Ya.. when you have it equipted it allows you to pick up the scrougestone which is needed for the quest.

You have to be lvl 50, you pick up a quest to get it. Squirrel was right in everything he said, and I feel sorry for that lvl 60 hunter that thinks it's just to show off that you did a quest. Especially since it's one of the easiest quests in the game. By having it equipped it causes undead to drop scourgestones. You turn in the scourgestones to collect argent dawn token of valor. You use those to raise your rep or at Exaulted you can turn in 25 at a time to purchase things. Each rep rank, Friendly, Honored, Revered, Exaulted offers different enchants, alchemy, tailoring, blacksmith, etc... recipes.

Also, one other important thing ... if you get your rep to Revered it's free to get into Naxx ... otherwise you have to pay one nexus crystal and two arcane crystals ... which is well over 100g

So, it's probably a good idea to have this "show off buff" on ALL the time in plaguelands.

You mean to have to be level 55 to finish this quest?

what lvl do you get the quest for it. im 49 and have been trying to find out for a week.

Put on the Trinket and pick up the scourage stones that drop.. you need to collect 3 types for turn in 20 minion, 10 invader and 1 other that drops off the elite leaders in Scholomance and Strathome. Then you get a trinket that you right click on and it gives you an additional +25 rep. When your rep is high enough you may purchase recipies, schematics, plans, etc. from the AD that binds on pickup so only you may use it. One example of what they sell (little gnome by the flight plan in Chillwind) is +24 healing to bracers. So it is not just for looks it serves a purpose if you want to get your rep up with AD.

Purpose? I believe you need to have it equiped in a trinket slot in order for the plagueland mobs to drop the scourgestones. And those you turn in for Argent Dawn faction and the ability to buy stuff at the camps.

Equip it... At least it isn't in your bag anymore. It has a function then...

Does this item actually serve a purpose other than taking up space in your bag/bank?

I forgot to put the trinket on and I wasnt gettting any of the quest items. Then I remembered to put it on and got them off 3 in a row.
