My suggestion, first complete Crystals of Power (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=4284). Then pick up the unlocked quests, Western Crystal Pylon, Northern Pylon, and Eastern Pylon. Now head over to the Northern Pylon @ https://classicdb.ch/?object=164955, that same area is where you will find your 10 Pterrodax. Now once you've finished there, head over to the Eastern Pylon @ https://classicdb.ch/?object=164957. Continue on towards the Western Pylon @ https://classicdb.ch/?object=164956. (Side note: I suggest you cut through The Marshlands with all the Ravasaurs for time, but once you hit the Slithering Scar stick to the wall of Un'goro until you reach the Western Pylon, you'll find a few Frenzied Pterro's along the way.). Much like the Northern Pylon you'll find that the same hill which has the Western Pylon is a wonderful spot to kill most of the 15 Frenzied Pterrodax required by the quest. Their levels range from 31-33 and you don't have to worry about large roaming elites. There you go, knocked out 4 quests :].
Edit: Watch out, Pterrodax fear.

Lets make this easier:

Pterrodaxes at Northern Pylon: cords 57,14 to where you want to start going up, (its kinda up in the mountains) I only found about 4-5 but best place to farm them, just wait for respwn

Frenzied Pterrodaxes: 38,32 ish, right in that area, just west of that river there. Run around in a big circle and you should find them.

Good to do this quest with Shizzle's Fyler. You can get the sclaes off all these guys you kills AND the Diemetradon (any type of these) that you find around them.

Ok, I read aobut how hard these are to find.. The regular ones that is.. Was able to verify that there is indeed a large ammount of them at the southern loc's...

For those of you with the ability to have cords.. I am standing at the entrance of the path that leads to where I found 9 of them.. 45,87

For those who can't go by cords here are some land marks..

1. First get the ability to read cords.
2. Then go to the above listed cords.
3. If you still do not have that ability then do this... Go directly south of the Slithering Scar. Then stay along that ridge while going West. You will come to them soon.. If you get to where the Dino's are.. you went to far.

have fun!

Soloed this quest with some difficulty as a level 51 warrior. The main danger with the Frenzied Pterrodaxes (found mainly to the western side of the volcano, north of Terror Run) is that they tend to be near other mobs that aggro -- other pterrodaxes and diemetradons especially. I died several times from aggro. The diemetradons have a harsh strength/agility debuff, which was extremely bad for me as a warrior. Also be careful to watch for Devilsaurs, since several patrol the area as well.

The regular Pterrodaxes can easily be found in the area near the northern pylon (https://classicdb.ch/?object=164955) but there are not enough there to complete the quest. If you kill off every pterrodax there, you will find about 5 or 6 of them. It's helpful to kill half of what you need the first time, then come back on your way back to turn in quests and get the other half.

If you have actually scrolled down the page to the bottom i would like to post a nice easy way to do this quest. To kill the normal flieing raptor things... follow the south wall looking for ramps which are climbable. each section will lead you to 3 or so bird thingys. To get the frenzied bird thingies do the same on the south wall but do it on the east. If you finish a wall and still have to kill some more just go back to the start. quest didnt take me long at all and i needed the boots cose im broke. Hope this post helps cose it is deffantly right if you undertsand it properly.

After i killed all pterrordax (6) i waited for respawn at 56,10 (northern pylon) After at least 20 minutes only 1 respawned...
10 minutes passed, still no respawn (writing this while waiting) I even took al small walk away from the spot into the crater (hoping it would help)
15 minutes, still no respawn. Also the crystals and soil i found there does not respawn.

Conclusion: waiting is a waste of time come back later.

Note: i killed all 6 of them in less then 3 minutes.

Far by the poorest quest in Un'goro the respawn rate of pterrordaxes at 56,12 is horrable, i killed the mobs 30min ago, went farming on other quests in un'goro, went back now (30min wait) and yet no respawn..

I suggest you skip this quest if you are in a hurry=)

Done this quest in 10 minutes time.

West in the mountains are all the Frenzied ones and south are all the 'normal' Pterrordax.

East in the mountains are 'Fledging Pterrordax', not needed for this quest but for getting the scales (for the other quest) it is handy.

If you are on a higher population server, I would recommend going to the southern spawning point. The Northern one seems to have an extremely slow respawn rate and it is being camped quite often. This quest took me quite some time to complete because of how sparse the Pterrordax were.

the east side has the frenzied, the south and north have the normal.

50,46 is one of three of these areas to the south(no x,y for the 2 others.)But there is one on each side not far from 50,46.

The regular pterrordax appears to take over an hour to respawn. That means in order to get 10 u have to hit at least 2 nesting areas on the crater rim as mentioned below, because single nesting areas don't hold that many. I camped the nesting area where the north crystal pylon is. It took WELL OVER an hour, maybe closer to 2 hours before they respawned. Got lots of crystals to make explosive charges while I was waiting.

That wasn't a problem with the Frenzied variety, they're all over the place near Marshall's Refuge, not just in the hills, and they respawn much faster.
