Miners' Gear (4)

Description

The Silver Stream Mine to the east ran dry long ago. It was converted by the Miners' League into a storage depot, but now Kobolds have moved in, putting their filthy paws on good, Dwarven tools!

We'll root out those vermin soon enough, but the League wants someone to get their gear out of the mine before we warriors tromp in there and break things. It'll be a tough delve - you might want cohorts at your side.

The gear is stored in Miners' League Crates throughout the mine. Good luck.

Quest pieces are in stacks of boxes randomly in the caves east of the North Guard tower.&nbsp Levels of mobs are around 10-14 with an occasional 15 in the mix.&nbsp There is one named monster in the back section of the caves that was level 14 when he spawned.&nbsp

Three battered chests pop in the cave (one up in the middle and two in the last room) and one chest pops in the camp outside the entrance to the cave.&nbsp

Green drops are good.&nbsp These mobs have fire shields cast on them that does damage to you when you hit them.&nbsp Also, watch out for adds, the spawn rate is quick.&nbsp Generally a couple paladins with a mage can own this "dungeon" fairly well if you stick together.&nbsp

The quest drops are really easy to get if you can survive cause there are a lot of them.

You can find the miner's gear in the mine found at 35,19.&nbsp Mountaineer Stormpike can be found at 24,18 in the Algaz Station.

This quest was not as hard as I was anticipating.&nbsp A good solo quest.

I did this in conjuction with my level 15 mage quest ("Gathering Materials") it also required the same items, but 6 of them. In the end, after collecting 6 crates, I accomplished two quests in one. I turned in the Mage quest first because I wasn't sure if this would work, and my mage quest was more important - after I turned it in, I still had 4 crates in my bag - then I headed back to turn in this quest.

BTW, I found this to be an easy solo task with my lvl 15 mage.

This is not an easy quest. However it is doable solo, but you will need to sneak by the outside group by the campfire. You can approach the cave from the South and get by patrols outside. They are well spaced so even if you have to kill one or two approaching the cave it won't be hard as they around level 12. Once inside the cave scope your target out before taking him as cave tunnels to the right or left of your target may get you an extra enemy or two and they are higher levels sometimes. They also respawn fairly quickly so watch behind yourself in case you have rested awhile. I was using my level 15 Mage "Pempmiride" so I used sheep and Frost Nova when I got into trouble. The stacked boxes are not hard to find. They will show as the standard gear when you mouse over them. If you are a Mage, before you start after the tools, you want to get the "Gathering Materials" quest in Stormwind at the portal and training area for Mages as you can kill two birds with one stone and get the tools and the rift gems together in the boxes.

This quest can be done at the same time as "Rat Catching".

http://classicdb.ch/?quest=416

This quest takes a lot longer due to drop rate though.

Do you not like new respawns? Then don't loot the corpses. Fight first for the quest items. If you're ready, you may loot now on back way all corpses.

The respawns are more delayed because there is loot timer on corpses before it gone.

The mine is crowded, the rats run (through twisty passages with little line of sight available), and they respawn quickly. This was difficult -- but not impossible -- with a level 12 priest. If you're finding it difficult, you can wait for the boxes close to the entrance to respawn rather than delving deeper into the mine.

Listen up. On the map, its called Silver Stream Mine. Its not very far from the quest giver. Walk 20-50 steps east and you will see a little encampment of the dumb rats. Once you made it over there, go in the tunnel and you will see four boxes. Just right click on em and volia you have your mining equipment. I was priest at lv 11 but i had help getting through it. I was able to do another quest that allowed me to complete two in one. I got the full XP 1350.

I just completed this quest with a lvl 13 rogue solo. I did not realize this was a lvl 15 quest. Yes I got killed 3 times but each time I got killed the box respawned. So aside from dieing a few times it was not so bad

Just need some help. Where is Mountaineer Stormpike located. I want to finish the quest Filthy Paws, but I can't find him, so I'm really sure how to start this quest.

I appreciate everyone being able to solo or group it at different levels and such but I think most would want to know "where is it" first...so could someone put up coordinates for the entrance to the cave please?

Thank you

I done this with a level 14 mage, ran into a level 19 rogue at the entrance so we teamed up and wiped it out in just a few minutes

Soloed it as a dwarven hunter at level 12. died 2 times. Once when I went in and a patroil suddenly popped out and aggroed a third and once more when I was done and walking out. A kobold right outside the cave mouth pulled those round the camp fire. (didnt' see the tin though, have to go and find that next time)ps leveled right after I got my corpse the second time

This quest was fustrating for me, no matter when I went there, either solo or in a party, there was always another group or 2 grabbing all the boxes while I or my party were killing the mobs.

I think it ended up taking me 3 seperate trips to complete such a simple quest because of everyone else.
Another thing, MINING, fellow miners, how about some curticy leaving the mine alone if you see someone else standing on the mine with mobs attacking me so I cannot mine. At the least Ask the person if there a miner, and if they are ask to roll for the right to mine that vein.

there is always a tin vein just outside of the encampment with one little kobold guard, so for any low level miners in the area, you struck gold (or tin)
