The Last Barov

Travel to Chillwind Camp - Alliance territory - and assassinate Weldon Barov. Take his head and return to Alexi Barov.

Be warned, Weldon will probably be well protected by Alliance scum.
Head of Weldon Barov

Description

Naturally, with my brother still alive, there may be some contention as to the primary beneficiary of the family's fortune. This cannot be.

A low down guttersnipe like you isn't above a little cold-blooded murder, I hope.

It's a simple task and one that I expect you will complete; that is, if you wish to claim your reward.

Weldon sits under Alliance protection at Chillwind Camp, to the east. Slay him, return his head.

<Alexi yawns.>

Hurry along now.

Requires you to engage Weldon Barov at Chillwind Point. Easily taken in a 5man (have done him quite easily with just a warrior, hunter and priest), however you become PvP flagged and Weldon shouts for help so all Alliance in the area know you are there.

Try him at odd hours and pull him up the road a little bit or over the hill - hopefully you will get him down before Alliance swarm all over you =)

Gotta love the Home Alone references as well...

Weldon Barov is immune to Frost Nova, but not to the snare effect given by Frostbite.

I four-manned him (priest, shaman, hunter, and warrior). Be careful. This guy is no pushover at all.

He can be solo pulled. Do that.

He's all melee. He hits really hard. My poor pet died in three hits. Yelp! He also has a melee-range AoE. So, don't stand to close unless you have to.

He has a lot of HP, and will take awhile to bring down. Of course, you want to kill him as fast as possible before the Alliance comes.

The first time, we weren't taking him seriously, and we wiped at 54%.

The second time, I pulled out my mechanicial greench and a mongoose potion. I gave my tank an elixir of giants, a gift of Arthas, and an elixir of superior defense. That got the job done...barely. The priest healed continuously. The tank went down at the same time the mob did. The priest rezzed the warrior, we collected the head, and got our flagged butts out of there.

The trinket has a 10-minute cooldown. You'd probably do well to swap it in and use it whenever the cooldown is up. The summonables also have a really far aggro range and attack on their own, so be careful when you pop this that you don't anger mobs you'd rather leave alone.

The prerequisite is to collect all the deeds in Scholomance. Really. The other message is wrong. That's a different quest chain.

Also, there's no doubt that the quest-giver is fratricidal, evil, and greedy. I felt really dirty after I turned this one in.

Weldon Barov is also an easy solo kill for hunters, especially after 2.0 patch.

All the hunter needs to do is wait for the area to clear of alliance, then pull him with Arcane, followed by Serpent and Concussive shot. Sic your pet onto Weldon then just kite him around, drop traps if you wish, not needed but may help add a little advantage, especially if you are entrapment spec'd. Just run around and jump shot concussive, stop for a second to shoot a round or two, then run again. Be sure to keep Cheetah on the whole fight, unless he gets into melee range, then switch to monkey, hit him with a wing clip, and get back to range as quickly as possible. Feign Death if needed, your pet can always be rezzed.

The best place I found to kite him is down by the river, as alliance do not typically travel there and there are no mobs there that will aggro unless you are basically standing ontop of them.

Good luck and have fun!

pulled him using r1 frostbolt and the occasional fireblast to tarren mill, he was at about 45% when we got there, and i let the guards there finish him. thankfully all the allies just walked past and /waved or /cheered at me :)

Casters beware: This mob is immune to fear and hits for just over 2k, so if you have a party of 3 level 62s, a priest, a warlock and a warrior, you will find yourself struggling.

He can be taken by two mages using the following strategy.

First mage will gain aggro using a high DPS spell, such pyroblast or Arcane Missles. At the same time the second mage will hit him with frostbolt to slow him.
The first mage will kite him with using fireblast each time it is available. The second mage will repeatedly hit him with frostbolt.
If/When the second mage gains his aggro the two mages swap roles. The second will kite with fireblast and the first will use frostbolt.

This works very will if he is pulled over to the hills. The frostbolt mage can stand at the top of the hill and the fireblast mage can run around the bottom of the hill.

I've done this with a 65 mage (fire spec) and a 62 mage (frost spec) and he went down very quickly and easily.

It was done by me (60 resto druid) and my friend a 60 hunter. Not hard at all, we took add out quickly while he was rooted. after add went down, it was just a waiting game of root, moonfire, poisin sting and minimal DPS. took like 6 min but it was easy.

Well, you can solo Weldon easily, if you're a hunter or druid.

Its just a matter of time. I'm a hunter btw. I was kiting him from WPL to Silverspine Forest ><

Where are coordinates for this guy. I went to chillwind camp and he wasn't there, tons of alliance and horde fighting each other, but i don't think they killed him because there was no body lying around and it should have respawned eventually. Maybe he's on the outskirts or something?

Barov can be found directly in front of the Chillwind camp(43,84). Easy to pull without extra mobs to worry about. But, like mentioned before, Chillwind camp is an Alliance post, so be very careful!!

I soloed it really easy as a elemental shammy at lvl 63. Still the exp is pretty good! (11900XP).

Worth mentioning... The quest giver, Alexi Barov, is the objective for the same quest for the Alliance. So if you want to complete the quest and Alexi isn't there (26,58)... He probably is dead... Just wait, or go and do something else for a bit, because it took me at least a 10 minute wait...

2 shaman, 1 priest, 1 warrier, 1 lock (me) all 60 except warrier who was 58. 4 were guildies and 1 was a friend who I knew was reliable. Priest very good at healing, it wasn't too bad, I dotted CoD and others and SBs, warrier did well with aggro and shamans did their dps, took a couple of minutes but was fine.

Wheldon and Alexi are on cool down so if alliance kill the horde guy, takes a while before you can hand in.

Well... in PvP server, this area is PvP enabled anyway so no big deal about tagging. We did him last night with mage+warrior+warlock+priest just after a 4+ hour 5 man Scholo session. From what I've heard from a friend this q is not raidable. It's best to do him right after scholo cos u won't easily find a party just for this q, so when all have the q after scholo it takes 10-15 minutes more to go get the follow from Bulwark and head on to the alliance camp. If u have rogue or drood have them scout ahead for any allys there. If it's clear, move in.

This guy's melee should be avoided at all costs, so a frost mage is a must to keep his face blue and his pace slowed all the time while he is kited from mage to tank to mage again. My job (tank) was to continuously hamstring, stun and take aggro off mage when he would go too close. Even tank shouldn't stand close unless necessary to just hamstring and pull him off a clothie but still walk away from melee range and have him only follow from a distance. I heard a priest soloed him by kiting him around so ranged is the only playing style to do him.

As soon as you hit this guy he emotes an alert shout to all ppl in the area (just like the other PvP mission in Hinterlands) so expect allys coming in for an easy kill. We had only a hunter but warlock managed his pet and we did it (I was down to 400 health in the end). If you want to avoid interference kite him away from the camp, either south or west, and be fast so your presence wont be announced a lot in /1.General.

What trinket does is summon 3 lvl60 mobs (2 tauren and 1 undead) to fight for u for 10 secs and has a 10 minute cooldown. If there are no enemies around, those 3 will just walk around following you (didn't clean for me) and die after 10 secs. It's not the solution to bring down onyxia but is a great distraction confusing the hell out of anyone ambushing u or finishing them off.

Did it yesterday with my wife, frostmage and shadowpriest, both lvl57, using kiting strategy. I pulled him with frostbolt, then we waited for few more frostbolts so I could get aggro and I runned from him, occasionally using bolts to slow him down, while my wife dotted him.

I used elemental twice and still ran oom, used pot and mana giving orb from mage' class quest. I believe he can be soloed at lvl63-65 as frostmage, you can kite him w/o problems with just spamming your latest rank of frostbolts(I still used few rank1 to keep distance).

I kited him by the road to Andorhal and when we came to brige, I turned toward trees and ran back to Alliance' flypoint, he died on half way.

While you kite him, beware, this guy reached me once and I got him for around 1.5k hp, to my luck he never had a chance to repeat it.

Good luck with him.

We killed Barov with a 5 man party (warrior, druid, warlock, thief and hunter). He hits quite hard (bout 500 per swing to the tank) and may crit for 2k+, but except that it's a straightforward kill... But .......
There is a "but" :

It's PvP because the guy stands in the Alliance camp in Western Plaguelands, and it activates the PvP flag as soon as you hit him.
So, try to be stealthy when you prepare to kill him, because there will be soon A LOT of alliance players that will grow around (its worse than pitiful flies), and trust me, the guy will be hard to beat with pallies and priest healing him, and thieves stabbing you in the back while you fight him ... ARGH I HATE THE ALLIANCE ! (and they can spend like 1 hour waiting for your party to engane him.. trust me)

Soloed as a druid full feral build. This would have been ALOT easier with innervate. First time I tried, I'm thinking I might be able to tank him with a few roots/heals, but when i try to kite him towards hillsbrad, he resists a roots and crits me for 2100 (Ouch). Without a doubt the hardest time I have ever had solo'ing anything. Took over 15 mins with +Damage and mana/5 gear. Lots of spirit gear too. Roots/starfire/let mana regen a little.

I Found it good to drag him straight south towards the river, where you have plenty of room to go around him on the banking. Nature's Grasp was a godsend here.

Soloed him as a frost mage. Kept spamming rank 1 frostbolt on him and kited him all the way down to Tarren Mill. Kept kiting him around the town while the guards helped killing him. Takes some time (the guards only hit him for about 70-90 damage) but eventually he died and I could loot him.

Don't let him get close though. His first strike appears to always crit, which on my clothie ass means 2500+ damage.
