Vessel of Dragon's Blood (3)
Provided Item:
Thaumaturgy Vessel Lockbox

Description

You have been most helpful to me, <name>. I would like to reward you with the very recipe for the brew I gave you earlier, but I must ask of you a favor that is quite dangerous.

This lockbox contains three empty thaumaturgy vessels; they are imbued with an attunement aura that will drain the blood of a scorched guardian dragon. Using one on the beast will anger it greatly, so be careful. Once you have all three filled, bring them to me.

Do this, and the recipe will be yours.

If youre a Druid you can hibernate the dragons, then start channeling, then just run away, they will stay asleep. Very easy =) Didn't lose a single HP.

When I read some of the comments here, I thought I was going to have trouble as a mage (level 46).&nbsp A mage can sheep (polymorph) beasts and humanoids, but that ability doesn't affect dragonkin.&nbsp With no ability to immobilize and incapacitate, I thought I was going to die miserably.&nbsp In fact, on my first attempt, I came close.&nbsp However, here's a tip:

Activate your Fire Ward and Mana Shield spells, run in tap the dragon for blood, Frost Nova to freeze him in place, and beat feet for safety.&nbsp I did this on my last vial collection, and didn't take a single hit of damage.

Of course, it helps if you've cleared a place nearby that you can run to without finding one of the Scalding Whelps.&nbsp Deal with them with the Fire Ward and hit them with frost spells (Frostbolt).&nbsp They don't like cold, and have very little resistance against frost damage.

With a bit of care, and a timely application of the Fire Ward shield, you should have no problems with this quest as a mage.

The objectives here list Ghak Healtouch, who is the Alliance questgiver for this quest. Aside from that difference, the quest is the same for both sides.

Though this is an elite quest, it can easily be soloed.

First, you have to have done the Badlands Reagent I and the Uldaman Reagent quests. Second, this appears to be a quest for Artisan Alchemists only. Now maybe it was a bug, but I came by this questgiver 3-4 times from my mid-late 40s and at alchemy skill levels ranging from 170-210, but the first time the quest was available was after I'd achieved Artisan status and skilled up to 230. So my guess is that you either have to be at or above 225 or have gotten Artisan training.

Once you get the quest, go to the Badlands and head towards Lethlor Ravine in the East end of the zone where the dragon whelps hang out. Keep heading east as the path winds south and then north till you hit large open area populated by several Scorched Guardian Dragons.

Open up the box and take out the Thaumaturgy Vessels. (They bind on pick-up.) To drain the blood, simply target one of the dragons and use one of the vessels on it. (You have to do this with a live dragon.) You can drain from range (`20-25 feet), which is a good thing because the dragon will attack as soon as you start. The draining procedure is like a channeled spell, so you can't do anything else until the draining stops. If you drain at range, the dragon will probably only get 2-3 hits on you before you can respond.

The dragons are all elites, so they're tough to solo if you're near their level (44-45 mostly). However, the quest doesn't require you to kill them, so simplest thing is to cut and run as soon as you finish draining them. A guardian won't follow you very far beyond that big open area. Just be careful that you don't run into a couple of dragon whelps back in the ravine. (I avoided this by running up the rock wall just to the E of the southern entrance to the guardians' area the whelps don't hang out here, but you can run far enough along the wall to lose the guardian.)

After you complete the quest, you will be taught how to make the Elixer of Restoration.

The most efficient way and less costly than the Blind one for a rogue is to stealth ----->cheap shot (4sec stunlock) since the channelling is also 4 secs U have enough time 2 fill the vial if U place the vials as a shortcut at your keybinding. Then gouge and run away untill u get off combat! Simple :D

This quest is so easy as a Druid its not funny.
Simply Hibernate any dragon, drain his blood, and run out of combat before it even wakes up to chase you.

this quest is a alchy recipe quest
once u do the quest he teaches you how to make the "resirative potion" which really rocks for end game instances i never botherd to get it till i got told by a guildy that it was out here so i didnt get till i hit 60 but it is really easy to do if ur not a level 50 plus u might need a seoncd person but as long as u dont attack the dragon while channeling u get the blood.
the mats for potion is 1 elemental earth 1 goldthorn and a crystal vial so start saving ur mats its well worth making these as level 60s will buy these for there end game instances.

the dragons can be found as said above at 80:50 there is approx 5-10 dragons so take ur pic

Keep in mind, if you finish the quest and get the recipe then unlearn alchemy this recipe will be lost forever to you. You won't be able to redo the quest or get the trainer to teach you it.

I sent a ticket to a GM and he escalated it... and it's been 2 days since I got a response from that ticket sitting nice and comfy up in the corner >.<

others said taking damage would fail the transfer so being a warlock I sent my pet in to tank but soon as I used the vial on em it came after me and I took damage before finished channeling so maybe its ok to take damage now.

I managed to complete this quest solo without actually staying to fight any of the elite dragons. As a paladin, I cleared the path leading to the dragons, used the vessel to get the blood (its instant, not channel), then bubbled and ran like hell. It took about 5 minutes to get all 3 with very little damage.

I have used another method, but i'm level 51.

I walk first to dragon, recharge myself first with mana shield and fire wand. Then blink quickly forward to dragon and active vessel (i have placed vessel already in buttonbar)
No damage for me, but a bit mana drain.
Then after channeling, i use frost nova to freeze dragon in place and run away. Waiting for vial timer, and try again same method.

Done in 3 minutes. Too easy.
You can walk to same dragon again for more blood.

The horde side have this same quest, and the tip from them is -- "i suggest you abandon quest n sign up again to get more then 3 vials cuz sucking blood is a channel spell and it will lose vial if u get hit - so just get some extra and get the blood from dragon - this quest cant be soloed too - need someone to tank while u channel"

The elete dragons are the dragonkin type so you can use your hybernate spell on them. And the blood drain doesn't do damage so it won't break the sleep effect.

I did it as a 45 Tauren druid and didn't take even one hit from the eletes.
