There really isn't anything to find, haha.
When you accept the quest, click on the questgiver, type:

/salute

and that's it!

have the rge trainer targated then type /salute then wait a few seconds & the ? should turn gold means the quest is completed

type /Salute to shenthul

If you fail, as i did x.x, wait about five mins and he will "decloak" again :)

I accepted the quest, but i had to leave for a few minutes so i missed the salute deal.

I abandoned the quest and then I cant find him anymore!

(5 mins is DEFINTIELY NOT CORRECT)

Did this quest last night and its not exactly as you say.

first you have to /salute with no target (to stand in atention)
only after that you can complete the quest by /salute targeting the quest giver

I had to abandon the quest and now I can't get it again, Does anyone know where to go from here?

after he says all he has to say, u simply hit ENTER / AND SPELL OUT SALUTE THEN HIT ENTER AGAIN, HE WILL SALUTE u then getb the yellow ?

yeah, i can't fire my flares anywhere...not anywhere outside the venture co. mines...

i just reached 20 and am stuck on this quest - i did the salute, Shenthul says "well done", and checking in my quest log, it says 'Shattered salute performed.'
However, that is it. no "quest complete" and shenthul still has a grey question mark above his head, and i cant get anything more from him when i click on him again, except "practice!" So - how often do i do this salute to him? i have done it 10 times - is it bugged? any help would be appreciated. thank you

ok - for any of you who have the same problem, i now have a simple solution - logging off does not help, but if you 'abandon' the quest and then retry it, it seems to work, so yes, i would say the quest is slightly bugged:)

after you accept the quest
/salute (without targeting anything at all)
he will then start talking to you in the chat text. once he is done, target him and /salute.

Lmao...the quest is not bugged, go to the barrens near the sludge fen..there is a tower there with a lvl 30 elite...perfome the emote /salute while tartgeting him after you fire the flare twice....then he will ask you to get some items, including stealing (pickpocket) the key...you can get your lockpicking skill to the required lvl of 90 or so for the chest at the top of the tower by practicing on the boxes in the pirate ship near ratchet where you get the lockpicking quest. Just because you can't figure out how to read a quest log and follow directions does not mean that a quest is bugged people!

I didn't see him do the salute to me. So when it was myturn I had no idea what to do. I couldn't see from what he had said what to do either. So I thought it would be best to start over and abandoned the quest.

As soon as I had done that, he faded away and disappeared. I haven't been able to see him or talk to him since. - I've left the area and come back, but it hasn't changed anything.

I remember I had this quest once before (with another rogue I never levelled all the way because I moved to another server).
I too thought the quest was bugged, but somehow guessed the answer to it in the end. - Something about the dwarf being hostile, and I couldn't get into a conversation with him. - I had done some part of the quest at a wrong spot in the line of deeds.

I don't know what to do with this new turn of events.
And I absolutely have no recollection of how I did the salute back then.

Seems odd to me that I would have thought about that back at the time I refer to here. - I think some details must've been changed.

However, I believe it's very common to believe this quest bugged, when in reality it isn't. Ity's simply using some details of a little more complex nature that requires a different way of thinking to be solved, than we're used to and than we therefore expect of a quest in WoW.

The fact that it's different makes it harder to solve it, than the fact that it's more complex and makes a greater demand on intellectual capacity (which in itself isn't such a great demand really).

If anybody can give me the solution as to how you re-gain the quest, I'll be grateful.
It would be a big disappointment to me, if I have to miss this quest because of a few second's distraction.

Hi again!

I have added a little "up-date" to the above text after the situation has changed (and Shenthul isn't "gone" anymore!),...
- It was a matter of being patient for a 24-hr period:

The following day I went once more to see if Shenthul had reappeared, and he had!
I repeated the whole thing and wrote /salute when he had made the salute, and it was accepted.

I then received a quest which is brown and with '(group)' added at the margin.

I'm lvl 21 (and in the latter half of lvl 2o when I received the quest).

I can't see how the many claims of this being an easy quest-line can fit the general player's situation - for as long as "general player" also goes for one who doesn't have rl-friends 6/or high-lvl players who help them.

I concluded I'd have to wait a couple of lvls before I do these quests (I've always had to do most group quests alone. - One good thing, I guess, that has resulted from this: I've become quite an efficient PvE player. Yet, it is PvP that has my interest .. at least in WoW-regie).

And so I think the question I came by to find an answer to has been answered:
Yes, you can start using poison from you reach lvl. 20. But it may take longer, if you have to wait untiol higher lvl to finish the quest-line that precedes the "Poison-using Access".

One thing I particularly am happy to find, are the posts where someone has taken the time to make a post just to add the coords to the discussion! - Strangely enough the coords can now and then be "forgotten" for a dozen posts in line, before they're posted.

I'll do the same thing myself, since I know how big a difference it can make on the benefit you get from the other text-parts in the thread.

I was having problems too, then I abandoned quest (in org) and accepted it again, I did the salute on him, then left the hut and the yellow "?" appeared over his head.

Not bugged am down to kill last two guys in this quest. You just have to do an emote of /salute. Not too hard. Next quests get harder. Reminder get the key from the guy in the bottom first thing cause once you get the touch you will be hard pressed to get it. I got it but took an hour and a half to get the last item.

bugged

okay I just screwed up. I did the quest wrong. Instead of pick pocketing the guy and so now my sealth doesn't work. Should i quit the quest? would that release me from the poison so that I can do it over again?

This Quest is not bugged.

Perform /salute on the rogue trainer to begin the Quest.

When you get to the tower fire your 2 flares and speak to the lvl30(elite), he will give you a quest which involves obtaining items from the tower right beside him.

Runswithbull, if you read the quest properly you'll have realised it says, "steal the key", ie pick his pocket.

Killing the mobs isnt too hard but you will need lockpicking skill of around 90 to open the chest at the top of the tower.

I can't seem to find a way to shoot the flare gun. It keeps telling me that I need a target. Anyone here have the same problem?

It is bugged. I saluted and did not get the next step until I abandoned and restarted.
