Description

Many of the defenders fell at the battle of Darrowshire. And many roam again as the ghastly servants of the Scourge! Find these poor souls and end their misery!

Hunt cannibal ghouls, gibbering ghouls and diseased flayers. Many of these fiends were once the good folk of Darrowshire and destroying their forms now will set their souls free.

You will find them in Plaguewood and Corin's Crossing, and in other Scourge strongholds of Eastern Plaguelands.

There are three locations for the spirits.

1. Corin's crossing (59,72)level 54-56 mobs
2. Browman mill (67,49) level 58-60 mobs
3. Plaguewoods (34,34) Level 54-56 mobs

There is no one great spot for them. They are spread out and are not easy to find.

For you low level i suggest you hit plaguewoods. But everything is spread out and you better watch out for a killer elite patrol. They have a deadly knock back.

Anyone 56+ hit browman mill. Everything is nice and together.

On another note, the ghouls respawn as stiches, plus the warriors and mages. So make sure you kill everything and not just the ghouls because most likely they will not respawn as ghouls again.

O yes this quest took me about two hours and i !@#$ing hated every minute of it. At least i leveled! Woot!

I used the location above (68, 41) on my Warrior, and it worked really well. Just on the first sweep through I got ten down, and it honestly could have been more if I widened my search area. Do NOT go to Corin's Crossing. If you can't heal, you're as good as dead. Even if you can, you will more than likely get overtaken by their summonings, and patrols that occur. I went there, changing from 68, 41, and I died before I even killed the first one. It was an open clearing, with one enemy... then two shades joined in, and then two mages. He summoned the shades (level 56), and the mages wandered into me. Warriors: STAY AWAY FROM CORIN'S CROSSING!

Personally, I think this quest is great, especially for First Aid users. The Runecloth drop rate here is great. I started with 2 Heavy Runecloth Bandages, ended with 12, and that's with my use of them. I didn't have to eat a single bit of food.

Oh, and that Ghoul Rot debuff will hurt you. It gives you a -10% chance to hit, which means you'll be missing a lot more often than normal, a LOT more often. If you're a class that can debuff this, you'll want to do so just as soon as it hits you. Great place to quest, but it can be a slow grind.

There are quite a few diseased flayers around 68,41 that can be killed for this quest. Much quicker than getting the odd one in Corrin's Crossing or in the north of EPL.

Ya, me lvl 55 Hunter just killed 2 ghouls, and got no credit for them either..Not in raid...talked to the spirit a bunch of times...lotted corpse....still jack all

what you guys dont seem to understand is that they respawn as ghouls for every undead you kill. so the reason you guys arent seeing any ghouls is because you dont kill any undead. SO kill all the stitches and shriekers u see!

I got all of my spirits from the Gibbering Ghouls at Corin's Crossing in Eastern Plaguelands. Every time you kill an undead in the area, it respawns with a different one. So if you run out of ghouls just kill the mobs around the outskirts of town until they spawn again. The souls even come out if someone else has killed them. Make sure you talk to the spirit to get credit.

66,40 Eastern Plaguelands. Just went around killing the skeletals. After killing some of they spawned theese human male/female ghost just rightclick them and speak to them:)

1- It is horribly difficult to run around finding these ghouls, so I advise you to go to the Auction House and buy 1 "Elixir of detect undead" http://classicdb.ch/?item=9154 . This will allow you to see all near by undead on the mini map and hover over the dots to know what they are. This will save you a lot of time searching for them, since you can just go directly to them! The elixir is not expensive and it's well worth it.

2- If anybody else has this quest, do it together.. the spirit counts for both of you, so instead of killing 15 each you'll just need to kill 15 total.

Best kills are at plaguewood in easter plaguelands, go to where the road turns to stratholme and just run around killing 54-55 cannibal ghouls.. Real easy..

Just a tip, but you dont have to kill the mob to talk to the spirit, if someone else kills it and the spirit appears you can still get the point for it. This also works for opposing factions (horde vs alliance).

In plaguewood, there are ghouls around level 54-55, which is the lowest you can find them for this quest. And, all you have to do is get to a dead ghoul and talk to the ghost, doesn't matter if you kill them or if someone else does.

The Crimson Courier and her party can be a great asset to this quest. As they pass through Plaguewood and Corin's Crossing, they kill any undead in their path. Any ghouls they kill will still produce a Darrowshire ghost, and any other undead they kill may respawn as a ghoul.

The guys at 68,41 have a HUGE aggro radius (although a guildie said it only happens sometimes). I wasn't within range of using my bow (35 yards) when they would aggro. Some aggrod at up to 45-55 yards.

It's hard to find the mobs, you get spirit on every kill tho.

EDIT: After i did this quest i went to Terrordale and saw that there is alot Cannibal Ghouls in the houses :D

I was mildly surprised that there was no increase in Argent Dawn reputation when I turned this in. I can't remember whether or not I checked when I turned in Villains of Darrowshire. I'll certainly check when I turn in Heroes of Darrowshire later this week.

I've had the same problem of quests not counting kills in Winterspring.

If you have been raiding lately, you may still be in a raid of 1. I was and as soon as I dropped my raid, I was fine.

You may need to rejoin a raid and leave to fix it if you've logged while in a raid.

I spent most of saturday finding the canabillistic ghouls south of Scholo and was able to free 13/15 spirits.

I went back today and killed 2 more ghouls, but it did not give me any credit. I talked to the spirit, I looted the corpse, I'm still at 13/15.

I have an open case with blizzard about this and I read on Anonymous that someone else had this problem as well.

So if you're gonna do this quest, do it all at once or fall victim to the bug :(

I have been doing this quest for 1/2 hour, killed about 10 creatures, and have gotten NO credit for any one of them. They talk to me, but no credit for killing them is being recorded. What's up?

I've noticed many of you have been trying to kill the ghouls around Plaguewood. I've tried it to but after 45 min I got 5 freed spirits. Then I whent down to Corin's Crossing and got the quest done pretty quick.

This is a good quest to do with A Plague Upon Thee. if you go to the northern part of Eastern Plaguelands you can find a lot 53-55 undead in Plaguewood that easily killed. Also thats where the termite mounds are located. Its worth it to kill the other undead for the Scourgestones. You'll also need to be careful as there are 57-58 level Abominations roaming. They are easy to avoid, but are brutal if they agro. I completed these quest as a level 53 warlock.

I found that the Gibbering Ghouls have a spirit almost every time.
