Traverse Dun Algaz

Description

Orcs of the Dragonmaw clan have a haven in the Wetlands. And now they have expanded into Dun Algaz! We can't let them keep their foothold here or Loch Modan will be cut off from Menethil Harbor, our port and stronghold in the Wetlands.

Break through Dun Algaz to the Wetlands beyond, and kill some orcs for good measure! Report to Valstag Ironjaw in Menethil Harbor.

Menethil is through Dun Algaz, then north along the road, then west at the fork.

We're counting on you, <name>. Do not fail.

"traverse Dun Algaz" aka continue down the road to wetlands

This quest is rather easy. Go through the tunnel and on the left there is a camp of said orcs. They can be pulled one at a time, just be careful as they are runners. To complete the satisfy objective, just continue through the rest of the tunnels until you reach the wetlands. Then onto Menthril Harbor to turn in.

If you had trouble on the Algaz Gauntlet, and you could not get the question mark yellow... check the quest.&nbsp It says you have to traverse the whole trail... and if you did like me... and had to go back to Loch Modan and flew.... then you didn't get credit for completing the task.. go back to the point of the fight... at least... then finish the tunnel out and the question mark will be yellow... I did, and it worked fine...&nbsp It's picky but it's the quest.. You can look at your quest log and if it does not say complete by the quest, then something was omitted.. most likely the finishing the exact course by foot... to Menethil

Good questing to you all

This took a while with my 21 mage because I kept getting jumped by multiple guys when I made my way in to the grunts.&nbsp Then I'd have to run/blink out and have to kill most of the scouts to get back in which took time.&nbsp I figured out if you are facing the camp to the right you can go up on the side of the hill (just time the scout movements so you can stay far enough away from them), then cross the big fallen tree to the left side and get to the grunts by staying up on the left side of the hill away from the scouts.&nbsp It's kind of a back door approach that got me the last of the grunts.&nbsp Just try to pull them up the hill one by one.&nbsp Unfortunately for some reason I got to the harbor and didn't satisfy the traverse part of the quest so no clue what happened there.

Little tip... if you're going from the Wetlands TO Loch Modan, that doesn't count. You have to go towards Wetlands.

EDIT: After hearthing to Ironforge, getting back to Wetlands, I ran over to the Dun Algaz tunnel entrance, and the quest completes at that point. So you don't really have to go through the entire tunnel. Obviously you have to GET the quest at the Ironforge end of the tunnel, but you don't have to run back through to complete it.

You don't actually have to go in the building for this quest, so long as you can find enought scouts and grunts to kill. The "traverse" bit seems to mean that you continue on through the normal tunnel system to the wetlands, which is easy. My 21 warrior did fine.

If you get to menethil and the question mark is still grey you may have done what I did

FAter you have killed the mobs, you then have to walk all the way through the tunnels to the wetlands.

If you look at the quest there is a list of three things to do, and the first is to traverse dun algaz. If you do that as well as kill the mobs, the question mark turns yellow

We got this quest all done and went back to the guy in Menethil Harbor but the question mark over his head was still gray. It says complete in our quest log but we can't complete it. Has anyone else had this problem?

The quest consists of going through the first set of tunnels from Loch Modan in the direction of the Wetlands. Just after the first tunnel your path will be blocked by mobs of Dragonmaw Scout Mobs. These are the mobs you must kill to complete the quest. Deeper in that cove that appears to be a small base are where the Dragonmaw grunts are. This quest is not hard just take your time. I did it easily with my 19 warrior...but then again..he is a lil bit twinked.

Manage your pulls, and this is incredibly easy to solo, quite possibly a little moreso as a rogue (done at lv 21 with my rogue Yume). Use every trick in the book, climb up walls to do long range pulls, body pull, use any crowd control you have, and you should be fine.

I solo'd this as a level 19 Warlock fairly quickly.

At the main camp of Orcs in Algaz (between two tunnels), I pulled and killed the scouts one-by-one no problem. To get the Orcs I snuck around the perimeter of the camps and pulled the ones closest to me. The idea is not to wake up anyone in the middle of the camp. The respawn is fairly quick, so you can do it again shortly afterwards.

I never go into the camp.&nbsp Just before you enter the fence go right up the hill.&nbsp There are many grunts and scouts well spaced.&nbsp Soloed easily with my 20 NE priest.

A clarification on the "Traverse Dun Algaz" issue.&nbsp I killed the mobs I needed and hearthed back to Menethil immediately after.&nbsp I then realized that to complete it I would need to actually walk the tunnels.&nbsp If you just enter the first tunnel on the Wetlands side of Dun Algaz, you'll satisfy the "traverse" portion of the quest.&nbsp No need to go through the entire path again.&nbsp Just walk in that door and back out and you'll be alright.

Soloed quest with my level 19 Druid.&nbsp You can easily pull one at a time.&nbsp As a Druid, I can take on two, if I stay in bear form.&nbsp If you want to fight the Grunts and not go all the way into the camp, go up the hill to your right (just where you're entering the camp).&nbsp Some will be on guard up there, along with Scouts.&nbsp So far I've seen only two Grunts on ground level, near the camp entrance.&nbsp Found three up on those hills.&nbsp Another one is perched on a hill to the left of the camp entrance.&nbsp May fluctuate, but so far it's been the same each time I've gone in there.&nbsp By the time you get the ones on the hill, you'll go down and see that the others have respawned.&nbsp

This small area full of orcs is great for leveling up quickly (at lvls 17, 18 and 19) as the respawn rate is supa-fast, also they are a peice of piss to down.

Traverse Dun Algaz:
Simply walk out the way you come in if you came from Wetlands, and you shall be fine. The tunnel closest to wetlands is the one you have to go out through.

Conerning the orcs, they where simply fun on my level. Me (On my level 26 mage) and my friend on his level 23 mage had a go with AoE on them, plain fun.

Should be easily soloable aswell tho.

Also we managed to find a raremob + a chest.
The chest gave me a blue BoE item called 'Thorbia's gauntlets'.

Enjoy

My lvl 20 Mage was able to do this with a few healing potions and mana potions. The orcs were easy to find as they attacked me as soon as I started to go into the next to the last tunnel to the wetlands.&nbsp Go left where attacked and clean your way to the buildings killing all scouts - the grunts I picked off from the hillside on the left of the ravine. Then cleaned out scouts on my way back to the tunnel.

When you travel to Dun Algaz you go threw two of the tunnels and then you should see orcs around the level 19-22. When you finish killing then amount of orcs you need then you have to go threw all four of the tunnels then you should finish up the mission -->(Traverse Dun Algaz).

Wonderful place for leveling a lvl20 NE Hunter with a bear to lvl 21. The Orcs not in the villiage are space quite apart from each other. Once you made a circle of wacking everyone on the ridge, the Orcs in the valley would've respawned.

Anyway be sure you walk thru the tunnels to Menthril don't fly there as I did the first time after killing the orcs. Valstag wont complete the quest unles u walk there.
