Dark Council

Kill 4 Argus Shadow Mages.

Bring the Head of Nagaz to Magistrate Maleb in Southshore.
  •
Argus Shadow Mage slain (4)
Head of Nagaz

Description

The letter you brought me was written by a being who calls himself Nagaz, a member of the Argus Wake. I don't know what this Argus Wake is, but if they're in alliance with the Syndicate then they must be a threat.

I want you to find Nagaz and the Argus Shadow Mages mentioned in that letter. I want you to find them, and kill them.

Search in the Uplands, where the Syndicate is strongest. It is north of Strahnbrad.

With luck, you'll find these envoys of the Argus Wake there.

Don't run or hearth back to Southshore to turn this quest in. Follow the road east and up to Chillwind Camp in Western Plaguelands, grab the flight point and fly back. It's much quicker and adds a flight point to your list.

Two of us went to do this one last night, 36 mage and 34 druid. We went around Dalaran to the north and followed the lakeshore to the house where Nagaz is. (We picked up the Shadow Mages earlier in Strahnbrad while doing another quest) There's a house about halfway along the lakeshore with a couple of elites in it, so don't get caught off guard there. We cleared out the syndicate mobs near the house where Nagaz is, and pulled out the two syndicates inside the house, Nagaz did not aggro with them which was a little odd. Lastly we pulled him out and finished him off, but around then the mobs started to respawn again. This happened rather quickly I thought, so don't waste any time while doing this, do it and get out. We got swarmed, but I had his head so we just ran for it and escaped without dying. :P

Nagaz: 39,14 in Alterac Mountains.

He is in the house directly in front of you as you walk in, right next to a Worn Wooden Chest that you'll need to use.

Argus Shadow Mage Locations:
53,21
55,27
56,26

Nagaz is at 39,14 -. Head North from the town and head toward the lake. The lake is full of Snapjaws. At 36 it's tough, as the assassins and Nagaz himself is 40. Annoying, since the Mages are so easy.

38 tank warrior and 38 holy priest. Not much trouble. If you can draw the guards away you fight Nagaz on his own straight through the door of the building.

Nagaz (level 40 orc, hostile to horde, not pvp-flagged) is near the shore, in a house
The other orc someone was talking about is Gol'dir, level 25, friendly to horde, pvp-flagged in the inn of Strahnbrad.

You must indeed clean area around outside the entrance of the house. In house i see 2 mobs between me and Nagaz. I think: i shall kill Nagaz first. A Holy Fire pulls surprising ONLY Nagaz. Two mobs don't react with Nagaz, so i can fight with Nagaz only. :)
I'm full discipline priest at level 40, thus with lesser aggro. I'm still yet outside the entrance of the house, and i can reach Nagaz at the another side of the house. That is enough for 30 yard range :)

Pull Nagaz only is possible without aggro another mobs inside same room. Nagaz hits indeed fast like twohanded swordguy, but my reflected shield helps me to kill him faster. Good luck :)

I remember with another character paladin, that when i pull another mobs, more mobs follows and possible Nagaz too. Paladin has no ranged attack, that is more troublesome to play.

Locations above are confirmed...best spot to solo the Mages is 56,26. I have done this with a hunter, paladin, and mage.

First: Kill the Sentry walking back and forth.

Second: Attack the mage right past the saboteur and burn him quickly then kill the Sab.

(All other locations require multiple pulls or dealing with more than two at a time and with the fast respawn rate it is tougher.)

Third: Heal if neccessary. Kill the 2nd Saboteur. Return to step one.

ENJOY!

Got a chest from there as well, not that good. Got last mage from 1st house on the left. Went for th Nagaz dude. Just near him on the left hand side is a box. It holds a quest. Handed in the quest to SS.

You can do this quest at the same time that "Noble Deaths", the sentries also drop the Alterac Signet Rings, and to get to the Mages one has to get a few of them down.

Shadow Mages can also be found in Alterac, in the buildings. They can be difficult as they generally spawn with one or two other Syndicate mobs. If you don't want to kill them in Alterac, they can be found in the small camps against the north mountains in the Uplands.

You can do this entirely in The Uplands if you want to. As you leave Strahnbrad and progress through The Uplands to the Northwest, you will encounter 4 Syndicate camps, each getting progressively more difficult, but each one with a Shadow Mage.

At the first camp, I killed enough Syndicate mobs to stealth behind the mage no problem.

At the next two camps I had to go after the mage and fend off the other mobs which came to assist, then sprint away.

The fourth camp was the most difficult, but I finally killed the last mage by vanishing and sprinting as necessary.

Went down to the house where Nagaz was waiting...with three stealthed Syndicate PCs. I killed a bunch of Syndicate mobs on the outside, because they will rapidly reinforce each other.

Finally stealthed into the house and Garroted the first Syndicate Enforcer. Everybody and their brother mobbed me...three Syndicates and Nagaz. I pulled all of them outside, concentrated on Nagaz, killed him, then vanished. Waited until the other mobs left, went back and got the head.

When you look through the door of the house, Nagaz can be seen on the back wall. He is a much bigger ogre looking dude. There are about 3 stealthed folks inside you'll have to pull out to get to him.

He's in the big red house by the water, looked pretty easy, till a level 60 pally came and killed him before I could get there. I had the wait for him to respawn.

I soloed this as a 38 prot pally and found it extremely easy. There are two stealthed assassins, levels 38-40, outside the house (coordinates listed above are correct). They can be pulled one at a time.

Inside the house are two mobs for me, I found an assassin and an enforcer. (I assume this is random.) I'm a pally, so no ranged attacks. I managed to inch forward far enough to aggro them and run out of the house without getting Nagaz as well.

Alone, Nagaz is a very quick and easy fight. I've done this same thing before on other toons and made the mistake of rushing in and getting pwnt. If you take it slow, though, it's quite easy.

Non-gray completion yields 100 Stormwind rep, 25 ea. Ironforge/Gnomeregan.

There are a few Argus mages in Strahnbrad itself, but it may be easier to kill the four in the pass leading from Strahnbrad up to Dandred's Fold. One each in each of the four camps. You can pull the sentries one at a time until the mage is clear. Your mileage may vary...

Soloed this as a 35 frost spec mage. Cords are 39,14 for Nagaz and all you have to do (as a mage) is to kill one by one the 2 guards outside the house and pull Nagaz with a fireball and simply kite him till he dies. I didn't agroed the 2 guards inside the house so i guess i was lucky^^

Soloed lv 36 feral druid. Absolute cakewalk. Pulled the two guards together. I was ready to run because I thought they might aggro homeboy, but he just stood there. Nagaz was simple after I finished the guards off. He hits fast, so start healing at about 25% because it'll take you a few extra seconds to pull it off.
