Humbert's Sword

Retrieve Deathguard Humbert's sword from Dun Garok and return it to him in Tarren Mill.
Humbert's Sword

Description

High Executor Darthalia sent me to keep watch of Dun Garok from a distance. I had set up camp just out of sight. But when morning came and I had to boil water, I left to gather firewood.

When I returned to camp, I discovered my gear was missing.

Apparently some dwarven scouts from Dun Garok had passed by and made off with it. I need my sword! If you can get it back for me I would be so grateful. So many dwarves there...it will be quite difficult to find the dirty little thief who stole it.

The title says enough, Dun garok is one of my favorite farming grounds for greens to disenchant and for the coin and silk/wool.

usualy i grind there for a hour or two every other day. then comes another player who needs to quest there, i always offer them some help because im a big and cudly druid and it doesn't bother me that they take some of my silver and cloth.

there are two types of players

the one that says, "sure, thank you"

the one that says "pfff, i can solo this so STFU"

The top one has the sword in about one complete clearing, the bottom one just sucks and dies alot.

This droprate is horrible if you only fight the mobs outside, if one of the mobs inside has the drop, you can grind till your level 36 and never get the sword.

one advice if you are in a party do a full sweep and i guarantee you will get this drop!

The sword is found on the dwarves around 70,77.

It has a very low drop rate so you may be there a while, but it's good XP, I did it at level 30 (Hunter) with a 30 priest.

I didn't have to go inside as well. The drop rate on this sword sucks. A guildmate and I camped this dorf hideout for over 2 hours and finally after heading out with one more kill we got the sword to drop. The mobs here are 28-30 but they are a bit more tough than you regulars. Keep that in mind when you go charging in there like the police on a meth lab. We saw a few 28's and 29's go running in only to either die or run like a crazy person. So, you've been warned.

My results:
You gain 3050 experience.
Your reputation with Undercity has greatly increased.

Got this sword to drop off a guard outside. It can be shared by the whole group.

This is a random drop off of any dwarf, though Captain Ironhill tends to drop it a lot.

All three of the quests in Dun Garok (Humbert's Sword, Battle of Hillsbrad 2nd to last part, and Elixir of Agony 2nd to last part) are all easily soloable at level 28+. That hardest mob you'll fight is Captain Ironhill who is level 32, the rest of the mobs are level 28-30.

We received this sword from a Dun Garok Mountaineer. We went inside, cleared to the named, came almost all the way out, and boom - the sword dropped.

Your results may vary. =)

This quest has a pretty bad drop-rate, go to the south east corner of Hillsbrad Foothills and you will see some dwarves, you can kill any of those and it should randomly drop. Very good quest for racking up experience, but not the best quest for finishing quick.

Wow, all this neato stuff about how hard it was, or wasn't, notes about how few/many people are needed. Any chance someone can post the loc or approximate area where Dun Garok is?

Any helpful input would be greatly appreciated.

It's in the SE Corner of Hillsbrad Foothills at Dun Garok, kill the dwarfs for the sword, it's all about luck. I got boosted from a guy in there, went lucky, got it after 5 min. Pretty good XP grind aswell for lvl etc.

did this quest as a lvl 28 mage..wasn't too bad..go through the tower once..kill some dwarves outside..it should drop within a reasonable amount of time. Might have better chances getting the sword inside.

The coords at the bottom of the page are correct, found plenty outside.

As a feral druid this was pretty easy, I did it at lvl 30.

Here is the strategy:

-Roots and MoonFire
-Get into bear form and throw faerie fire on him and get into Enrage.
-When the roots let go, feral charge him and just pound on him
-When your health gets to about 1/2 stun him in bear form, and throw a regrowth on
-After healing, get into cat form and finish him off fast before he runs.

Hope this helps.

Not a bad quest if you're trying to raise your Undercity rep or just like to grind endlessly. My sword dropped outside of the entry way to Dun Garok near the little tent. I was there with a party for an hour and a half. I made more than half a level easily. Still happy that the sword can be shared by entire group.

yeah, umm, three of us spent 2 hrs last night waiting for the sword to drop... didn't get the sword in the end, it was getting to late. we cleared the outside, cleared the inside, and spent the rest of our time fighting outside, and nothing :( i'll be trying again tonight.

Dun Garok is at 70,78 in the SouthEast corner of the map.

The sword dropped for me on the 15th'ish kill. Solo'd as 34 Rogue and stayed outside where there's a little more room b/w mobs. Respawn rate was quick enough there was no shortage of surly dwarves. Good luck!

Pretty good. The sword dropped out of a Rifleman near a tent.

You actually dont need a group to enter the mines, but it is recommended, since you often get attacked by groups of mobs at the time...Pretty hard to do alone, but it is possible tho,,,The Sword have very low drop rate, and can at some point make the quest booring, but you can allso do http://classicdb.ch/?quest=541
Would be better, since you are already killing the dwarfs and the Captain :P
But the Group thing is strongly recommended, since some of the mobs are pretty strong...

this is very easy to solo as a level 28 beast mastery spcced hunter. i got level doing this quest, before it dropped. just dont pull more than 1 at a time, and make sure to use concussive shot if they are fleeing towards some more dwarves.

I solo'ed as a lvl 31 fire mage. All the enemies are manageable at this level, highest none-boss type is 30. Very slow respawn time so take your time killing them (I waited about 5 minutes before they started to spawn again). I then went all the way through with a lvl 33 priest and it was a cake-walk. We grabbed 2 at a time and had no trouble taking them out.

I got my Sword from a random drop, not from the Captain (his respawn may be very, very long).

I was picking up 300 - 350 xp a kill, great for level grinding!

Grinded the sword for about 2-3 hours with my hunter, from lvl 26-28, and it never dropped, so halfway to lvl 29 I abandoned the quest. And yes, I did have the quest in my quest log.

Combine it with Part 6 of the Battle of Hillsbrad quest and you will be ok....!!! I've done this q. at lvl 26 with another Lock and they dropped the Sword two times...!!! They are too many Dwarfs around here and you have to be too unlucky to search it for long time...!!!

I did this as a 28 lock and had no troubles besides the fact that there arnt many dwarvs to kill and there were about 5 others working on the same quest. I cleared the place about 5 times after the others left before the sword dropped.
