Un'Goro Soil (20)

Description

The soil of Un'Goro Crater is reportedly enriched with potent magical qualities. The Cenarion Circle wants to study this soil in large quantities; go into the wilds of Un'Goro and acquire enough of it for our continued research.

The rich soil will stick out in piles from time to time, and some of the beasts might have usable samples on their being. Take them all outside to Ghede; just look for the piles of dirt and the tauren barking orders. He means well, just don't get him riled up though!

Did this quest when I first went to Un Goro at 48 with my hunter. Most of it drops off the tar monsters but alot of it you can see in dirt piles. Also it dosen't show up as a quest item so if you get this quest in TB you can walk over to the auction house and buy it and not even have to go to Un Goro. Thats the best way to do it and get experiance and TB rep.

Digging up dirt piles can give you anything from 1-3 soil per gather. If you use the gatherer addon you can also see where reported findings are on your map to make it easier to find them. Just watch out for the elite devilsaurs though, they are quite sneaky and will even chase you in deep water as will all the other raptors in the area.

I would suggest doing this together with Super Sticky (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=4504)
the tar monsters drop alot of soil, and if you still don't have enough soils afterwards just run around, they're all over the place, or kill some other mobs.

Be sure to collect Power crystals while you go around, if you haven't completed that quest. You can nail up to three quests at once just by collecting them. If needeth be, you could even do 4, from the Bloodpetal sprouts.

Once you complete this quest, it leads to Marrowgrain Research ((Quest #3782) quest will requires you to have Un'goro soil as well.

So it's best that while you are collecting soil, keep two more bagslots free and collect an extra 14-20 ungoro soil piles.

Pterrorax, Diemetradon, Bloodpetal, Tar Beast, Tar Creeper, Ravasaur, Ravasaur Runner, Ravasaur Hunter.

Got the samples in no time.

Did this np and got nice xp when combined with Muigin and Larion (I think Horde can do this too) as a 48 NE Hunter.

With plenty of Flash Powder this one can be done solo...i walked around in Stealth mode and collected all the soil-samples. It is a good idea to do this quest together with Power Crystals (this quest is given at Marshall's Refuge in northern part of un'goro Crater. u could also do it with the Bloodtail Sprouts quest (also a quest giver in marshall's Refuge)

The soil drops from monsters, one soil per kill randomly. But the piles can have up to 4 soils each, they are nice if you find a few. Not a bad mission, had a hard time finding the guy to turn the quest in afterward though.

In the centre is a volcano. I found more soil piles if you circle the base for those interested.

Quest Completion Date: 4th April 2007
Character Level and Type: 53 Tauren Hunter
Spec: Beastmaster Spec
Description: I thought I would be nice and sneaky by going to orgrimmar auction house and buying the soil but there was none available. After taking advice from zhezha I started grinding tar lurkers and tar lords. One in three drop soil. So I went looking for dirt mounts and there are a lot near the fire plume ridge, they drop 3-4 each time. check by the roots of the trees surrounding.
Rewards: 1g 45s, 4700xp and 300 rep increase with thunder bluff

Easily get all the soil by camping the Tar Mobs that lurk around the Tar puddles in the north, the tar mobs are highly effected by fire and are easily taken down, so get fast soil drops and lots of XP fairly quick.

Happy Hunting!
