Bride of the Embalmer

Find Eliza's grave. Retrieve the Embalmer's Heart from her, then return to Ello Ebonlocke.
The Embalmer's Heart

Description

The Embalmer is a name told in one of our children's stories. He was a kindly alchemist, driven mad by the death of his wife, Eliza. To restore her, he used dark magic to place his own heart within the bosom of his dead spouse.

This revived Eliza...but it cursed her with a hunger for human flesh, forcing the Embalmer to keep her buried.

His heart is his power. Find his wife's grave, retrieve his heart, and bring it to me while it still beats. Do this and his power will be broken.

ok ive been reading most of these comments and alot of the same questions are being asked over or going unanswered so heres how it goes.&nbsp After delivering the letter, you take it to the mayor, and then to sirra von indi, just outside the mayors big room.&nbsp Sirra will take it then give u a quest to get it back from him after a minute.&nbsp Bring the translated note back to the mayor and he gives you the bride of the embalmer quest.

CTMOD rates this quest as lvl 30+(lvl 30 monster with elite status)so you need a solid team to fight her or you need to be around lvl 30 and capable of handling her alone.&nbsp Go back to Abercrombie's shack and go around behind it.&nbsp youll find the burial site of his wife there and you right click it to summon her.&nbsp I am told she has up to 3 guards so be prepared in case that happens.

After you kill her loot the heart and takeit back to the mayor, i think that is the end of the chain for good, but its been a while since ive done this and i havent killed the bride yet on my new warrior.&nbsp Also many people have said they get to keep the letter after the quest is over.&nbsp To my knowledge the letter is not important for anything and the rumors that you can use it to spawn stitches are false.&nbsp You can keep it with you or bank it if you really want but id probably just trash it since its not used for anything but this quest.

edit: i just did this on my hunter at lvl 30.&nbsp Simply open the grave then run back a short distance so u have room to fight.&nbsp Let your pet tank her.&nbsp after 5-10 seconds she summoned 3 guards to fight but if you start putting all your ranged attacks into play except of course multi shot(DO NOT USE MULTISHOT) you can kill her before she takes out your pet.&nbsp I did end up dieing because she died at the same time as my pet and the guards killed me but i came back and ressed at my body quick enough to loot her before her body dissappeared.

I soloed this as a 28 shadow priest by using the terrain -- specifically, by jumping from the nearby cart onto Abercrombie's shack as soon as I opened the grave. Once you're on that building, the adds will completely ignore you, and it's just a shooting match with Eliza. After she was dead, the adds despawned within about ten seconds.

As a level 33 shadow priest, I believe it's possible to solo Eliza. I (as a level 33 shadow priest) was able to bring her to around 80% health, before a random Shaman jumped in to help and finish her off. But, to be honest, I did not need any help.

Here is the synopsis of the strategy I used:
1) Run a little distance from grave after opening.
2) Shackle Eliza.
3) Mind blast Eliza.
4) repeat step 2

Here is the strategy in a little more detail.

As many people have already mentioned above, Eliza does two things: She will cast frostbolt / frostnova and during the encounter she will summon three undead guardians, whom I believe are level 29.

Because she will try to frostbolt you when you are out of melee range, the basic idea of my strategy was to cast a direct damage spell on her, then immediately shackle her before she can finish casting frostbolt.

The shackling has the affects of interrupting her spell casting, allowing you some time to regenerate mana, and preventing her from summoning her undead friends.

That's basically all there is to it. When she's shackled, she can't summon her friends. When she's casting frostbolt, she can't summon her friends.

A few things to note. You want to cast a quick damage spell, like mind blast or smite. If you mind flay, you will probably not have the time to shackle her before her frostbolt finishes casting. You also don't want to use a spell like Shadow Word: Pain, for obvious reasons (You are using shackle!). You also probably want to wait for the "Five Second Rule" http://www.wowwiki.com/Formulas:Mana_Regen#Five_Second_Rule to fade so that you regenerate some mana. Else, if you decide to spam shackle / mind blast, you run the risk of running out of mana.

Good luck.

Her grave is located just behind Abercrombie's shack, Northeast corner of the Raven Hill Cemetary. Once Elisa spawns, the fight is on. She acts much like a mage, casting AE frost (root) and roughly at each quarter of her life you take, a guardian spawns. Even after she dies, the guardians will remain, so be sure to have everyone needing the quest loot immediately unless you wish to do the quest again.

okay this sounds stupid but my friend did it..

when you kill eliza and the guards, DON'T jokingly stand IN her grave. it will trap you and prevent you from moving, then you'd have to kill her all over again

Standing on the roof = WIN!

I followed the previous posts suggestion, and went in solo as a lv30 Hunter just to see how I'd fare before asking for help. Wouldn't you know, forgot to drop freeze trap before I clicked the grave. I hauled to the wagon, and leaped up onto the shack and started to unload on Eliza. She already had guards inplace by the time I turned around. But, jumping the gun, still costed me my life.

Funny part was, when I respawned, she was still there, alone. So I took my time to fully med, got on top of the roof, and sent in the pet to go to work. She dies, pet Dies, Guards just stand there stupid and despawn. I go collect my just dues, and jet.

Reason why the roof works: She's a mage, will only fight you long ranged (sorry to all you Melee types). The other, more important part, is that the adds will NOT even bother you if you don't bother them. But set one foot on the ground while they are there.....

Also, dunno if it was a glitch, but my first attempt before I died, when my pet went down, I was trying to keep it alive with Mend Pet. So I wasn't targeting her right after pet died. She didn't even bother attacking me, just like her guard. But I had to go poke her with a stick, err, bullet. Then she re-commenced her barrage. Didn't feel like testing that theory, since I got what I came for.

Out.

The bride is located at 28.30, right behind Abercrombie's shack. It's a tough solo, but you can DPS the embalmer and let the adds kill you, and loot after you rez (the adds will be gone).

Did my best to Keep Eliza silenced/stunned to minimize spell damage. When her 3 guards spawned I hit Evasion and kept whittling away at Eliza's health. When she died, I hit Vanish and the 3 guards despawned almost immediately.

Not too tough. 2 level 28's can probably beat this if one of them is a mage.

Eliza's corpse doesn't stay around for long (around 30secs i think) so after u kill her.
Loot her straight away for the heart, cos if you die by the time u get back the corpse will have dissappeared.

Great Quest but to be Lvl-30 and complete is going to be a challenge without help. Eliza spawns and after a few hits she summons 3 guards to help her. I've Killed Eliza and NOT all of the guards. I drew them off and went in to get the drop. could not loot until all guards were dead too. Had 2 other help and it made it seem simple.

Ok this time I had a little help of a friend. I started with Eliza and when the adds appeared they didn't go after me but they ran towards the house. So I managed to kill Eliza, and then quickly take the jeart cause they came back. They killed me and then they went back to the house. After resurrecting I noticed that there was a 23lvl paladin there. But, I did it!

Normally against battle-looting, but last night I helped a guy out with this quest, and it's a little bit of a pain.&nbsp (Good XP, though, I'm told.)&nbsp We managed to take Eliza down, but contrary to a couple earlier comments in this thread, her guards did not vanish once she was dead.&nbsp By the time we had taken out her three little adds, her corpse had despawned.&nbsp Argh.&nbsp Side dish of futility, anyone?

Tried again and looted the very moment she dropped, then took out adds.&nbsp That worked.&nbsp :)

If previous posters mentioned this and I missed it, my apologies.

Eliza is a 31 ELITE, and not one of these squishy caster ones with no armor. Her frostbolts are nasty but she also has a LOT of hit points.

Tried the roof trick but I never could get up. No more ice cream for me!

I tried to kill her 3 guards first (unlike some of the other approaches above) because my 32 Druid couldn't tank all four of them simultaneously. After you've aggroed her and either died or run (the former, in my case), she will hang around, with the guards stealthed or just sitting there.

You can pull the guards and kill them easily, one by one. But then she just calls another 3 when you attack her again. Thinking there might be a limit, I went through this 4 times (12 guards, and they neither dropped anything nor gave any XP. Hmmph. Cheap schmucks.)and she was still calling guards, so she must have an unlimited supply.

Bring a friend or just take a pass. The rewards are not worth dying for and they might not even cover your repair bill.

Don't forget - much more clever and interesting quests await you later on. Tougher ones too. I had just about had my fill of wandering around in crypts and ducking that putz Mor'ladim when I came to this. Fuhgeddaboudit! Off to STV. : )

tagged 31 elite with SW:P, MB and wand, and one holy fire.&nbsp kept up my PW:S (rank 4) and inner fire (rank 2).&nbsp used holy prot pot before and one healing pot during, and one desperate prayer.&nbsp she healed herself once.

serious, this was the easiest elite ever...no joke. i had a 28 pali with me, i'm a level 30 hunter. I put a freeze trap over the grave, thus instantly freezing eliza. Frozen=no guards. I chose a concusion shot to break the icen after like 3 sec, but sadly it didn't stun here, than a serpent sting. Just pepered away, with no special shots, just autoshot going on and we win, with not an once of health lost on me. pretty fast
Interesting though was that even in her unfrozen state she didn't summon any guards

I dug the grave up, as soon as she came up, I sent in my Voidwalker while I cast these spells in this order: 1)Lvl 3 Corruption, 2) Lvl 3 Curse of Agony, 3)Lvl 4 Immolate, 4)Lvl 5 Shadowbolt. As I cast my final spell, the other beasts fled towards me, however I continued to focus on Eliza by hitting her using my Combustible Wand. My Voidwalker got waxed as did I, but not before killing Eliza. I had already cast a Soulstone, so as soon as the other beasts fled back to the grave, I used it to resurrect. I summoned my Voidwalker again, dug up the grave, while the beasts attacked my Voidwalker, I looted Eliza's corpse. Got the heart and hauled butt outta Dodge!

I wouldn't recommend a warlock doing this quest by yourself unless you're high 20's (28/29) or in the 30's.

Soloed this as a 33 Mage through an interesting bug. I activated her, died (although if i had planned this next part i could have just run away to de-agro), then went back and rezzed. After awhile her guards faded out, leaving Eliza alone. I lay into her with everything i had, and second time through she didnt summon her guards until she was around 30% health left. Not sure why. Did this twice, happened the same both times. Maybe her 'guard call' ability is on a cooldown or something. Anyway, effective tactic.

I grouped with a Level 29 Warrior and a Level 27 or 28 Shaman to do this (me a Level 27 Holy/Retr Paladin), with me as the primary healer (which as a soloing Paladin was new for me), the shaman as secondary healer and backup dps (Magma totem, etc). The first time we wiped because the Shaman player got disconnected right as the fight started ("I thought he was kinda quiet..."), so once my mana ran out the warrior went down and the mobs were on me like nobody's business. Nice thing about fighting in a graveyard, you don't have to run far to get to your corpse. Second time went right like clockwork but I didn't get the heart when the warrior looted the bodies (shaman did though), so we did it again and they let me loot the heart personally. Then I went back to town and finished the quest. Fun ending to an intersting if tedious (lots of running back to Darkshire fetching this or that) quest line.

It was a very close call, but I managed to solo it as a lvl 32 druid, after three tries, and only my own buffs.

I first tried to kill the guards, which I did, but they respawned almost instantly, so I didn't stand a chance, and died.
So at my next attempt I focused only on Eliza. I began by casting faery fire and multiple starfire. I then classically shapeshifted into bear, going back to caster form in order to heal me when needed. I killed her, grabbed the heart and began fleeing but got killed after just a few steps.

In the end, it's definitely not easy and I couldn't have done without good +sta/+int gear, but it's still doable.

Killed quite easily by a 32 mage. Seeing how she's a caster, she has low hp and can be burned down quite easily. As for when the adds spawn when she hits 50%ish, just chain AE until she dies. Kerpow.
