This quest is very easy. I completed it with my level 4 mage. I accidently stumbled across an easier way to complete it. As soon as you enter the cave, if you take the path to the right instead of the left, you will eventually come to a cliff. The level 5 guy is right below you, you are standing right above him. Don't bother trying to attack him from the cliff, i tried and every single shot was evaded. But if you jump down, you only have to fight him and 1 other troll. Focus on the level 5 first, and once he dies the other troll is easy to finish. My mage only had 87 health to begin with, i think i had a little under 20 health when i was done. Was very easy, make sure you have full health/mana before and after you do it. And then after just work your way to the exit, killing the trolls 1 by 1. Take the right side out to exit also. Cheers.

This guy is hanging around 31, 80 inside the whelp cave (map: https://classicdb.ch/?npc=808). I was a lvl 5 paladin and didn't even loose a quarter health fighting him.

Ok People, go South west untill u hit the frostmane cave, after ur in go left and follow it untill u get right to the back of the cave, and there it is, :)

This was an enjoyable quest. I agree w/ above comments that the bad guys were spaced far enough apart that you could pick them off one at a time w/o a gang bang. Also, the coords are right on...31,80.&nbsp Right click on the lvl 5 bad dude & he drops the journal like a hot potatoe, once you get the correct quest! Over all, I leveled to 6 w/ my gnome warrior, without sweatin' it. Good luck to my fellow noobs & enjoy!

Anyone else mad that he didn't tell you BEFORE you went into the cave already to kill the Trolls?

Seriously... some guys think you can go back and forth, back and forth for them all day :P

For those without a Coordinate reader or whatnot

1. The cave entrance is at the bottom of the "Coldridge Valley" map. You can see the landmark on the map and it looks like a typical mining cave entrance.

2. When you enter the cave, just take the left trail..

3. Kill all of the trolls you encounter, otherwise you may find yourself running back via ghost form.

Tips:
-The troll next to Grik'nir the Cold, all of the times I've done this quest, pulls Grik'nir when you attack him or vise-versa.. I would suggest blasting Grik'nir with all you have, looting, and try to kill the other troll.

  1. accept quest /way 25,07, 75,78
  2. enter the cave /way 26,73, 79,68
  3. follow the path on the left
  4. kill (NPC #808) for drop Grelin Whitebeard's Journal /way 30,46, 80,14
  5. return quest /way 25,08, 75,73

I didn't see the tip above and took the left path instead.&nbsp

It was really easy with my level 5 rogue - I stealthed my way through, following the icy path down to encounter less trolls.&nbsp It was a simple matter to sneak behind the target and take him out without alerting the rest of his tribe - including his guard. :)

Did this with a level 5 mage alone, didn't take too much damage, but ran out of mana really quick. MAke the quest longer than it could have been.

It is very possible to solo but becvause its such a low level quest chances are thell be several others in the area working on the quest or someone who has it. Just ask the people you are very likely to see nearby and probably 1 of them will join you. I usally start soloing but by the time i get to grik, nir the cold i have at least 2 other people with me. But if i dont i kill him and maybe have to make a short corpse run. not a big deal to solo either.

I have Grik�nir the cold between 31,80 and 30,80. if you don�t have /mntloc 31,80 or 30,80 locked in I cant help you. Please make sure you are in the starter area in Coldridge Valley in the Dun Morogh map. also get http://www.cosmosui.org/
