The Mighty U'cha

Bring U'cha's Pelt to Torwa Pathfinder at the entrance of Un'Goro Crater.
U'cha's Pelt

Description

While you have been exploring Un'Goro, I have seen other things that a mighty hunter such as yourself would relish in. One such sight was a huge ape among the other gorillas to the north. You have been to that cave before, but this time, I wonder if you'll survive the encounter if you accept my task.

I call him U'cha, and he is one of the Earth Mother's greatest sons, of that you can be sure. Defeat U'cha and bring me his pelt. Do this, and I will defend your right to call yourself a great hunter.

L52 hunter here. All in all a pretty easy quest, but one or two things to watch out for.

Un'goro Gorillas (not thunderer or stompers) .. they call for help at low health, so try and lure them somewhere remote.

Patrolling Un'goro Thunderers, they can sneak up on you.

The spawn rate .. it's pretty fast.

U'cha can spawn alongside "Uhk'loc" .. L53 boss gorilla .. he's no tougher than your average gorilla .. you can pull them individually, but you need to be careful.

At the end of the cave w/ the apes. Level 55 ape, he is colored red. Has a 52 rare silver ape around him sometimes (not too many people come back here). He is a solo pull if you do it right.

52 Paladin. It is a very good idea to try your best to clear the Thunderers and Stompers before you kill any of the normal Gorillas. As said above, the Gorillas call for help when they reach low health so try to clear a large area before taking them on. Keep in mind that the respawn rate is quite fast so don't doddle.

Even if you don't/can't use the rewards from this quest, they sell for quite a bit of coin!

You can get over 4g for the 2H Axe.

This quest is easy if you're a druid or a rogue.&nbsp The cave is located in the NE of Un'goro Crater, right where you killed all the gorillas for the quest immediately before this one.&nbsp

When you head in, go into stealth mode and head for the SE part of the cave.&nbsp In the very SE corner, it will wrap around toward the N and take a steep upward slope.&nbsp Take this path all the way to the end and just before you reach the NE corner, you'll come across a shallow pool of water, with U'cha wading in it.&nbsp Sneak behind U'cha, be sure to stay deep in the water so wandering aggro won't come after you, and do your thing.

I've killed him twice so far once I got some cloth bracers that went for just under 2g on the auction house, and the other time I got a gray item ("Empty Barrel") that went for 20s at the nearest merchant.

Solo'd this at lvl 53.

Stompers and Reg. Gorillas are incredibly easy, its the thunderer patrols you need to watch out for.&nbsp If you are a mage, keep your citrine always on hand if you get backed into a corner by a patrol, these things can take a cloth wearer down 1/4 with their lighting atack (Did about 500dmg/2000hp).&nbsp It's also nice to have PoW at this point in time so you can send out an insant pyro after using your cirtine when your low on health against a patrol.&nbsp Keep your distance and you will be fine, the actual boss, U'cha, was 10x easier then any given thunderer.

As of 2.3, the rare albino is still there, along with one of the normal thunderers. So, as a 52 feral druid I "suicided" on the rare (thinking if i went the normal one and failed he'd just respawn). End up getting the rare down before I died from the 3 of them pounding me. When I shifted out to heal I was stunned by the clever ape.

Went back and had an easy mode fight with just u'cha and the thunderer. At 52, was able to stealth my way in past all the apes, and all the way back out again with 3/3 feral instincts talent.

The previously quoted post-2.3 xp reward is correct.

Did this easy as a lvl 51 MM hunter. Tanked pet as usual and pounded apes with all my artillery and a frost trap. Only trouble i had was a fast respawn rate whilst waiting for health and mana to re-fill.

Just used arcane shot to pull mobs away(seemed easy enough). also got 'Viking war hammer' (blue item) as a drop. 19g! :)

Not that hard too find, but for those who have trouble with it...
Cave is up in the north a little to the east of marshall's refuge (but you should know that by the time you get this quest)

Just keep going left in the cave... he's in a small room at the back..
If you solo this: better look around the corner and pull the lvl 52 first

The gorillas in the cave are *really* sensitive to the increased threat of Earth Shock spell. So if you try to solo the cave, and don't want 3 or more on you at once, DON'T use Earth Shock.

I discovered the hard way that the gorillas will pull from further than you can reach them using Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning.

I soloed this as a 53 druid. I stealthed in to U'cha's part of the cave. There were three gorillas there: U'cha (55), another named (52), and a random regular 52 gorilla. U'cha is brown, the other named is white, and the regular one is grey. (When I helped a friend do this previously, the white named wasn't there). I prowled to the right into the water and waited for U'cha to come close. It didn't take very long - U'cha tended to be closer to that side out of the others' link range. For kicks and giggles I tried the white named next. He was more annoying than U'cha - kept slamming and interupting spells. He didn't drop anything interesting.

About half way into the cave, on your way to the main monkey, you will find that they call for help and at least 3 apes that were no where near you will descend upon you.

I had to feign death, sacrifice pet, wait for the monkeys to leave, revive pet, continue on my way.

Once there, u'cha was easy kill.

Fighting my way back out, including aggroing the 3 monkeys from afar, was much harder than killing u'cha.

...for a Rogue.

The apes seem to have an enhanced ability to detect intruders and/or call for help.

If you are careful, you can stealth inside as a rogue and carefully (carefully) pick off the apes one by one. Occasionally, you might aggro two or three...but if you are up to spec for your level, this should not present a huge problem.

U'cha was an easy kill as a L54 NE R. I did make sure to kill the L52 who is a short distance from U'cha before taking him on. You can pull him away from U'cha and deal with him separately, then go for the big guy.

Some of the apes will have respawned on the way out if you chose to kill everything on the way in...so be careful! And there may be a pack of Gorilla's waiting for you just outside the cave entrance as well!

Did this one solo at 53, its pretty straight forward, except that the lesser named gorilla never spawned for me. I saw her in there once but never again. THe main gorilla is barely more difficult than the regular ones. The reward weapon is nice especially for a leatherworking cuz it has beastslayer bonus. Good exp, easy quest, good reward = worth your time.

...as the old song goes.

I also got the rare white gotilla, and unfortunately pulled him along with U'cha when I shot thhe uhk'loc, trying to pull him to a safe killing ground. Oh well.

I was full of so many different types of crystals that Ted Haggart was telling me to go into rehab with him. (No one will get this joke in three months. The duller among you won't get it NOW.) I did noticw that U'cha, like the Thunderers, takes a lot of damage from fire-- so I used a Crystal Charge on them and a Crustal Restore, and nothing from my stock of healing potions. It worked.

The uhk'loc dropped a fair green (coincidentally, something of the Monkey) and I just wish I could do the quest again and get both rewards. For a level 52 Warrior the weapons are better than average, and the Beastslaying bonus will be very handy!
