Description

<name>, I'm a scientist, but also a treasure hunter at heart!

Long ago, when trolls used to occupy this land, they created large amounts of ornaments modeled after Gahz'rilla, a hydra they worshipped as a deity. These ornaments are carved out of an element that I call "Gahz'ridian," after the hydra god.

I did find some myself, but I'd like to have some more to study -- maybe you can find some?

I even invented a detector that makes finding the Gahz'ridian a snap! Just put it on, and the search begins!

When you equip the helmet provided by this quest, the Gahz'ridian will show up on your minimap. Loot the little sandpiles and collect the ornaments.

The greatest concentration of piles is found in the Eastmoon Ruins (beware of Ogres).

The ornaments seem to appear everywhere in Tanaris except near the beach areas around Lost Rigger Cove and Steamwheedle Port. They're most plentiful, like others have already posted, in the ruins occupied by the ogres in south central Tanaris.

You can find the items you need by just hanging out around the quest giver's area, but it will be very slow going waiting on respawns.

Instead, head south to the east ogre compound. While you slaughter ogres for another quest (link not handy at the moment), you'll find the little mounds you loot these from all over the place - they respawn in the time it takes to go from pile to pile elsewhere in the compound.

While hitting the eastmoon/southmoon ruins for Gahz'ridian, you can save a bit of time by killing ogres for this quest: https://classicdb.ch/?quest=5863 (The Dunemaul compound), on many servers the compound is camped. While not all ogre's are the type you need, you do get brutes and enforces spawning between the locks and regular's.

DONT run all over Tanaris, go south to Eastmoon Ruins (coords above) and finish quest in 10-15 min :))

I found some ruins that had TONNES of these and was able to finish this quest in about 10mins, not bad for 2.5g for the staff.

The ruins are the Eastmoon Ruins...

The helmet doesn't interfere with any other tracking you may have active. My hunter was able to keep beast or humanoid tracking up at the same while using the helmet.

You get the quest at 52,46. Than just visit ruins at 47,65 and/or 40,37. There are 15+ items there alone. With some patience you don't even need to kill any lvl 46 mobs around.

Go south to the ruins. Ogres are a mix of level 47-48 warlocks, mages, and melee characters. Easy to pull one at a time. Lot's of mounds in the ruins.

If you don't need the reward, get the staff (2.5g at the vendor)

Exp: 4400 pts

I did this easily at level 45.

There are about 30 Ornaments alone in South Moon Ruins. Check your map- Southern Central Tanaris all most to mountains.

without cords, Just walk/mount about 3 cm south of the quest giver are, (On map of course.. P) and about 1.5 cm to the west. There you are P

Seriously - to get this quest done quickly, go to Eastmoon Ruins (46,66).&nbsp The ornaments are there by the dozens!

The ornaments respawn every 2-4 minutes. Many can be found at 40, 73. The quest goes well with The dunemaul compound since there will be some ogres there.

&nbsp &nbsp I don't know about all these people saying that theres tons of this stuff at one ruin, i had to goto both ruins to complete it. I got 15 at the first ruin, then on the way, picked up 2 more, then the rst were at the southernmost ruin. The two ruins are on your map, south of quest giver or at the coords above.
&nbsp Also, 3 words, stupid ass ogres. Its amazing how you can be 10 feet away from their face and they will refuse to see you.

Ps. The circle he wants you to get in ratchet, is to the left, coming into town from the dock, in a chest in front of the house, with a <Workshop Assistant> lady goblin in it.

As long as you can handle a few ogres levelled in the high 40s, the Eastmoon and Southmoon Ruins are LOADED with these things and, the respawn of them is fairly fast.
I wasn't able to use either of the quest rewards but I trade vendored the staff for a little under 2 gold.
This one is worth the reward.

don't delete the helemet- you need to hand that back in too- if u delete helemet u have to do the entire quest again as when u abandon it takes the ornaments too- so keep the helmet to hand in also

I found loads of these at 47.66 (cosmos) the Earthmoon Ruins I think it is called. It is level 46-48 Dunemaul Brutes/Warlocks/Mages/Ogres in the area, but they are well spaced out.

I completed this at 46, and received 4400 xp and an increase in reputation with gadgetzan.

The best location for the artifacts is are the ogre ruins that many others have already mentioned. The artifacts have a high respawn rate and are concentrated in an area guarded by 45-48 ogre, brutes, mages and warlocks. The ogres do no patrol or move, and so are easy to run around.

you may think this will take ages to do but if you can find the eastmoon ruins, co-ordinates (47,65), then they are all over the place, reali easy to do there. Only a few ogres there, but nothing to worry about =)

I picked this up late at lvl 55.
Go to Eastmoon Ruins - about 46,66 - and the things are all over the place. At 55 I didn't aggro a single Dunemaul.

Staff of Lore is worth 2g - 55s - 4c and Surveyor's Tunic is worth 1g - 2s - 38c.

Confirmed. I went stright to Eastmoon Ruins and got all the ornaments I needed - and more kept popping. They respawn fairly quickly here, too, as do the ogres. But the silver is always welcome.

Very easy quest, in Eastmoon Ruins i had to fight only 3-4 ogres to get all the items.

2.5g as reward are a real gift for this easy quest
