Bring 2 Undamaged Hippogryph Feathers to Sanath Lim-yo in Azshara if you wish to speak to his master.

Description

Ah, a young <race> come to speak to Sanath. What a wonderful day! I am so honored to have you grace me with your presence. Thank you!

Please... do not be so arrogant to assume my sarcasm was a compliment. Let us get one thing straight: I don't like you. But this little conversation doesn't have anything to do with us--it has to do with my master.

Bring me a couple hippogryph feathers for my arrows and I'll give you leave to see him. He's asked that I send adventurers to him if they proved worthy enough.

It is no longer neccessary to collect feathers in exchange for transportation. Simply talk to the servent (Found east of the Horde camp) and he will send you up into the mountains. From there travel along the path and you will be able to complete the delivery.

When you click on him now, he complains about how once upon a time he was allowed to demand whatever he wanted of visitors, now he's required to just teleport them at once.&nbsp :-)

For Horde the reason to be teleported up is to complete "Delivery to Archmage Xylem" which is a followup to "Steaing Knowledge" :

Upon completion (which took 26 kills to get the 2 feathers for), he teleports you up to the nearby highlands. There's a tower with some NPCs inside and one outside, but none of them talk to me. What was the point of this?

[mostly stated above, just thought some folks might want a little more detail]

As of July, 18 2005 v1.6- Alliance:
You can Find the Thunderhead Hyppogryphs just south of 20,52. The drop rate on feathers, for me, was 1 for 1.

After completing "A Meeting with the Master" you are teleported not to the tower but to a hilltop summoning circle North-West of Sanath Lim-yo (28,50).

The summoning circle and Nyrill are located at 26,46. Nyrill will teleport you back to Sanath Lim-yo, upon your request.

If you follow a path NW, up a mountain, to the tower (29,40). There are still no alliance quests. Again, with a 50th level Night Elf, Coral Moonglade, located outside the tower-east.

After you give him the 2 feathers he will teleport you to (26,46) which is up in the mountains. After you have been portaled and take the path up further you will come to a Tower. At the top of the tower is Archmage Xylem, Joy Ar'nareth, and Rayan Dawnrisen.

After completing the quest 'Stealing Knowledge' by Jediga (22,52), she will send you on 4 delivery quests. One of them is for Xylem on top of the tower.

Might be for the Horde only.

to make use out of this quest, you need to have completed the quest, "stealing knowledge."

when you complete that quest, you deliver one of the tablets to archmage sylem.

I have ten of these in my bank. Everytime I travel through Azshara, I invariably have to kill something and these are stacking up.

Any idea if there will be a use for them in the future or is this yet another white vendor item?

There is an Archmage Xylem that wanders in the tower and give a mage quest. Not sure if it's alliance or horde or both. The teleport guys didn't want the feather from me. I went there today. Not sure if this is a change since one of the updates.

Apparently you no longer have to retrieve feathers. He just ports you up to his "master" for nothing now.

Well not sure about the point of this quest, other than its a little bit of fun. got 2 Undamaged Hippogryph Feather's in 3 kills of Thunderhead Skystormer's. Used the guy to teleport me up to the tower had a look around but blizz still have not made any quests for the alliance here as far as i can see.&nbsp &nbsp You don't loose the Feathers from teleporting so u can keep them to use whenever you may want to.

Thieves have quests with the arch-mage, but you don't have to kill the hippogryphs to get up there.&nbsp The guy just teleports you.&nbsp This works for alliance, don't know about horde.

The quest "Delivery to Archmage Xylem" requires you to talk to Archmage Xylem and unless I'm mistaken, the only way to get to Archmage Xylem is to do this quest.

The map grid system is part of the Cosmos UI (and possibly others). You can approximate the position if you don't have the program. 0,0 is upper left corner, 0,100 lower left, 100,0 upper right, 100,100 lower right... therefore 50,50 is the center of the map. 28,50 would be about 1/4 across the map, halfway down.
