Description

My food supplies are running low, <race>. I am ashamed to admit that I might not have enough food to share with you.

Could you assist an old man with a simple task? Around here, the only manner of beast unaffected by the ravages of the Plague are the Carrion worms. While rather bland in taste, the meat of the worms can easily be preserved to last for months. I will need several hundred pounds to restock for the coming winter!

Was doing it just for giggles at 60.&nbsp Carrion Devourer dropped a Hammer of the Northern Wind.&nbsp First epic I've ever seen soloing.&nbsp

What a big maggot is doing with an epic mace, I do not know.

By doing only this quest does not lead you to the next of the chain(https://classicdb.ch/?quest=5742) you have to finish ALL of the 3 killing quests he gives... then he'll be impressed enough to tell you his grandpa tale.

If you kill Carrion Devourer (http://classicdb.ch/?npc=8605) on the north side, the drop rate is much better, and they drop 2 of them.

Well this is how it goes for any gathering quest that you can get the same item from different mobs the higher the level, the higher the drop rate. This comes into play with this quest. Do not waste your time as I, and many others, did by killing the lower level "carrion grubs." Instead, take my advice and be smart! Kill the Carrion Devouers Near the Northpass Tower that can, and often do, drop more than one at a time. Easy exp.

You can get the cabin by going straight north along the stream when you come when you come into Eastern from Western plaguelands. Thott loc is 7,43 in Eastern Plaguelands.

this quest doesn't quite lead to the rest of the chain, you have to complete the other two as well.

the maggots have a nasty 30min disease debuff which reduces both ranged and melee attack power by 50, so i'd recommend just doing the maggots until you complete it, then going back and killing everything for the other two quests. if you're lucky, you'll get all your maggotty meat before the second application of the disease wears off, and your very last one won't reapply a fresh disease at 5% health >.<

The droprate on these things really sucks. Accordning to this site it is supposed to be 35% dr. I have killed Carrion Grubs for 2 hours now and have gotten 2 slabs...

You can find a very high concentration of carrion devourers just south of Northpass Tower, in a small trench. But be careful, that region's within Borelgore's patrol area.

I've found that the Carrion Grubs below Light's Hope and infront of Tyr's Hand seem to have a crazy high drop rate as well. I went from getting one every 6+ kills to one from about 80% of the mobs in that little area.
