Description

In a cave along the southern bank of the lake, a timberling named Oakenscowl is spreading corruption to all the creatures that make Lake Al'Ameth their home.

I dared not get too close, but even from a distance, it is obvious: Oakenscowl is being poisoned by the largest tumor I have ever seen... I would call it gargantuan, even.

<name>, you have already done much to aid my efforts, but I ask of you one more task. Hunt down Oakenscowl and collect the tumor; remove this source of corruption from my home.

Hes inside a cave at 53,75. hes a lv 9 elite guarded by 02 mobs. You can pull both of them without aggro the elite one.
Pull them, kill them get ready, pop ur cooldowns and take the named one down.

I made the first mistake of charging in blindly and getting my butt handed to me, because that one little guard was just too much. Then I read on here what you druids have been doing. But no mention of a warrior being able to do this feat alone. So I did it. ^^

I was level 11 when I did this.

I cleared the outside area first, so I'd have room to kite around. Then, I went to the edge of the cave, and used a throwing weapon at him to pull him towards me. (Warriors, having Throw or Bow or Gun skills are indespensible. ^^)

I bloodraged and beat him senseless with a ton of heroic strikes, and when I saw I was getting low on health with no pots, I hamstringed him, ran around the corner (this is why I cleared out the area) and bandaged myself. I had plenty of time to get some health back and clobber him to death.

Voila. :D

This is actually a chain quest. Have to go to Darnassus first.
Relian Greenspyre gives you the tumor quest, after you do tumors, he then sends you back to Denalan, then you can get Oakenscowl quest.

Oaken is really easy, though if you're 5-7 you should find someone else to do it with.

I as lev 19 priest (just doing the quests for rep)
Pulled it off very easy, here's my tactic.

Wand ( or shield if your shield is down already )
New Shield
Wand him till he dies ( maybe new shield is good )

I think he's soloable at level 10 or 11 for a priest if you use my tactic.

Wasn't as difficult as i thought it would be. Maybe I got lucky once since Oakenscowl didn't follow me and his "guard" out of the cave, I just had to fight with Oakenscowl in the end.

I did this with my 11 druid solo without using bear form. Just follow the lake until you nearly reach the end and the cave should be easily spotted. Just kill all the timberlings outside one by one until you reach the cave. I used wrath on the body guards in the cave and oakenscowl just stood there so I killed the guards one at a time and wrathed him outside, entangled him when he got outside and shot at him like crazy, I had to pop one potion and that was it. And swim back to denalan and thats it.

Ehmm... Not very hard. Just kill the adds, clear the path to the left of the cave and pull him. You can kite him until you get to the sabers, there, do some melee (regen some mana), run a bit back towards the cave and he should be pretty much dead. :)

I killed the lvl 9 elite over 20times now with a 35 pally and the item just wont drop enyone help plz/

I cudent get the quest item with the pally in grp so&nbsp i traied to do it with out a grp with the pally healing me so i killed the mob and it droped ! ( u cant have somone higer then lvl 15 in a grp cas u wont get the drop)

Clear area around of mobs, then concussive him (you shouldn't pull anything in the cave, SS, and arcane until he gets to ya, then wing clip, and hop around arcaning him to death.

Went in lvl 12 Druid, solo... killed all outside, moonfire the guard inside, then 2or 3 wraths at oakenscowl to draw him outside, entangling roots him... rejuvination, more wraths until he comes at you again and then bear form until he dies.... cake!

Made it at Lv 8 Only druids can do it at such a low Lv. Lv8 is the leace cause of entangaling roots.

His guard won't pull with him. For Druid, Starfire him, when he's outside Entangle, Wrath x 3, Starfire, Bearform, no contest. Very difficult to find ppl to group with in Teldrassil these days.

I tried at lvl 11 and almost killed him twice but...oh well. Went back at lvl 14.10 and drew him out with thrown dagger, used my Evasion to avoid hits, then just used my abilities as I liked...Eviscerate/Slice and Dice/Gouge. Play your combo points! Use them and kill him pretty quick. But also, before going in used Elixirs of Defense/Fortitude/etc. so that I would have an extra 27health for one hr, extra 50 on armor for 1hr and health regenerating 2 every 5 sec. Just to be on safe side. Probably could have done just fine at 12 or 13...just play it smart. Have fun...no real goodies to get though...hurrumph!

Common this was verry easy í've met harder challance than this and those where'nt soloable while there stands no group i'm a hunter lv 11 and just 1st going my pet in at the guard then the boss easy the only thing was that my pet was almost dead but even if he was dead i could handle on my own

As a 12th level hunter with a 12th level cat, I found the cave to have 4, 7-9 level Timberling Bark Rippers in front of it, 1 inside with Oakenscowl. As the poster above listed, the cave is very easily found on the west side, south end of the lake.

Had no particular problem with Oakenscowl, he got my cat down to about half life and then perished for the good of the goddess.^^

The cave is on the south side of Lake Al'Ameth towards the west end of the lake. The cave entrance faces north and is easily visable. The timberlings in that area are lvl 8 and 9. Oakenscowl is lvl 9. I took my lvl 10 druid there and found 1 timberling in front of the cave, 1 just inside, and from the outside I could see Oakenscowl alongside another lvl 9 timberling. I easily took out the one outside and the one just inside but now I have Oakenscowl and his cohort so close together I couldn't split them apart. I shot a wrath spell at the cohort and ran outside the cave. Lo and behold he came out alone and I killed him. I did the same with Oakenscowl and as soon as he came out I rooted him but he broke it and took me out easily. Next time I'll bring a friend. Hope that helps.

The quest gave me 975 exp and was somewhat difficult for a rogue and hunter at level 9 took me down to 20 hps. The cave isn't very large, you should see Oakenscowl from the outside. Not really worth the reward, IMO. At least the quest doesn't involve a lot of traveling.

just did it as lvl 11 warrior. It was pretty easy. I cleared outside, then pulled one of the adds. then I atacked the other add, killed him,ran out untill mr. oak stoppepd following. Then returned and killed him.

Easy as a level 11 druid, Could have done it at 9/10 with similar ease. Simply clear the area around the entrance to the cave at 53,74. Then moonfire to get him outside, then entangle roots, wrath. repeat until he's dead. If you find yourself running out of mana just root him and don't bother to wrath unless you have enough.

oakenscowl took me a while to find. he is in the cave south of lake al'ameth. the cave is not big at all. he is in the cave with 2 others. he is pretty easy to kill

Just finished it. Teamed with Nuaden on Eonar server, PvE. He's a level 9 n.e. hunter, and my toon is Sylvana, level 10 n.e. hunter. Had no problem taking out guards and then Oakenscowl. Neither of us went below 2/3 health. We Alternated melee and range. One of us did melee until range dps of other aggro'ed guards and then Oakenscowl , then other toon started range dps. Worked great! Reward sucked! Blizz really needs to improve those ....a lot.

Me and a lvl 9 Druid did this Easy (I was lvl 10 warrior) we were searching for along time looking for the cave. then she falls off a cliff and lands Right at the entrance LOL. just pull adds, kill them and if Oakenscowl comes out with friends run till they stop following come back and try again
