Description

You'd think that being chief digger for Marshal Expeditions means I like digging. There might be worse things to do in this world... but none really leap to mind.

We were supposed to be digging in Terror Run - FANTASTIC name by the way - for dead stegodons and diemetradons. Well, there are plenty of live ones there too! Wil and Hol are still all about studying this death trap, so we need those dinosaur bones. Between you and me though, bringing some from live ones will work out just as well.

All of the bones are located at 30,77. There are six by the dead creature and two more on the ground nearby.

Edit: You can also get these randomly as drops form the dinosaurs - stegodons and diemetradons.

As clearly stated by Greetz in an erlier post...

These bones are small white single bones, not the larger carcus/multiple bones.&nbsp I found them hiding conviently around the base of large rocks and shrubs west / SW of the excavation area.&nbsp The drop rate for killing the dinosaur sucks. You should be able to collect these laying on the ground, but be careful, of some of the beasts especially the "Plated" Dinos.&nbsp They are heavly armored and pack heavy damage with hits. They surprised me with the damage they dealt ( wasn't expecting it).

With my level 52 Gnome Warrior I just collected them as I was doing this quest "Shizzle's Flyer" (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=4503) By the time I got 6 Webbed Diemetradon Scales I had all 8 Dinosaur Bones. The drop rate is very similar to the Scales drop rate. Plust you can stay in areas with low level Deimetradon's that don't have level 53 to 57 elites walking around. :D

As the subject states, I've been trying to kill Young Dimetrodons for another quest and I've been getting dino bones off of 'em. I have been getting a drop rate of around 50%. I already have 5 after killing about 10. They're not as abundant as other wildlife but hey, they're only level 49 - 51 and easy to kill. Just an fyi.

For those of you who want to comlete this quest at lvl 49-50 (when quest is yellow), ignore above co-ords.
Instead, head to 58. 65. (The Marsh Lands)
At these Co-ords, you will be able to complete "Roll the Bones" and "Shizzel's Flyer".
"Alien Ecology" is also right by these co-ords, just South West of the above co-ords, (Alien Ecology found at 49. 85.)
And as always, anything you kill can drop "Un'goro Soil"
The big plus here is that, instead of trying to kill lvl 55 dino's , you only have to kill lvl 51-52 dino's, and there is a large number at said co-ords.

if you want to get them quick then just kill the diematradon dinosaurs, they will drop them about 40% of the time. lvl 53 mage took 25 min

The coordinates have been given here many times. They lead you to a big dinasaur corpse around which there are several bones. A couple of 53 or 54 elite dinosaurs slowly wander in and out of the site plus another 55 lvl beast or two. I got about five bones from that area, the rest are scattered widely from there.

Getting there is half the battle. Find a safe place to stand and wait for the mobs to clear. Dash in, collect bone, dash out. Two or three times was attacked but ran to safety and survived. Didn't battle a single beast to finish this quest.

Used far sight to look for other bones in the area and collect them in much the same fashion

I found that the fin backs at 69,33 also drop these bones and were much easier.&nbsp Also drop the scales for the "Shizzle's Flyer" quest and if you have both can get drops for both in the same fights.

I did this quest killing Diametradon's. They are an easy kill at lvl 47 and drop the bones 50% of the time (Not a bad drop rate) I also teamed this up with the Shizzle's Flyer quest so I kileld 2 birds (No punn intended) with one stone.

Just ride from Marshall's Refuge to the east and southeast side of Fire Plume Ridge, killing Diametradons on the way and when you get there.&nbsp Droprate is good.

Just watch for the wandering elites.&nbsp Had to FD once and sac my pet to avoid a graveyard run.

You really gotta watch mob movement with this quest. It ain't nearly as hard as some quests I've had to do.

The location is indeed correct. I was collecting the bones when I died. After ressing I found someone else collecting the remainder of the bones :( and so far have waited about an hour for a respawn with no success.
At least this explains why some people cannot find the bones at this location.

Yes, at 31/78 Cosmos, is a carcass that 5 bones rez around. It is not however a relatively safe spot free from roaming mobs. There are 2 elite Plated Stegedon's hovering around, one elder Diemetradon (53) and another of those gooey things (53) to get through before you can approach. The bones take forever to rez once you've used them. Patience and bravery is needed here.

I'm a 49 priest (shadow) and It was not too tough for me. I only had to kill 1 mob for to actually get near the large corpse. The bones lay all around. I found seven (7) right away, and waited about 15 mins before I found another, making my total 8. Turned in and patted myself on the back.

*Shadowmeld really helps if ur a night elf!

Kinda easy quest really. You dont need to kill any. The Dinosaur bones are on the ground. Just pick em up. They are around 31.77

This quest is quite easy.. i done it in about 15 mins and im a lvl 50 pally .. u dont need to worry about the 53-54 elites.. they havent got much aggro, u have to go right up to them to attack.. a few bones are near the big dead dinosour at Terror Run :) GL

In addition to the dinosaur body mentioned elsewhere in this thread, you can find the rest of the bones that you need northeast of the body at a rock (34,71), which has two bones, and a stump (37,73), which has one. That should get you all eight if you only feel like collecting rather than killing.

Problem with 30, 77 is that there is 54 level elite around it. The young diemetradons, level 49 are at 70, 27 and drop dino bones for this quest

Find the spot with the dead Dino at 31,78 and u will get the bones with a little carefullness - since the big elite 53 Stegodon is roaming the spot. But all 8 bones are there... Kill the goo blobby thingie and u should be able to get them i got them at 49 - be aware that if u are lower lvl ur aggro range i larger....

In the southwestern part of Terror Run, there is a dead dinosaur body with about 6 bones that spawn around it, and it is relatively safe from wandering mobs.

The Carcass has several bones immediately around it, there are also several bones on the ground heading back to the lake (a bunch of boulders and stumps).

I only got 1 bone from live Dimetradons while doing the Shizzle's Flyer quest.

There are several live dinos (Elder Dimetradons and elite Stegosaurs) around the carcase. In the midst of fighting a Dimetredon, I got ganked. Fortunately, even though it is a long run from the GY, I made it back in time to loot the corpse which got me the 8th Dino Bone that I needed.

You can get the bones from killing mobs, but you will be more successful from near the carcass. (Coords are listed in several other posts)

Carcass is in SW corner just into Terror Run from Slithering Scar. It is near the crater wall. There are several other bones on the ground heading from the Carcass toward the center of the Crater.
