Bring the Light

Archbishop Bendictus wants you to slay Amnennar the Coldbringer in Razorfen Downs.
  •
Amnennar the Coldbringer slain

Description

The Scourge is a persistent threat to the Alliance, a fact I am sure you know quite well. Recently, we have come across some very peculiar findings, <name>.

In the Barrens lies a horrid tangle of briars called Razorfen Downs. While once it was the home of simple quilboar, now it has become apparent that a pact was made with the Scourge, creating creatures far worse... They are now ruled by the lich, Amnennar the Coldbringer.

Align yourself with the Light, <name>; put an end to this evil union.

The Lich is on top of a spiraling hill. If you walk into the instance head right where you see undead summoners and ghosties. And you'll probably pass Glutton on the way, if that helps.

As for the level you can recieve this at, I can confirm you get it at 39. I went with a party for this at 38 and the Bishop's quest mark was greyed out to me. But I Still got Robes of the Lich out of it!

PS: you get both items

This guy is thru the right side of instance, go up spiral pathway and he is at top. There are 2 40+ Captains to get thru before him, and they hit like Mor'Ladim ie. fast and very hard, plus assorted other undead.

The boss isn't so tough but does spawn a few more to help him, stick to killing him tho and they die with him.

I'd guess minimum party is 5 x 40 as the mobs come 5 at a time often.

He does drop a nice plate helm.

Even though this quest isn't part of a series it can't be shared for some reason.

Every person in the group must grab the mission for themself!

We did this quest with 2 Paladins (L46) and 2 Rogues (L41 and L44) and found it to be fairly easy.

There are many pockets of undead to get through on your way to the top, but they are all 5-6 mobs with only 2-3 being elite.&nbsp We killed the non-elites first and then dispatched the others with no problem.

The boss at the end is alone at first, but will summon a bunch of undead when he's about half dead.&nbsp Just keep on him and they will all disappear when he dies.&nbsp We killed him in about 15-20 seconds.&nbsp Maybe less.

I beat this instance with 4 lower lvl 40s. Not too hard. Make sure you have at least one healer - hopefully a character that can remove de-buffs, because there are a ton of them.

When you enter the instance there are two paths:

The left path leads to a sub-boss and a sub-quest further on. To fight the spider sub-boss, bang the gong 3 times.

The right path leads to the main boss (Coldbringer - lvl 41). Expect undead elites in the range of 38-41 before you get to the boss. The boss is alone at first, but he will summon elites as the fight progresses.

Not a bad place for mid-range rares. Good luck.

the definative "how to get there from stormwind guide"

Okay, take the deeprun train to ironforge... (or fly whatever turns you on), fly to menthenil and catch the boat from the southern dock to theramore. Check your map and head west to the barrens, when u get there head south along the main road, jsut before you enter the "thousand needles" area you pass between 2 instance areas, "razorfen kraul" to the east, and "razorfen downs" to the west, its a lil mazey finding the actual instance line in RFD, but nothing 10 minutes of searching cant cover.

Razorfen downs is at the very bottom of the barrens, on theright side.&nbsp when you get in there just fight yer way through the 35+ish mobs and you will see a cave on your left that looks like a boar head, head in.&nbsp just follow that path until you see an instance.&nbsp Happy Questin

Did this today: lvl46 hunter, lvl47pally and lvl47rogue - rogue scouts ahead, hunter pet goes in drawing all aggro, then finish them off from distance. Hunter died once early on till we realised the best tactics, biggest prob was spirits that kept freezing us with ice, but if you hit them early they can't do it. Three blue items plus rewards - not bad for 20mins work.

Dungeon is located on the south end of the barrens, right before the elevator to Thousand Needles. Razerfen Kraul is on the West side, and Razerfen Downs is on the East side, buried way in the back of the village area.

Haven't done the alliance quests for those dungeons, but did do the horde quests. Recommend bringing a couple of high level well equipped friends to clear it quickly.

If you take a group up the Spiral of Thorns to visit death on the Coldbringer, be aware that mobs further up the spiral may notice you and form a convoy down to greet you.

My groups have learned to yell, "Train", and I Divine Intervention our priest whenever we see the string of 15-20 undead coming at us.

While we haven't figured out exactly what's triggering them, we have decided to always stay far to the right side on the spiral in hopes of avoiding being detected.

44 Druid (me) 45 Paladin and 43 Rogue. Druid did first hit then turned into dire bear. Drew all opponents to him. Paladin was healing in the background. Rogue hit like hell. Managed it. Keep hitting the boss at the end. All other creatures disappear when he is dead.

There's also a new quest in there, near the skeleton boss.
Those "walls" to the left are easy to brake with just a rightclick.
In one of them u'll find a guy who gives you a new q in which u're supposed to protect him while he does some kind of ritual, after he's done, u complete the q when u leftclick on a fire there.
U get a rly nice ring!

I did this instance with 2 lvl 38pally (one being me), and 44 feral druid, 42 warlock, and a lvl 39 rogue. that was a perfect group, we slid through the instance with a healadin healing us and killed every monster in the instance, that is probably why it took so long.I was kind of mad when all of the stuff i wanted was neeeded and i lost but ill run againand take the shortcut to the right to get to the boss.

Unless they recently changed it, you couldn't even grab this quest until you're level 40, this is so people don't grab it when they're low and get rushed through (Which is why I'm hoping they really did change it to 38 or 39 so my twink warrior can go get it and get rushed through =) )
Either way, way back when I got it on my 2nd 60 to level 38ish I couldn't grab the quest until 40... But maybe Blizzard is being nice, who knows... Just adding my 2 cents

I did this quest with a lvl 43 Hunter, lvl 40 Warrior, lvl 42 Rogue and a lvl 42 priest. It took us about an hour. This quest was fun, profitable and we got some AWESOME drops. Not to mention that the quest has some great rewards too. This quest took some skill and team work but if everyone knows their role and helps each other you can do it!

I have to disagree with you, Bonesinger. I'd much rather do this quest for 4300xp than the 850 claimed above. This is also helpful information for anyone striving to gain reputation. Perhaps it is not the information you were interested in, but you do not speak for us all and I doubt it would kill you to be a bit more polite about it rather than degenerating to name calling.
