Description

I hear you were enlisted by Darthalia to wage war on the humans of Hillsbrad. So jealous I am. . .

While you're off having all the fun -- slaying humans, pillaging the town, terrorizing innocent people -- I am stuck standing guard here in Tarren Mill.

Perhaps you'll take pity on an old Deathguard like myself? You see I am collecting human skulls. And you will be fighting humans for quite some time. Over the course of your long battle, bring me 30 skulls and I will make it worth your while.

This quest is one of the most infamous "collect x" quests in the game, I think. Anyone who does this quest will discover that the humans of Hillsbrad are strange, mutant beings, of which, relatively few have skulls. Maybe a quarter of them have skulls, but that's about it.

You have to complete the first Battle of Hillsbrad quest, which you receive from High Executor Darthalia in Tarren Mill.

Definitely a better drop rate by Durnholde Keep. Finished in about 45 minutes if that. Very easy for a level 23 Rog.

looked here on thottbot to see if they dropped them also, they list them dropping it.
so off to durnholde keep to test it... first kill of a level 21. Human Skull. much easier to kill/pull than the hillsbrad humans at times. but if you do the whole string of quests you should get the skulls also. but i'll get them the ring at 25 easy.

...So do they drop off all the humans in Hillsbrad?, and shouldn't there be a skull on every human there. I mean shouldn't everyone in the game have a skull.

Unless you want to farm the area for the skulls, I'd say work on the Battle of Hillsbrad questline while doing this quest. Basically after you complete one of the Battle of Hillsbrad quests, go turn it in and go back to the area. You'll be here for awhile working on completing the questline in the Hillsbrad Fields area.

I found the best luck with the skulls at Durnhold Keep low lvl usely 1 out of every 2 you kill.

The droprate istn that bad. You'll usually get 1 very 3 kill. And since you probably have the quests Battle of Hillsbrad and Dangerous!, you'll have all the time to get all the 30 skulls.

this is a pretty easy quest because you can complete it while doing the others just loot the skulls while doing the other avialible quests

If you're a 24+ mage specced with 5/5 Improved Arcane Explosion this is a breeze. I was killing 5+ guys at once pulling the higher levels with fireball or frostbolt and gathering the rest with IAE. Once they're in a clump, hit Frost Nova, back up and drop a Flamestrike on them. Then just IAE until they're dead. Takes a couple tries to get the hang of, but after that it's cake. At 28 I can do 7 or 8 of the guys at the northern-most farm at once.

I completed this at lv 25. I didn't find it difficult at all. Lowish drop rate but not hard just time consuming.

Solo'd this as a level 26 priest and turned 27 when I turned in the skulls. Its semi tough but totally doable. I used fear and healing potions ( I'm an alchemist ).

This is a bad quest drop rate wise. But other than that, it isn't too bad of a quest, you just go back to Hillsbrad Fields and kill all the Hillsbrad people that you see there. Statistically, Hillsbrad Peasants drop rate is the highest.

As a 25 UD mage, i had the best luck farming skulls at Durnholde keep. Just about every shadow mage and syndicate rogue dropped a skull (3 out of 4 drop rate). And the watchmen dropped about half the time.

Wasn't too difficult, did the blood of innocents quest at the same time. I didn't try the big keep, there is a small tower on the way with about 10-12 hunmans, most were easy to pull solo and finish off. Probably killed about 100 to get 30 skulls. Got the bloods from the mages way sooner.
