin Tor at Ambermill have stored away important documents pertaining to the current state of Dalaran. This we know from the admissions of one of our prisoners. Lord Varimathras has placed the duty of recovering them in the hands of the Deathstalkers.

This task falls to you, <name>. You will need some equipment, however, and the knowledge of lockpicking. Speak with Estelle Gendry, our outfitter, and ask her for a set of tools before you set out.

Just completed this in under 5 minutes at level 17.

You have to get your lockpicking skills up, which can be accomplished by doing the mission in Rachet where you have to get on the Pirate Ship and get the Southsea treasure (Rogue Quest)

Once you have your skill up, you sneak into the Ambermill Complex at the end of the path (off the Sepulcher Road headed South) and hug the right wall. Sneak into the far South end building/inn, and head upstairs. Once upstairs unstealth and quickly run into the adjacent room. You will aggro the Wizards etc up there, so go ahead and die. Then when you run back w/ your ghost, just enter the room as before but don't rez until you are standing over the lockbox. Rez, unlock, loot, and run as far out of there as you can. DIE AGAIN, but this time instead of heading inside the complex to rez, just hug the outside wall until you see the rez msg. Rez, and head out =)

You don't have to level up your lockpicking to open the locked box.&nbsp I stealthed up there at level 17, died in the room, rez'd on the lockbox and continued to open it with my lockpicking at 1.

Just did this today. The building is inside the walled area of Ambermill, to the right (South)of the town hall. I had no problem stealthing past the guards... there were no guards stationed right near the chest, just two in the room outside and one on patrol in & out of the room. Timing of the patrol is enough to let you sneak in, pick the lock, get the report, and re-stealth.

I did this off-peak (9 AM PST), and didn't see anyone else around all day, so I'm pretty sure this isn't just lucky spawn timing.

Chest is at 63,65. 2nd floor of the house on the right if you're facing the largest building. This is kind of impossible to do solo without dieing at least once at lvl 18. There are 3 casters on the 2nd floor, all lvl 19, that will see through your stealth. I died at the top of the stairs. Res'd by the chest, picked it, got the docs and died on my way out too. There's really no sneaking by those guys if you're lvl 18 or lower. Lockpicking skill of 58. Chest was yellow. Took one try.

What's so hard to understand?
Enter the Ambermill Keep, and instead of going straight to town hall, you go to that building right to it. It has a layout of an inn, so some people might get confused becuse of it.
There are some patrollers there, so be careful.
Summoner (with Void) and mage on level 0, and three mages on upper floor.
Won't explain tactics, since you all know them already if you read from the start.
Falin said tloc is 63,65, so type "/tloc 63,65" in console and see where little red dot leads you to :)

I did this at 17, and it was pretty easy. I did have to die once, though.

I stealthed into the inn and got caught by the 19/20 Wizards outside of the room with the document. After they killed me, I ran into the room and stood atop the chest, rez, picked the lock, the usual fare. To get out, I ran out of the room and used Sprint. I got away with taking only about 100 damage.

So, you don't need to die more than once doing this. Just a heads up.

Umm... try thinking like a rogue.&nbsp First off, the coords of the house are:

63, 64

Secondly, soo freaking easy.&nbsp Sap the wizard on the left, and walk right over him.&nbsp Stand in the corner, unlock it, pick up the report, walk out while he's still sapped.&nbsp Subtlety makes this cake. :P

K easy easy way to do it without getting spanked once!
Sneak around behind the Inn, jump on the small ledge of the building move around to the Corner at the far back (outside) above you should be the gear for the chest, just click it and open from outside.

make sure you kill the ONE guard who walks around back there.

I had lock picking at level 1 and was still able to open it on the second try. No need to do the Ratchet quest first

Once i got to the ambermill lockbox, i unlocked it about 5 times and nothing was in it. then i had the brilliant idea of logging (which is the best bug fixer for WoW) and when i re-logged unlocked and it was right there. kinda annoying though.

Why wait for Distraction at 22? Popped this one off at 16. Though it did involve a little bit of "making lemonade when life gives you lemons" to manage....

Nearly made it into the room, but the door guards managed to spot me when I went in- so after the death, I ressed directly behind the box, grabbed the thing, then hearthstoned out.

Guts to try + creative thinking = Quest Complete :)

I stealthed myself to the upper floor, then they killed me, (2 lvl 20 and one 19)i ressed after running from the graveyard and then i took the papers.. After that peaceful part, i activated sprint and ran like never before! After some hits and one Minor Healing Potion, i could finally stealth outside the base. All this, and i was lvl 17 atm.. So it wasnt "that" hard? :P

Just FYI you don't need to get your lockpicking skills up. Mine were at level one & I did it. The "Inn" as everyone is calling it is to the right when you walk into the complex.

hokay...so

find the ambermills....

once your there you go up the main path from the road from the sepulcher...

its the building at 63, 65 or if u dont hav coords for some reason its the inn right of the big building wen ur facing it.

still stealthed?

use the camera on the mouse to look around corners and make sure u dont get to close to anyone...

go upstairs and wait for room to clear from the guy that patrols...

you shouldnt hav to die here, i got passed him just on stealth...

then go all the way in the corner of the room and pick the lock (only skill level 1 is required)

stealth on the way out the same way using the camera to look around corners...

and ur home free

I did this at lvl 20. No points in MoD or Dirty Tricks. Made it to the 2nd floor easily. The mage at the top of the stairs to the right didn't see me, and I spammed sap as I walked up to the mage on the left. Opened the chest, got the report, restealthed, sapped the mage by the door again and calmly walked out.

Ok 21 rogue the quest was pretty easy, As you enter the compound go to the building on the right.&nbsp I snuck in to the top floor, the room was empty.&nbsp Picked the lock and snuck out.

Sneaked into the southermost building once inside the wall. Check.

Sneaked up the stairs to the left. Check
Got killed by the 2 mages upstairs. Check
Rezed on top of the lockbox. Check

Picked the lockbox with a skill of 80. Check

Hearthed out. Check

Whalla. All as a 17 rogue with Nothing in Subtlety

Can be solo'd as a 16 or 17, but you are going to die unless you have points in Master of disguise.

Dont worry about the death. gonna cost you a whopping 2s to fix your gear.

After you go into Ambermill.&nbsp Go into the far left side of it and there is a castle this and like 2 houses... go to the house on the left and go upstairs and there will be 3 wizards up there. try to sneak through em but if not try to kill them. and in the corner of the room there is a box that u unlock and that is the quest!

Did it at level 19 pretty easily. Go into the first house on your right inside of the walled area of Ambermill. At that point you just stealth up the stairs and you'll see 3 wizards. These guys raped me when I tried to pass by. At that point I rezzed way in the corner of the room right on top of the lockbox and got no aggro at all.

this quest is actually really easy. first thing is the chest is in a upstairs room, off to the right of the main building in the very back of amberville, on the second floor in the room, the report is gaurded by 3 lvl 17 humans, all you have to do is fight them, die (of course) then run back to your body and rez in the room (the protectors are outside of the room) pick your lock, then either port back to UC or run for your life out

The trick to the quest is to throw a distraction once you are at the 2nd floor and include all 3 mobs in the distract's influence. I did this and walked right past them, picked the lock and did the same on the way out.

Lol, just ran up til the Brewmaster yelled at me, hit sprint and ran to the chest (upstairs in the back room). After the five guys chasing beat me, I rezzed on top of the chest. Picked. hearthed, done.

I guess you need bit of luck while entering the room, because I was able to enter stealthed but not able to exit (@ lvl 21). Mages noticed me but then I just sprinted away and that was it. Easy, though maybe a bit lucky.

A much easier solution is not to enter any buildings at all - instead stealth around them (paying attention to patrols, and in the worst case taking out individual mage dwarves with sap).

Move the pointer around the building walls, (in this case 2nd floor) and the cursor will change when there is a crate on the other side of the wall. Apparentely we thieves are so cool we can grab things through walls, who knew )

I don't know if I was just lucky, but I found this one pretty easy. I just stealthed into the walled area, and went into the right-hand building (making sure that the warrior and warlock type human patrolers were away from the door). I went left and up the stairs, stealthed pas the wizards and into the next room. I stood behind the box, picked and stealthed out. (Box was green at 62, lvl 19)
