Troll Tribal Necklace (5)

Description

Get this straight, <race> - we are NOT part of the Alliance! The Wildhammers are independent, relying on deeds and actions to prove one's worth, rather than the blather of those who use jibber-jabber to bolster their do-nothing attitudes!

If you're looking for friends here, then prove your worth to us first! The foul trolls that choke the hillsides of the Hinterlands sometimes carry tribal necklaces. Bring five of them to me, and we'll mark it down as a step in the right direction for you.

I'm revered with the wildhammer Clan, I got nothing so far, it's a real dissapointment, I don't know if the comments about the gryphons helping you have anything accurate about them because it hasnt happened to me, basically it seems to be a waist of time getting your rep up with particular group unless you consider spending a few thousand hours for a slightly reduced flight a good thing.

This quest used to be repeatable for WIldhammer reputation, but since the Wildhammer faction has been removed it can now only be done once, and there is no reputation reward.

This quest is no longer repeatable as of Burning Crusade Release.

Once you get 5 necklaces, no more will drop.

Very simple although annoying grind, quick 10-15 minutes did as a 47 hunter but im sure anything around 40 could pull this simply.

coordinates I pulled at were 31, 58 (hiri'watha)

For those keeping track, each troll killed off gets +5 Wildhammer, each set of 5 troll necklaces gains another +25 Wildhammer reputation.

Now, if only reputation would actually buy anything.

I just completed this easily with my 43 level rogue.&nbsp The first time you get the 5 necklaces, you get 3900 XP and the 100 Rep. points.&nbsp Each subsequent time you complete it you get ONLY 390 XP and 25 rep points.&nbsp So in otherwords its worth doing the first time cause its pretty easy but a waste of time doing it anymore.&nbsp That being said, if your picking them up while doing other quests then its worth having that one slot set aside in your quest item bag.&nbsp

Jumped on one of my 70's today and tried turning in the quest no go.&nbsp Had 20 sitting in the bank, then I looked for Wildhammer Clan Rep to see how high mine was and not there anymore.&nbsp Then I can here to see why.&nbsp So much for a decent quest.

All nice and all written above, but the really reputation points awarded for killing the trolls in The Hinterlands is 1 (ONE, UNO, N) point each!

Delivering the necklaces will let you gain a crappy 2/3 reputation point each time you turn the quest in.

All and all: not worth your time! Count it out, killing about 2500 trolls for getting friendly and then... Pfff!

At level 60 the quest and the mobs are gray so you only get 1 rep per kill and 2 or 3 rep per turn-in for an average of 1/2 a rep per necklace. However, if you go to Jintha'Alor (63,73 The Hinterlands) you will find some level 48 and 49 elites. Mobs level 48 and up are green to you at 60 so they give 5 rep each instead of 1. Also, there is a rare spawn near The Altar of Zul that gives 25 rep when killed. Once you get to revered you can't get any rep from kills.

After 1.10, I turned in necklaces for rep. Only got +20 rep after initial turn in, then 5 rep per 5 necklaces afterwards. I'm level 54. From the above comments it seems that this was adjusted down (possibly for the expansion?). Can anyone confirm?

Edit: From the above post by a 54 pally, seems like this is the amount of rep we can expect to get for each turn in.

For those interested I noticed that killing Witherbark trolls in the Arathi Highland awarded 5 points towards the wildhammer clan for each kill. Very slow I suppose, and I was at lvl 35 so I don't know what a 60 would get... but obviously they could kill them much faster.

Very SE side of Arathi Highlands.

Once you turn in a LOT of neclaces your faction rating with windhammer will be at honorary. There is an NPC vendor in Stormwind that has the windhammer faction. You can then talk to her but, as of yet I have found nothing there that she actually sells.
