The Archivist

Travel to Stratholme and find Archivist Galford of the Scarlet Crusade. Destroy him and burn down the Scarlet Archive.

Description

Anything taken to an extreme is hazardous to our world, <name>. Take for example, the Scarlet Crusade. Do you believe that their blind zealotry serves a greater good? How many innocents have they destroyed in the name of the Light?

Blasphemers, one and all!

One in particular interests me, though; the Archivist Galford of Stratholme: A man that watches over the Crusade's most valued documents. Destroy him and burn down his archives! Should you succeed, return to me and be rewarded.

Simple enough quest, but pay attention if you have the Other Quest in this area, "Of Love And Family," <<https://classicdb.ch/?quest=5848>>

Because Once you Burn the Archive, The Painting <<https://classicdb.ch/?item=14679#z0zc>> Burns too!

You gotta get the Painting before you Burn the Archive and if you have no room in your bags, don't be impatient like I was!

This leads to the Balnazzar quest but, you don't get it at Lights Hope. After you turn in the Archivist quest, go back to Human Stratholme another time and kill the Grand Crusader/Balnazzar and he will drop his head (Item starts a quest). Take this back to lights hope and you will get the Baron quest. Rewards are as follows:

No, after turning in the archivist quest, you go back to strat live and kill the end guy and loot his head. His head starts the quest that gets you the avenger.

This quest is needed to gain acsess for the quest that rewards Argent Avenger/Argent Defender/Argent....(Staff or something)So Do it as soon as you can :D

Same setup, only with me (hunter) instead of the druid, and it was pretty easy Balnazaar also went down fairly quickly. And yes, I forgot to burn the archive down... well, better luck next time, just gotta go again I guess.

There is no 'Quest' after this, but by doing this quest you are able to get the head off the boss in Scarlet Strat in raid or 5 man.

It seems that the archives can only be burnt down once per visit (no repop). When someone in the group (non raid) burns the archives, does everyone else who has the quest also get a completed quest ?

I'm a level 60 mage with an Honored reputation with Argent Dawn and the quest giver still won't give me the quest. Is there some kind of requirement?

Just finished this in a 5 man group.
Mage, Druid (bear form), Priest, Pally, Hunter - all 60.

The key to this is crowd control.&nbsp You need to be able to take 2 guys out of the picture, whether undead or humanoid.&nbsp Our hunter used FREEZE TRAP, the priest shackled the undead and the mage polymorphed the humans.

Easily the best 5 man I've ever been in.

There is no pre-req for this quest, and you must 5-man it to get credit. The respawn times are very quick, one wipe and you're likely finished. Highly recommend you bring a Warlock and make sure the soulstone is ready for every fight, even if you have to wait 20 min. One bad pull will waste hours of work.

That said: completed with a Warrior, lock, rogue, mage, and priest. Archivist was a joke, getting there was another story. Just watch the pulls and patrols and you should be fine. Priest spell Mind vision was invaluable.
And yes, this is the pre-req to get the Argent Crusader, a staff that rivals the 900g Glowing Brightwood.

As of patch 1.3 raid groups cannot leave the party and complete the quest.

i beleive the head can still be looted ina 10 man though

The quests starts with Duke Nicholas Zverenhoff at Lights Hope Cathedril in Eastern Plaguelands. You have to be somewhat close to lvl 60 to accept it.

I was looking at the quest chain and saw that one part of this quest is horde only. I really want that Argent Crusader... Can you obtain it on as an Alliance?
