Eight-Legged Menaces

Kill 15 Pygmy Venom Web Spiders, and then report back to Watcher Dodds in Duskwood.
  •
Pygmy Venom Web Spider slain (15)

Description

Hail, <class>. Perhaps you've seen those spiders that have taken over the western border? The eight-legged menaces are too much for us to handle, and the Commander hasn't enough manpower to spare so far from Darkshire.

I hate to ask this of you, but you seem like you might be able to handle them. I can't promise you anything of great value, but I can reward you if you can help root out the filthy bugs.

Oh, and a word of advice, you'll want to avoid their venom if you can.

This quest Is best done stacked with "Dusky Crab Cakes" (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=93) For greater efficiency.

This quest is found In central Duskwood, If you start in Darkshire and you havn't picked this quest up/compleated it yet, pick up "Dusky Crab Cakes" from Chef Grual In the Darkshire Inn. The mobs in this quest also play a part in "The totem of Infliction(https://classicdb.ch/?quest=101), which starts and ends at Madame Eva In Darkshire.

The spiders can be found around the very north of the very west of Duskwood.

Plenty of them in the north west corner around Sven Yorgen and Lars in their camp. Approx cords are 10,40

These coordinates are correct, you can find the spiders along the border with Westfall, along with other kinds of spiders and wolves. Respawn rate isn't very high, so kill off other beasts to have them spawn quicker. Just run from south to north and back again a few times. Won't take you more than 20 minutes.
Look around before you go after one if your level isn't very high, cause otherwise there'll be 3 spiders and a wolf on top of you in no time.

The Pygmy spiders are all along the riverbank between the bridge to Westfall and the bridge to Red Mtn., but mostly around the bridge to Westfall.

The only difficulty in this quest is actually finding enough mobs, rather than killing them. There isn't a lot of them and they are also scattered along the entire north bay of Duskwood.

Once you find them, it's pretty easy.

I found a lot of the spiders south of the road near the river by westfall.

About 10,66

The exact coords for the NPC,incase you loose him, like I did, are 45.66, south of Darkshire, where the tent is. yuou'll pass him, before you get to the cross road sign.

This quest is a SERIOUS drag if you follow the tips/coordinates that have been posted so far. If you do that you will find at most 1-3 pygmy spiders over a large area, and have a long wait between respawns.

The quest info says that they are in the northwest portion of duskwood, at the shore. Sure, they are, but that place sucks.

I kept following the shore north, and I had almost reached darkshire when I found this place that had 8 of them at once! And there were pygmy spiders everywhere!

The coordinates are 64.15 in Duskwood, it's exactly on the shore. Or another way to describe it would be exactly between the text captions "The Twilight Grove" (center of the map) and "Darkshire", but on the shore at the top of the map.

the cords for where u have to TURN IN THE QUEST are 44.66, in other words around the middle of the map, the is a crossroad, the road splits in 3, well, there is one more road to the south at that point, anyhow, where the roads split, in the middle, those are the right cords.

I entered this zone from Westfall side as a 17 paladin, immediately saw two of these spiders. Soloing them was easy enough, I think they were 18.

It wasn't until I got to the fork in the road that I found out this guard wants more of them killed.

On my way out to Elwynn Forest in the NE section of this zone, I saw two more spiders that were 17-18. So it seems there are lower level spiders at the edge of the zone that still qualify you for finishing the quest. Or at least, you don't need to be 21 to get this and finish it.

I found it efficient to run down the river coast, and do this while doing the quests mentioned above in addition to Wolves at Our Heels ( http://classicdb.ch/?quest=226 )

I found it very strange that the quest lv is 21 when most of the spider is 18 - 19.

Or are there higher lv of the same type spider somewhere else? Coz i only work on the bank of duskwood near westfall

Watcher Dobbs likes to go after Stiches and gets killed so you have to wait for him to respawn.

Avoid this quest. The respawn rate and scarcity of the pygmy venom spiders make too tedious.

Ubber is correct...the respawn rate is terrible...but I found a cool way of doing this. The pygmy spiders are pretty much all right along the river bank (9,62 to 6,37). There are a couple of quests up at Sven's camp (8,33) what you can do is go to the bridge and move along up the river towards the camp killing the spiders along the way. Pick up the quests and head back down. By the time you finish another quest...head back up the river bank again and they will have respawned. That way you complete the quest in stages and don't drive yourself crazy waiting for them to respawn.

Like someone else said, 12,70 is a good place to start. Travel north from there, cross the road, and keep going north until you get to Sven's camp, then turn around and do it again. Stay close to the river and try not to aggro anything in the cemetary, too, btw.

A good idea is to do your wolf quests at the same time, as there are plenty of them around this area, too.

I think all the spiders in the area share their spawn points. So keep killing every spider you encounter to make sure, when you return, a Pygmy spider could have been spawned.

I would also recommend doing this quest in conjunction with the others mentioned above. I was able to pick up the 5 vials of spider venom in no time for the Totem of Infliction quest, most came from other spiders. Did part of this quest with the wolves one solo as lvl 18 warlock, a bit slow but very easy.
