Message in a Bottle

Slay King Mukla and return to Princess Poobah with the Key to free her.
Shackle Key

Description

<name>, I put my faith in you and anyone you can muster to help free me. The great Skymane King Mukla is my captor. He commands the beasts of this island, and they keep me here against my will with the aid of this chain. If you can slay him and find the key to this shackle, I shall be indebted to you greatly.

I often hear him to the southeast side of the island, but please be careful: he is not to be trifled with.

To finish this quest, you need to kill King Mukla (https://classicdb.ch/?npc=1559), a 42 Gorilla. He is on the southeast side of the island that the Princess is on.

I just saved Princess from, in her own words, "a great dishonor."

*raises big long bushy elf eyebrow*

O.o

Anyway even my level 58 cat gets a bit hammered by this gorilla, can't imagine trying to solo it at the proper level.

I soloed this guy pretty easily with my 60 mage. Some tier 1 gear, but not much else. I reckon you could do him with any 60 if you played it smart, but not much lower level. Quest doesn't really seem worth it TBH.

Used an imp on passive as a dark pact mana battery.&nbsp Only had to lifetap once or twice towards the end.&nbsp He resisted quite a few spells, but only one fear.&nbsp I saved my deathcoil for that.&nbsp Didn't have to clear the surrounding area.&nbsp He actually had fewer hp than I thought he would.&nbsp Easy stuff.

I just completed this at level 48, I'm a gnome warlock. I had my voidwalker go in and take most of the damage, then I just dotted em with CoA, Corruption, Immolate, Siphon Life, Amplify Curse and Fear.. I didnt use death coil once, and then when he was around 7% health I used soul fire that got em down to 3% and there was still some dots on him that finished him off.. It was pretty hard but I did it, good luck to everyone else doin this.

I saw the great ape and got close enough to cast Beast Lore on him.

He had 11460 HP.

Needless to say he is untameable.&nbsp I figured that much, but I did want to know just how hard he would be to take down.

With the coming of 2.3 this quest is only about level 42 (don't have a quest lvl mod so not sure, but King Mukla is now 42 rather than 51).

Soloed as a 48 druid. Root and wrath spam, level 10 style. Took a while and a few innervates, but he went down without touching me.

Edit: this was when Mukla was lvl ~50 Elite.

Just did this with my lvl 45 hunter and a lvl 48 fire mage. He's slow and has a short melee range, but hits frikkin hard if you get too close. The key to beating him at lower levels is to kite him around trees b/c he has to run around the trees but you can fire through them, and sometimes you can keep him confused as to which side of the tree to go around. And don't get hit.

There are two really big trees near him, close to the water. Cleared out the gorillas first so no adds, turned on Aspect of the Pack so the mage and I could keep ahead of him, fire mage switched to Frostbolt to help keep him slow and for mana efficiency and to keep aggro on me. Growl disabled on pet so it would just dps and not pull aggro from me. Then ran loops and figure 8's around the trees for a few minutes, slowly dps'ing him down. Both the mage and I used a mana pot. At under 1/5 health, mage hit him with Pyroblast, Fireballs, Fireblast, and he was done.

Killed with a lvl 51 troll hunter (little notice: i'm human XD). The troll attacked first using his pet. When he and his pet died, I just finished the big King with a couple of hit/crit (seal of command). EASY!

King Mukla:
http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/9121/kingmukla0oz.jpg

Good luck killing him! Btw, a lvl50 alone can't take him, unless he is priest or got some kind of good heal. He does crits on like 400-600 (maby more to) so thats 1/4 of your hp... I.O.W. -> You need a party with atleast one healer. )

Solod as a level 48 hunter , just kite it along the beach with your pets growl turned off , it moves slowly so AoC keeps you far enough away to get a few shots in then move and so on

7350 exp for hand in @ lvl 48

I killed him with my friend.
He: Lvl 55 Druid
Me: Lvl 56 Rogue

It took us some time to kill him.
He does pretty high damage for an elite on lvl 50.

Do NOT try this alone, even if you're level 60.
Take at least one healer with you, unless you're a healer yourself.

7350 XP at lvl 56.

I wanted to do this solo, so I tried different methods.

The first was to just let my pet attack while I was shooting arrows. My pet died and then he came after me. Feign death.

Then I tried to kite him without my pet. I shot him with aimed shot, put in a frost trap to slow him down, and shot arrows, used a concussive shot. and then run, shoot concussive shot, more arrows etc but then he ran back to his spot and regained all health.. Didn't work.

Then I tried the method that worked:
1. put a frost trap in front of him.
2. set your pet in the background on stay
3. Shoot him with aimed shoot
4. Shoot him with concussive shot
5. when he is out of the trap, then make your pet attack and take aggro.
6. stand in a distance, so you can both heal your pet and shoot
7. use rapid fire and use multishot everytime the cooldown is over
8 when your pet is on 25% health, heal heal heal
9. Use mana potion if needed
10. Use intimidation, so Mukla is stunned for 3 seconds and shoot like crazy
11. use Bestial wrath, if you have it to finish him off and keep healing your pet if needed. Let your pet do the last damage. If the pet dies.. you die!

That was the way I did it solo. I hope it can be helpfull to other hunters

i was lucky as hell, cuz my 60 druid friend helped me, but really u should try to do it at about 45-50 range, cuz the xp is ridiculoud like 7300 for the one quest, granted not everyone can get a 60 to help, but i sure as hall am not gonna say it was easy or that i could solo it, least not until lvl 55 or higher, as it is i did it at 45, with a loot of help and a druid in bear form for aggro.

I was able to kill him at level 50 as a frost mage. The key is to kill all the non-elite gorillas around him before attacking him, even the one's on the coast. After that you can constantly use a frostbolt to keep your distance while kiting him in a circle. You also need to use Ice Blocks to let cool down on frost nova run out. The succession of spells is pretty simple. Frostbolt-Fireball-Fireball-Frost Nova (Repeat). Good luck!

If you are a frost mage, you can easily beat him down at level 50 using water elemental. Just save the CDs for both novas and nuke him with frostbolt. Remember to take at least 1 mana potion with you.
