(At approximate current prices on my server...)

Pristine Hide of the Beast: 400g
Arcane Crystal: 28g x 8 = 224g
Frayed Abomination Stitching: Farm you ass off
Enchanted Scarlet Thread: See above
+50g to complete

TOTAL = 674g + massive farmage

Now, maybe if your loaded you can afford this, but that still doesn't make it worth it. It's not much more than a run of the mill epic. (I'm sure someone will have some arguement that no one cares about right here.) That time and money is much better invested in raid dungeons or something.

THE POINT: PASS THIS QUEST BY!

How about the bloodvine in ZG? It needs the bloodscythe and is used in all sorts of plans.&nbsp Should the herbalist get to keep any bloodvine because they have the scythe?

It takes a group to get to the location.&nbsp The item is needed by lots of people.&nbsp Learn to share.

I need to get to 60 and complete a quest to get the best water for my mage, but by your logic I should never give this to the people I team with because I did the work to get it not them..

Here's hoping I never team with you guys.

Yeah, I think I will go a bit further, and post a couple stats for ya.

Pristine Hide of the Beast - Anywhere from 200-450g depending on server on AH. ( Skinners with enough can just PRAY that they can skin off mr beastie)

Frayed Abomination Stitching - easy

Arcane Crystals - On my server, 25g apiece on AH

Enchanted Scarlet Thread - 1, possibly 2 runs to pick em all up.

So, if you want to be technical, this hat, that ONLY gives a crit boost, and not a big one. Can cost anywhere from 450g, to 800g for everything required. Whereas, you can run MC a few times, and spend some DKP, and get yer T1 piece, or run UBRS, and snatch up a Dragoncowl.

At any rate, TOTALLY not worth it IMO.

Well put Shaddai:

I have several toons with a myriad of professions.&nbsp Honestly, I think herb/alch is the hardest.&nbsp Tailoring has been a cinch for $$ and cost me basically nothing, skinning -- EASY to level, etc

I just think that all the points made are valid.&nbsp Bottom line is: yes, you skin and don't roll on the Hide, yer going to be called a ninja -- seen it happen before.&nbsp Why not establish rules and agree on format before even going?&nbsp Went through mara once and we rolled on every ghost mushroom I picked so folks could sell them and make $$ too, other times I looted away :)&nbsp Just establish procedure before hand -- oh, and hope yer not with folks who will renig

At a time when there was no availability of the dressing room a mage in our guild got this after a couple weeks of hard work.

I don't think we had any serious conversations later that night

1. The item is not very good, like mentioned above.

2. It looks ridiculious...

And now with BC launched I don't think these will get made alot...

I can't believe skinners are actually in good faith saying that they took tons of effort to level up their skinning.&nbsp I'm a skinner and it was probably the easiest profession to level of any that I've levelled to 300.&nbsp Bar none.

It took groups to get the dagger too, so any claim to having gone tons of times to get the dagger is non-meritorious.&nbsp And it took a group to kill the beast.

All in all, probably just the best thing to only take a trustworthy skinner.&nbsp

Ok, so lets put this in another type of perspective...

I have a priest who is a tailor/enchanter. I spend all my time to do the rep grinds and other farming just to get the enchants and tailor patterns that people really want. You are a skinner and you come to me for a +5 skinning enchant, which I provide to you for a reasonable price based on cost of mats.

Later, we run UBRS in a PUG and we kill the beast. Now, I wear cloth so obviously I will be very interested in this hide for the quest. Are you going to tell me that I dont have any right to a chance at that hide just because you are the one who skinned it? You wouldnt have been able to skin it if it werent for my enchant.

Are you going to expect me to drop either one of my professions that required several hours of not just running around and clicking on a dead mob, but actual FARMING, not to mention the costs associated with those things, just so I can actually be able to skin it myself?

Get a clue here guys. As I said, first off you wouldnt be able to skin the damn thing if it werent for other people who ARENT skinners, let alone the group that got you there. Secondly you dont have to buy/loot/farm rep for patterns, formulas etc for skinning like some other professions. Stop thinking about just yourselves for a few minutes and look at the whole picture.

I used to have skinning, but i that is not the point.
the point is that when i need that skin i buy it from&nbsp
some skinner and that is maybe expensive but he has to buy arcane crystals from me if he want to get the cap to,so my point is that this is how the trade and auction system works...... and i LOVE IT!

P.S If 2 or more players in a group/raid have skinning/mining/herbalismen they roll on who get to skin/mine/gather, but that goes without saying.

Have fun guys

You all need to stop complaining about this crap and just talk about the quest. Join a Guild and get them to help you. My Guild Maleovent Strike is great and help me a lot, when I need this I will just ask a skinner to help me get it and its done. Now what about the other items, can they be farmed or must they be bought (except the crystals).

I have spoken to Finkle prior to getting the Hide many times.

1) Finkle doesnt give a quest but all you do is speak to him, that is it plain and simple.

2) You then go to winterspring for the quest inside the first hut on the right hand side on the table is the catelogue.

^--- you have no idea what ur talking bout comparing 2 whole diffrent things.. dont bring up your misere&nbsp you tough luck nub .. lol

and bout the skin... this is most fair, people able to skinn should roll, winner gets to skin.
he decides wheather he keeps it or let the whole raid roll. now.. dont bring up stuff that you want to roll if you rnt a skinner... i skinned this thing and nobody made a big deal over it bcuz they know im gonna make the cap, but now i still need 8 arcane crystals tho :/

So from now on i'm gonna ask all the miners to have a raidroll on evry arcane crystal i think :p
NOT NOT NOT **** OFF OH MY GOD WHAT R U THINKING>>>

And .. ill keep&nbsp my skinning and let the raidroll on my next PHotB.

BTW im pretty lucky guy.. i won and skinned 3 hides on my old realm... took the 1st , gave number 2 and 3 away, i hope it will go the same on this realm

So you dont want to let the group roll on the Hide. ok then, just remember that the next time you may need a Flask of Titans for BWL or AQ, they can say no, just like u said no to them for the Hide, they took all that time to get to 300 Alchemy, and all those UBRS runs to Drakk just to get the recipe.&nbsp But no, you bring the mats to people and sure they'll make it for you. just takes a quick scholo run to Ras (more time taken from their schedule) just to make it....so dont be greedy. other people put more effort into other things than you have into skinning.

Goddamnit. If the skinner should be able to keep the skin, the he just as might clear and kill the beast solo!

Getting to the beast is a groupeffort, and as many has said, skinners picked their prof out of free will, lvled it up to 315, and got on that UBRS run with their free will. Noone is forcing them to do that, BUT! If now the $%^&ing skinner decides "hey, why dont i keep this skin, and let the others kick me" then again its out of free will. But.. lvling skinning is never a group effort, but killing the beast is! So dont say " i lvled skinning up to 315, it should be mine becuse ive taken the time to do it" PIIIIIIIP! WRONG! If u think like that, u will never ever have use of ure 315 skinning, becuse everything that needs over 300 in skinning, cant be killed solo!

The hide should be rolled on by the people with the quest

Discuss before the instance what happens if this drops in a PUG. If they keep it still, then they are a ninja, take screen shots, post on the forums, and make sure this person could never instance again.
You can't compare this to Arcane Crystals either, if there was a crystal worth 500+gp, and you needed a special pick that a boss dropped which you needed to be in a raid to mine. AND in order to harvest the mine, you needed to kill another raid level boss, then you can compare it.
If you do this in a guild run, and a guild skinner wants to charge you for this (provided you need it for the quest), that person should be gkicked.

Declearing sum1 ninja and spamm his name at LFG Channel and on forums is bout the most retarded thing to do when a skinner wins the roll out of the guys that can skin and he decides to keep it for himself.

I am&nbsp no skinner myself but&nbsp i know some guys that have picked up skinning only for getting tPHoTB, they have a small chance to get the knife, an even smaller chance to get the hide, and hell im not making it alot smaller for them to be greedy and say they cant keep it....

The guys here saying Skinner cant keep the hide are just greedy pricks. And you might have ur doubts bout it, but then spamm sum1 name with ninja is totally %^&*ed... u damn noobs that did this shuld all be vaporized or smthng!

OK u say if everyone in raid wants to roll for this then u want to roll for thorium and such?.. This is an epic uest item.key word EPIC. Im an herbalist and I have to give bloodvine up in ZG and its green. But it goes to the guild to make stuff or is rolled on as end loot. And you are complaining about an EPIC item. I think everyone should get to roll. Given those with the quest should have priority because they are actually gonna use it instead of the rest of u greedy b@stards that are just gonna sell it on AH anyway. So just dont be complete morons and look at the logic. I mean cmon people Blizzard even color coded it for you. Is that not clear enough?
PS: i wouldnt waste time on this hat unless you just want the 2% crit for pvp cause there is a lot of +dmg gear out there that is much nicer and easier to get

Frayed abomination stitchings drop from the abominations outside the Slaughterhouse in UNDEAD (eastern entrance) Stratholme, you tards.

If none have dropped, you're in LIVE (or SCARLET) Strath... get a new group.

The scarlet thread, as noted, drops in Scarlet Strat chests.

And good luck to anyone trying to get this (like my fire mage friend)... 8 arcane crystals = 200g post-1.10 inflation... damn delicate arcanite converters jackin up the price and stuff...

A significant investment in time and money (especially if you buy the hide, like my friend after it didn't drop in his 100th UBRS run), but by far the best hat in the game for mages short of tiered set pieces. With the Zandalar enchant, which he's putting on it, this is nothing short of godly caster headwear, no matter what the class.
