The Relics of Wakening

Retrieve the Relics of Wakening and bring them to Athridas Bearmantle in Dolanaar.
Raven Claw Talisman
Black Feather Quill
Sapphire of Sky
Rune of Nesting

Description

Gnarlpine invaders were seen ravaging the Ban'ethil Barrow Den to the west.

The slumbering druids will be trapped in the Emerald Dream for eternity, unaware of their fate, unless we help. The delicate hibernation ritual cannot be broken without the Relics of Wakening.

Journey to the Den and retrieve the Raven Claw Talisman, Black Feather Quill, Sapphire of Sky, and Rune of Nesting. The druids store them in sacred chests. Return them to me and I will prepare the awakening ritual.

--The first two relics are found when you walk in. Follow the little tunnel till you come to an opening with two bridges infront of you. At the end of both bridges are little caves with the chests that hold the relics. Careful: There are usually two guys within the caves and there's one (that's possibly on both) that patrols the bridge to your left.

--After that, keep following the tunnel. There will be a place to go infront of you, and tunnel leading off to the right that looks like it "spiral's" down. Follow the spiral tunnel. You will eventually come to another bridge that you may cross. There is no relic inside this cave, but a quest. Its up to you if you want to get it. The guy's name is Rageclaw, if I recall correctly...
**If you do go straight ahead, this will take you to a platform.

--Now, on that plat form, there's usually a guy standing in the middle, and one that patrols the bridge leading to the platform and another patrolling the little bridge that leads you down, along with another that walks on the other bridge straight ahead (or almost) of you. That's where you want to go. It's like a cave - when you first walk in there's approx. 2 guys in that little 'bubble'. There's a tunnel to your right which you want to take. That takes you to another 'bubble' in which there's approx. 2 more guys. Once you kill them, turn to the right and there's your chest with one of the relics sitting out on a 'deck' (looks like one, as it has a railing...).
**If you didn't go straight ahead, don't worry.

--If you get the quest, that's alright. Now, there's going to be another opening straight ahead, and once more, another that spirals down. Take the spiral first - There's another relic down there. This one is by that beloved Greenpaw dude...whatever his name is...Anyways, there's him (usually lvl 10ish or so) along with a lvl 8, 7, or 9. Once you're done there, move back up the spiral and take the opening on your right. Follow that. You'll come to a little arena-like area. There'll be a large pillar of stone in the middle, with guys walking around it. There IS a little cave bubble down there, but it HAS NO RELIC. This is where rageclaw's body lurks, so he might attack you. He patrols around the pillar. Now, there should be a little pathway to your left, taking you up to the platform. Kill the guys there. (I've describe approx. how many guys are there in the lil dot thing above this one.) You're going to want to take the bridge to your right, leading you into The cave bubble. Kill the guys there and take the one to your left to the next bubble, kill those guys. To your right is the 'deck' with your relic

#1 thing is to be careful of where you fight them.&nbsp give them running room.&nbsp pull them back (watch respawns to your rear).

#2 keep moving. do your bathroom break and telephone calls before this.&nbsp you dont want respawns to catch you.

when you walk in, you see two bridges.&nbsp one item at each end.&nbsp

go down and take a left.&nbsp go straight when you come to the crossing and loop around up to the left to get the talisman.

now, walk down the stairs and to the right... head south.&nbsp next open room you'll find Oben Rageclaw up to the left, and he gives a simple quest.

eventually, you will find your nemesis: Greenpaw.

i died the first fight, but i took him out in time.&nbsp cleaning up the guard was easy when i spawned.

sapphire is right next to greenpaw.

Most people, as one of the posts I'd read, say that you need this kind of group if you're this kind of lvl.
Personally, I've found that a good lvl to do this quest solo would probably be above 12...Though, that's a pain trying to lvl, right?
Mostly, I simply waited till I was about lvl 9ish or so. I grouped with anyone else who needed to do this quest also.
I've gone through this quest on my rogue, hunter, priest, and druid.
All you have to do is be lvl 8+. Otherwise...good luck with aggro..

::A suggestion::

  • --If you're lvl 9, try grouping with 2 other people. Or one. I was able to group with one other person on all my chars when I was lvl 9 and we didn't die once. BUT - You have to know what you're doing! Don't run into the guys - they're quick to respawn.
  • --If you want to be safe, try grouping with 2 ppl. With a group of 3, you should have no problem...so long as you guys are alert and watching for those evil respawns.
I have inlcuded a map to where the den is.Clicky (might be tiny...but it will show you where it is lol)

You'll find Ban'ethil Barrow Den at 45.55
Get inside the house and follow the road down.
Take the right bridge and get 'black feather Quill'.
Take the left bridge and get 'rune of nesting'.
Go down, and then left.
Go over the bridge and through the small corridor. (watch out, two lvl 9 mobs). Get 'raven claw talisman'.
To get the last item it might be best to get back to the beginning and take right instead of left when you 'go down'.
Follow the road. and get DOWN. The last item is inside the small room.
A lvl 10 and 9 mob is guarding it. There is a food create next to them too.

piece a cake, if you remember to bring your luck.
I died four times before getting the last item. At least i soloed the whole quest )

After the intial tunnel into the place, there will be a set of rooms with bridges. Check these rooms for pieces.

After you have 2 pieces, keep going down. You'll see another set of bridges. Carefully inch your way until you can see who is in the rooms at the ends of the bridges. Run your mouse until you see the Druid spirit for a quest. Clear the room, and trigger the quest.

Below the Druid, in a cave, is a named Furlbog who will have the Sapphire. Or the Sapphire will be in a chest.

Now, if you stand at the top, facing the room with the Druid spirit, there's a tunnel on the left. Take the left tunnel, and you'll see a bunch of Furlbogs wandering around, and then you'll see the Druid body you need to kill.

Kill it. and remember to use the totem. I suggest turning in the quest right away.

Return to that room and take a tunnel. I don't remember it well. If you descend more, there is another set of bridges. Take the one to the right, and kill the things in the cave. It might have a barrel of water in there.

Keep following the path ( do not double back ) and you'll enter another room that has the chest with the Raven piece.

I tried this so many times, died a lot. The first 2 pieces were easy to find. It was the last 2 that were a pain.

This may not be accurate, but I tried my best.

Good luck. Hopefully, you can hearth out of the burrow when you're done. Either that, or suicide and spirit res outside. It's not worth fighting your way out.

Quick and dirty coordinates version:

Ban'ethil Barrow Den entrance: 43,58

Black Feather Quill: 43,61 in a small room across a bridge.

Rune of Nesting: 44, 60 in a small room across a different bridge. Same chamber as the Quill.

Sapphire of Sky: 44,62 in a small room at the very bottom of the chamber.

Ravenclaw Talisman: 45,57. Get there by taking the eastern bridge in that chamber. Clear the small room and take the tunnel on the left. It leads to the balcony that the chest is on.

Thank you to the post above by CharlzO, the guide was brilliant, I followed it and completed the quest SOLO as a level 9 Hunter (leveling to level 10 in cave, but getting no training and no pet). I used 4 Minor Healing Potions and died only once. I also completed both of the quests from Oben Rageclaw (http://classicdb.ch/?npc=7317), The Sleeping Druid (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=2541) and Druid of the Claw (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=2561).

Their was no change in the amount of Mobs in the cave in patch 2.3, still being 2 or 3 mobs in the 'bubbles'.

Thanks again for the help!

This quest is a hell for hunters without a pet. Don't even try this.
Terrain and bridges make u loose 'line of sight', so u are able to fire up to 2 arrows before u get crushed by 2-3 furblog warriors in melee no way to survive the pull... no way to run due to the rapid respawn

This quest seems designed to be the final level 9 quest before hitting the road from Dolanaar to Darnassus, where my character would then hit level 10 and get druid training, bear quests, fishing, etc.&nbsp If this quest didn't hit level 10, the other 2 sending my character to Darnassus would do it. I meant to finish it and call it a night. Instead, I got through the first 2 quest items solo, then died twice trying to move on, recovered my body, and hearthed out. Should have stayed with the priest and warrior who grouped with me on the previous cave quest, where it really was possible to solo.

Going in, I thought this quest (and maybe the Fel Rock cave quest) seemed to be designed to encourage newbies to learn to group, so they'll be ready for harder quests and instances a few levels later.&nbsp As a solo druid, it seemed to take just the right timing to get one of the self-healing shamans down to where one wrath would kill them without their self-healing. After getting those first two quest items, it seemed like there was always a shaman and a warrior or two, so when the shaman didn't go down, it left my druid nearly out of mana to heal or to fight effectively, and one or two warrior adds. Thus the deaths.

I can see leveling up, training, and coming back with the bear form, but I think I'd like to get a small group together, 2 or 3 people, to get this one done before moving on to Darnassus. It may be do-able solo, but at level 9 most of us are just learning our class, and it's hard.

I did this quest when I was a level 9 Rogue, and I leveled to 10 in it.&nbsp It took incredibly long, though, even with a druid that was my level.&nbsp Killing the monsters was no problem, it's just that there were so MANY of them, it was crazy.&nbsp On top of that the whole place is a friggin Labyrinth for people without Cosmos, it was a nightmare.&nbsp I finally pulled it off, though, and felt pretty good afterwards.&nbsp By the way, to the person who said a level 7-8-9 rogue should use two daggers, they don't get Dual Weld until level 10.

Seconded the above comment, take your time, be careful, and unleash hell to stop runners (or pull them back).

Another thing that makes this quest frustratingly difficult is that unless you were lucky enough to have some bags drop earlier, the four items needed to complete this quest will seriously clutter your lonely 16-slot backpack. And that means less room for the epics that might drop.

Yep, went well with a group. I took along another druid who's a good player, plus a warrior and then a third druid we met along the way. The two extras were newbies who did some sub-optimal stuff, like racing ahead and bringing back 4 "friends", but the two of us never came close to dying and we got all the items as described above. We did fine as two level 9 druids alone for much of it (one of the extras decided to take a shower, and the warrior kind of ran off to another area for half the quest), but when it was a level 11 warrior and 2 level 9 druids against one or two mobs, it went quickly enough that adds could usually be dispensed with easily.

Good chance to practice grouping skills if you're new, and good place to teach them if you're doing this as an alt - I don't think there was any green loot, but there are chests to roll for, and basic ideas like staying together and not racing in to aggro a half dozen mobs are things that came up for us. Was also a good chance to practice healing.&nbsp It's a long quest, and the cave is quite the labyrinth, but I think it's a really well-designed low-level quest that helps get you ready for stuff like Deadmines in another 10 levels.

Just don't loot the small stuff like an apple or one copper. The corpse will sit there. One of those pain-to-navigate quests, but when you leave unlooted corpses it's kinda like leaving bread-crumbs so that you know where you HAVE been.

I am doing this quest currently as a lvl 13 gnome mage in fact i just started it today. On thing that helped me was the fact that there were like 20 other people int the dungeon with me.

It also doesn't hurt that if i get agroed i just freeze them in place and then pick the off. All in all not that hard provided the dungeon is crowded. Will have to see what this is like deserted. :)

The quest is actually quite easy when you exactly know the locations of the 4 items. I soloed it as a lvl 9 druid and died not even once what's more, I even had to heal myself only once. First time I did the quest though and had no idea where the items were I struggled hard with my lvl 12 priest and died again and again. I did not do Rageclaw though with my lvl 9 druid I will return for that at a higher level.
And here are the locations:
Chest of Black Feather Quill: 43,61
Chest of the Sky: 44,62
Chest of the Ravenclaw: 45,57
Chest of Nesting: 44,60

Take the road west from Dolanar. It's south a ways off of the road before you reach Darnassus. There are actually two caves in that area, and you want the southerly one.

I did this solo this morning in half an hour with a level 11 hunter and a level 11 stalker for a pet, and it was pretty easy. Neither me nor Rex died at all, though he sometimes got down to 33% hp.
