The Lost Pages

Find the 12 missing pages of the Shredder Operating Manual, and put them together to form Chapters 1, 2, and 3. Return the pages to Gurda Ragescar near Splintertree Post.

Description

I just picked up this shredder from Ratchet and I was on my way back to the Warsong Lumber Camp, where I am supposed to be on duty. I was given a manual on how to operate the shredder, but on the trip back, a huge gust of wind blew it from my hands. The pages went everywhere, and all I was left with was the cover.

The pages could be just about anywhere by now, I suppose... but I don't know how to use the shredder without them! Will you find them for me?

Be sure to bind the pages together with the same character you will be using them with.

Let's just say I learned this the hard way and now have a bank character with 3 soulbound chapters of the Shredder Operating Manual....

Chapter 1 = Pages 1-4
Chapter 2 = Pages 5-8
Chapter 3 = Pages 9-12

Starts and ends at Gurda Ragescar 69,71
3650 exp when done as a level 26 mage.

Right click on the pages anytime you complete any one chapter.&nbsp The pages then combine saving you 3 slots per combined chapter.

These drop randomly from just about everything every where in Ashenvale.&nbsp You will easily get all the pages while completing the other quests.&nbsp If you are short 1-3 pages, just buy them in the AH.

I would recommend making a "mule" charactor, buy him a cheap bag, escort him to any of the three major cities, and hearth him there.&nbsp Then, one can send the pages to their mule through the mail, and not clog up their bank or bags.&nbsp Send one extra of each page for your next toon for a quick and easy nearly 4000 points the second time around.&nbsp You can also use your mule to send cloth mats, cooking mats, or mats of any sort to store.

Sell the pages you have 3 and 4 of in the AH.

Great quest for getting exp fast. Buy them from the AH for 10silver a page and finish the quest for 3650 exp in 5 min of work.

Alternativly, get this quest as soon as you can and just do all the other Ashenvale quest. You can save up the pages you need and sell any duplicates for 10s a page, THEN buy the ones your missing. You could save about 1g this way, and you dont have to go out specifically to grind for the pages, as they drop from nearly every mob in Ashenvale

The pages are NOT soulbound, so you can auction them.&nbsp Once you join them into a chapter, they ARE soulbound.

There aren't coordinates for any of the pages.&nbsp They are ALL random drops off any mobs in Ashenvale.&nbsp You can sit in the same furbolg city and get 9 of the 12 pages (I did).

Since it seems that nobody understands the problem with binding these pages, allow me to make it perfectly clear for you.

Binding the chapters has recently become bugged. In order to successfully create the chapters, you need one of each page for the chapter, i.e. pages 1-4 for chapter 1, and then additionally another one of those four pages. Whichever one you manage to double-up on is the one that you must use to create the finished chapter. In addition, the one that you use to create the chapter will be consumed twice. This is why it fails. You need two copies of the page you choose to bind the chapter with.

In the past, the problem that exists now with this quest did not exist. But at that time, it was also impossible to get more than one copy of a given page as well. The bug developed since that changed, I guess.

This is one of those quests in which the loot you need is random. I've killed everything I could and I didn't see any pattern at all on who dropped it. The good thing about the pages you need is that they are tradeable and you can sell them if you have more than one copy. I saw a few shouts for pages that others wanted to trade with. Solo'd this at 26 with a 26 pet and made it to level 27.

My results:
You gain 3650 experience.
Your reputation with Orgrimmar has increased.

Ok not many people can finish this without the help of the auction.. What i did was get a few from humaniods and when you need like 5 more just get them at the auction. even though its a little pricy the prizes and experience are worth it!

This quest is a bit tedious, however it is worth it. As a level 31 Tauren Druid I received 3600 exp for completing it. I had it a long time, but really you get the pages from killing mobs (thistlefurs, satyrs, etc) on all the other Ashenvale quests, so you can just sort of ignore it. The trick is to store the pages in the bank (otherwise they eat all your regular storage, each page takes a slot). I bought the last page I needed for 2 silver at AH. The gloves sell for a lot more than that, although i presently have equiped them.

When i was a 27 Shaman i found it very easy to just go to The Zoram Strand (Western Ashenvale) and used underwater breathing and i killed alot of "mermaids". I probaby got about a page every 5 or 6 people. And alot of clams for cooking =). Hope that helps!

I found most of the pages by doing satyr horns quest
at Night Run (in Ashenvale 66:54)

Though even after completing the quest and also killing a lot of Tree-like monsters on the way to Night run and back (they loaded pages quite often) i still lacked pages 2 and 4

I finally found pages 2 and 4 at The Ruins of Ordil' Aral (in Ashenvale 31:30) Lots of ~18 lvled Dark Strand Cultists/Enforcers etc there who loaded pages reasonably often and were packed close together so it took me around 5 minutes to find my missing pages - 2 and 4, also while getting my final pages i found a lot of other pages - i'm quite positive they can load all the pages there are for this quest so if you've done all the other ashenvale quests and still dont have the pages just go to 31:30 and start whacking..

I got most of my pages in Thistlefur Village/Thistlefur Hold, but that's just because I spent more time there.&nbsp Anything in the low-to-mid-20's seems to be able to have a page.&nbsp Page 1 is clearly not only in Blackfathom Deeps, seeing as how I have it without going near the place.

To reiterate, BLIZZARD has confirmed that this quest IS BUSTED in 1.11: the missing item message comes from the fact that there is corrupt data on (at least) page 12 as my copy said "0 Charges" on the bottom!&nbsp That aint right, no charges 'posed to be there. Blizz says hold on to the pages if you have the inventory for them, they will fix.

I got most of the pages myself, but I used the auction to get 2 pages, which definitely helped to speed up the process..and it was worth it! I gained 3650 experience from it as a level 25 hunter....so yeah...id recommend heading to the auction if you are having trouble finding all of the pages..

ok so you dont know where to go well just go to the coords 76,75 you should either go with other people or be a level 28 or so because there are a few level 29's and 30's. but if you go there you will get all the pages you need. I went there with my level 28 hunter and found all the pages. Good luck

Its stupid because alliance can get it. Also a tip, it drops great off the Murlocs NW of Astraanar. I got one page off a Buck, and another off a horde guard, and finally one off a spider. No sense at all in this quest, whoever made... well i dont know what to say.

This is the most frustrating quest I have done so far! I would have been even MORE frustrated if I had been Alliance and then found out that I couldn't use them!

I got 9 of the 12 pages plus a lot of duplicates, before I resorted to going to the Auction House in Origrimmar, where I was able to buy 1 I needed.

When I returned to Ashenvale, I went to an area that I hadn't been before, and got the page I had already bought, plus one more I needed. I finally traded another player 4 of my duplicate pages for the last one I needed. Overall, this quest took about 10 hours of game time to complete.

I am thinking that those three pages have specific drop points on the map, but I could be mistaken. They were pages 2, 7 and 10. Good Luck!

I found most of my pages fron the Wrathtail on the waters edge, at Zoram's Strand. I think I'm gonna get the rest of the pages at the AH. It took me no more than 15 minutes to find 7 different pages.

It seems odd that alliance would even be able to find these pages if its for a quest they cannot complete. I dont know why its not labeled as a "quest item" to begin with so people not on the quest (alliance) wont find them.

I suspect there might actually be somewhere on the alliance to turn these pages in (or else blizzard just wants to make us collect them for nothing).
