Stratholme Holy Water (5)

Description

I look at my undeath as a malady, <race>. An illness that merely requires treatment; however, it is also a great blessing for the Argent Dawn. What better vessel to smite the heathens of the Scourge than through the undead?

I am revered by my colleagues because of the sacrifices I have made, but the accolades mean nothing to me.

If you are interested in assisting the Argent Dawn, then a job I can offer.

Venture to Stratholme and recover our surplus of holy water. Search the supply crates.

The name of this quest is also the name of Led Zeppelin's 5th album from 1973.

Am I the only one who started thinking of Led Zeppelin?
They have album and a song of same name. Gotta love Blizzard and their popular culture references :)

If you are a dwarf, use find treasure and on the mini map it will show a dot for the holy water in the crate. It will only show crates with items in it on the mini map and not bad crates.

Its good being a rogue, the bad crates say"Requires Disarm".

As far as I've seen, over half of the crates in the instance needs to be disarmed by a rogue first in order to open the supply crate.

Sometimes, rats (etc) comes out and attacks. They cannot be targetted using the tab button ('cause they're critters, I'm guessing). They're also too small to activate hunter traps (It'll be interesting if you can trap a rat, I guess). However, a few blasts of some form of aoe should get them all killed pretty quick. :]
BE PREPARED because the attacking critters will spawn if you get NEAR the crates, not just if you open them.

Other times, you might get a disease for 10 seconds (300 nature damage per... I think it was 3 sec and unable to stealth)

Still other times, nothing will happen. :]

So far, after 10 crates, only one of them had anything, though I got two of the holy waters from that one crate (along with some healing and mana potions).

I did Strat last night and through the whole first section(main entrance to left gate), not one crate was good. You would think Blizzard would make more of the crates usable. Everyone has this quest and theres also a Pally quest for Holy Water (Collection of Goods). What method do you use for crate ownership? I have seen just regular /roll's where the winner gets everything in the crate...other games where winner of roll gets everything in crate BUT the holy water....which only people that have quest get.

Is the Holy water found on the Hu or UD side?

This one is an easier quest (and related quests, it's really a chain) now that most groups going to Strat include 60+ folks helping out lower level friends.. and not so hard for regular 58-60 if the group is balanced and the tank does LoS - Line of Sight - pulls.

Also, remember that for this quest you don't need the quest in advance, you can get the water while in Strat and then pick up the quest and turn it in at the same time. Most quests require the quest for the items to drop - it's nice to not have to hold a space in your log for this one and of course Paladins need the water for their epic mount quest - otherwise, if you have a bunch of the water, and nothing to do with them, no mount needed, quest turned in, not using them in a raid -- if none of these and still questing in the plaguelands, you can always use them to do damage to undead.. granted it's the last useful application but better than junking them as they are BoP and you can't sell or give them away.

While in strat, if you're going for the Tirion Fordring quest chain, make sure you get the quest for the Archivist.. but don't burn the room before you grab the picture on the wall.

With regard to Tirion Fordring's quest chain, linked above, the first quests he gives in this chain are kill quests - Bats, Demon Dogs, and Slugs... they are soloable, but much faster with a friend who can remove disease and poison, if at all possible, particularly if you do this at a lower level -- the first three quests that you get at once are listed as level 56 quests, but are obtainable at level 52. That's a bit low for most classes to solo in the Eastern Plaguelands.

After you turn in the Archivist, you are eligible to do a quick quest (quick in the sense that you only have to do two instances runs )

Note: Turn in the Archivist, get your Tirion Fordring reward (five very nice rewards, check the Tirion Fordring quest chain link, it's a long chain, with kill quests and fetch quests ending in getting the picture in the Archivist's room, then doing a fun masquerade escort quest.

ONCE YOU'VE DONE THE ARCHIVIST -- it's a prerequisite, go back to Strat Live, kill the boss again. This time, his head becomes lootable and you turn it in to the NPC at the EPL flight path area in the Church the NPC then tells you to kill the boss of Strat UD - the Baron, turn that in and you get your choice of a rather cool looking (but not very good) one handed "light saber" sword... or a very decent (in terms of pre-Outlands) staff.

Specifically, these items are the Argent Crusader (staff), Argent Avenger (that Light Sword), and a shield called the Argent Defender.

You end up with AD rep for killing the mobs and elites (depending where you are with AD) and if you went to Strat live for the time for the Tirion Fordring quest chain, you get that nearly done (only one step to go after the run), the exp for the Archivist, exp and rep for this quest, Strat Holy Water (five are needed for the quest turn in) and whatever items that drop... and you're set to get the head next time you kill the boss of Strat live (Balnazaar, the one who turns into a Demon) -- and assuming you did the first quest Betina Bigglezink gave you (She's an Argent Dawn NPC at EPL camp, to pick up pieces of plagued flesh, the NEXT time you go, to kill the Baron and turn in the quest for your staff or sword or shield, you ALSO get Bettina's follow up, to search the Ziggarats for a small lunchbox type item (it's very small, and can be anywhere in any of the Ziggarats which have to be done anyway to progress in that instance - if you don't clear them, you can't proceed to the Baron (and yes, he drops *every* classes' Tier 0 (the blue gear) leggings - along with some other nice pre-Outlands items.

Find the little "lunchbox" thing Bettina wants and you get an upgraded Argent Dawn Trinket with +damage to fighting undead... it's a fast thing to grab and well worth the exp, Argent Dawn rep, and having the better trinket.

These are very interwoven quest chains, it's good to know what you're going in for before you in order to avoid wasting the chance to complete a useful quest.

Good luck, all - and yes, it's a shame the Argent Crusader doesn't look cooler, but hey, you won't be using it for long, and that AD rep, the quest exp, gold, and having a decent staff to replace whatever you were using - Zum'rah's Vexing Cane or even a staff from BRD - is well worth the time, and of course five person raids make for very nice exp. :)

Strat is 10-man max now, ever since they implemented caps on the raid size. But this is a very easy quest for an excellent PvP ring. You just have to outroll all the other people looking for Holy Water.

As of patch 1.10, Strath, Scholo, BRD and LBRS have a reduced 5-man limit and UBRS has a 10-man limit. Drops have been "enhanced" to account for the incresed difficulty.

Easiest quest ever.

Find a dwarf to fit into your group and have him/her turn on Find Treasure.

Find Treasure will show you which crates contain the holy water, and which do not.

Congratulations, you now have a very nice headpiece or a very nice dps ring.
