She suggests there might be more to this, but I've been trough the entire area and could find nothing of the sort.
for those that are interested, the jist of the alliance quest text (i could read the npc text as horde, how ironic is that!) said that the moonkin were shown to the nightelves thru a dream, and thru elune guided into helping guard her sacred artifacts. the artifact they were protecting at caves in winterspring is a gem/monlith that (it hovers above the alter but you cant see it until the quest activates it with a bunch of spectral guardians) allowed direct communication with elune. after centuries of guarding her artifacts the moonkin went feral losing contact with elune and forgot their path, now lost enranged crazed and corrupt they seek out those places of protection from the past not knowing why they guard them so but drawn to them all the same.

Found the quest item off a Beserk Owlbeast in the Winterspring zone. Upon completion of quest received 6400xp and choice of 2 items. Easy quest, just deliver the item to said npc.
